I was born 62. 85 was when I entered university. I don’t look back on queuing at the post office every month to pay the bills… And playlists are a bit better than trying to hit the song you liked with the recorder pickup. And hey, the world was supposed to go under in a nuclear war before the year 2000, the Cold War was on. But ok, the 90’s were great.
What is nice is you can enjoy the music even now. I do pottery at a studio, and I am one of the older ones. Many in their 20s know a lot of the songs I enjoyed, and even before my time. It makes it fun.

No guitar needed! Just a hard thumping drum, a rockin' organ and Chris Montez's voice! I loved it when I first heard it in 1962, and still love it today. I miss the old days. They may have had their bad times, but they aren't as crazy as they are now.
@@AlanSmith-ym8pj We checked out Wikipedia and found the original lineup: Joel Hill on guitar, Ray Johnson on Philicorda organ, Ray Pohlman on bass guitar and Jesse Sailes on drums. The dominant drumming of Sailes and Johnson on the organ practically fade out Hill's rhythmn guitar. It is there, keeping rhythmn with the drums, but hardly anyone would notice. While there is no biographical information on Mr. Hill or Mr. Johnson, Jessie Sailes (1919-2007) was a drummer who played on many hit records during the 1940's and '50's. Ray Pohlman--born Merlyn Ray Pohlman (1930-1990) was a member of the well known session group The Wrecking Crew and was a bass guitarist for various artists from Sam Cooke to The Beach Boys. Kind of like in this video. New sound, new dances, and just innocent fun. The 60s were in no way perfect, but I always longed to have been able to grow up back then. As an 17 year old student at College at Walthamstow London, I had tickets to see Chris Montez , Tommy Roe and the Beatles on 9 March 1963 at the Granada East Ham. My girlfriend and I attended a great concert which stayed in my heart being a great fan of all three, ln December1988 flying on Concorde from London to Barbados my Norwegian wife and l sat by Ringo Starr and Barbara Bach, who, like ourselves were going to Mustique. We were to stay with our friend Basil Charles the owner of Basils Bar Mustique as on 7 January 1989 we had exclusively booked a celebration of my wife's 40th birthday party attended Ringo, Barbara and Rolling Stones' Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall. Mick and l shared an architect who designed both our villas

Loved watching this. I probably watched this live when I was a kid. "9th Street West." I recognized Sam Riddle, the KHJ "boss jock" radio station disk jockey from L.A., who hosted the dance show I think almost every weekday afternoon during the early 1960s, moving through the crowd and sending couples out to the center of the dance floor. I remember Chris Montez as a guest more than once on the show.
The boogie moves and energy are contagious! Not being of this generation Mr. Montez is heard of in many generational performers. This banger among many of his others are simply magnificent🎉 Bravo
Where in Scotland? I'm just curious because that is one of the places I have wanted to visit my whole life because supposedly that's where my family originated. There and Ireland. I have no family here anymore. They are all gone hopefully to a better place! I danced a lot back in the day as well but not so much anymore. If I would have known that I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself! 🙃 It is funny because it's true.

Wow! Going to the dance growing up and seeing these older ( seniors) girls with their perfect Breck Girl hair and sweater dresses just mesmerizing! God it was fun!

This song was so popular that Chris's band was the headliner at shows in the United Kingdom, about 1962. This song was almost a forerunner to modern Pop and Rock music. The opening act was a growing, wannabe popular group called the Beatles. The Beatles had only released a few not very big or very popular single records by then. No albums. One of Chris's high school friends was Brian Wilson. Chris later helped out the Beach Boys with some of their songs. Chris also went to a Ritchie Valens concert to hear his idol sing, and actually accidentally bumped into and talked to Valens during a break at the show. A charmed life indeed !
I play bluegrass and was playing at an American Legion..My mom got up and was gliding across the floor with her 1950s style moves like these ladies and I had to tell some of the old men my mama was married lol..When I hear this old rock and roll music I think of her cause she listened to it all the time and danced lol

One of my favourite dance tunes from the sixties. I remember dancing to it in the school hall in 1962 - the year of the big freeze in the UK. Or was it 1963? Long time ago!
+Ann TwoShoes I agree ,and the year of the big freeze was 1962 , as i was going out with my girl friend and we would sit for hours on my m/bike in the snow !
+Ann TwoShoes Yeah, the Big Freeze of the 1962-63 winter. Great times, back then, with such fabulous records in the charts, and lots more to come as the Sixties progressed.
Ann TwoShoes - As far as I can tell, this song was first released in the U.S.A. in June, 1962. The Big Freeze started in the U.K. around Christmas, 1962.

PAMELA you were bless with the ♥️♥️ of your life may God be with you always
Nothing like the 60’s. Listen to it every morning on Sirius 60’s gold. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
One of the greatest twist records ever made. Fantastic beat! This record was played again and again at parties in 1962/3.
God, doesn't this bring back the memories. I've watched and listened to this video Many time and remember when I was out on the floor. Love it.
Wish i was alive in this era of music , being an 80s child give me this music any day..
60s all the way
Danny Stock yep you’ve missed a lot but at least your enjoying it all now that’s the main thing👍.
This generation is the best because we have instant access to any generations of music
Damien Caez You might be able to access it, but it sure as hell is nothing like living it.
Born 82 and grew up with my mom and dads music
I always loved this song.
Just clean and pure, i lived through it, and loved it.
Les années 60 étaient merveilleuses et les chansons formidables !
les années 60 c était une époque formidable en 60 j avais 12 ans on dansait on s amuser il y avait moins de contraintes que maintenant mais enfin c est la vie Claude progni
EVERY DECADE THE 20" TO THE 80'S THE DANCE WAS GREAT - TODAY I FEEL KIDS ARE ROBBED OF JUST HOW GOOD DANCINGTHE NIGHT AWAY FEELS.

In the 60s with the 7" Let's dance vinyl in hand I went to all the house parties. Great Chris! How much fun we had!
What a GREAT tune!! You CANNOT sit still hearing this!!
The boogie moves and energy are contagious! Not being of this generation Mr. Montez is heard of in many generational performers. This banger among many of his others are simply magnificent🎉 Bravo
Classic, they never go out of style.
Very beautiful girls in the 60's
Good then and good now!!!😃
THANKS......NOT BAD AT 80 EITHER
Wow! These guys really knew how to dance back in the day. Not just trying to air h#@p you on the dance floor!!
Not blowing my own horn but I could knock a few moves back in the day Irene Lol best wishes from Bonny Scotland 🏴
@@stilllaughing3959 🤣
Where in Scotland? I'm just curious because that is one of the places I have wanted to visit my whole life because supposedly that's where my family originated. There and Ireland. I have no family here anymore. They are all gone hopefully to a better place! I danced a lot back in the day as well but not so much anymore. If I would have known that I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself! 🙃 It is funny because it's true.
@@irenecarhart I am from a Scots/Irish family,my grandfather moved here as he was on the run,he was to be executed by firing squad,my grandfather was fighting the British after they burnt the family farm down looking for weapons (that were not there) sadly this activity by British forces made young lads in Ireland join the IRA in the late part of the 20th century. My grandfather told me he had to fight back in some way at the family having the farm burnt down,I can't argue with that...I felt really sad when you said you had no family...tell you what Irene, after a recent car accident I prob will be joining you up in the great dancehall in the sky my family is your family and I hope youl have that dance with me..ps the place in Scotland where I was brought up is a little town called Falkirk....best wishes Sean
@@stilllaughing3959 Thank you! You're very sweet. If you don't mind me asking what happened? Are you okay?
Oh, we were having a lot of fun.. Everybody would get together, just girls and practice with our records... Then we would cook up a bunch of goodies and bake some cakes and invite the boys for a good dance party... often....Cuero, Texas. 1961-1971... Too much fun... DeWitt County.....Go Gobblers
And, we know Texas was producing some real lookers back then.
Miss you mum. Loved getting the 45s down and listening to this and twisting. Let’s dance x
Apaixonada nessa música! Alegria contagiante! 2023 🇧🇷
Let's bring these good times back !!!!! The best
I always wondered why someone didn't open seniors only/baby boomers dance clubs and just play only the baby boomer OLDIES. going to the city's or county senior citizens' dances is NOT the same as clubs (of course sans booze.) Wheelchairs, canes, walkers, etc welcome!🎈
It's too late! Those times will only live in the memories of those who lived in 1950s/60s. The World has now changed so much. However. us oldies can be taken back to those times whenever there is the music that we used to sing along with or dance to.
@@lindaperkins2221 Yes the greatest memories and we can pass them on
@@karenpolemeni3743 I get a special happy feeling whe listening to the 60s music.
@@lindaperkins2221 That's because it was real music ..Me too

About 1:28 the young lady in the white top and dark skirt was definitely the queen of the ball. What a cutie. Great dancer, a pleasure to watch. I hope she is still alive and well with a house full grand kids and great grand kids. Those were great times...
Haha…I thought the same thing! She has the right rhythm all the way through. 🥳
Agree!!!
Definitely the babe of the ball. Best dancer by far
Wonderful clip, showing those young folks dancing so well, and with such joy and enthusiasm. They're dressed well too, and not a fattie in sight !
Yeah... no kidding.. 'and not a fattie in sight !'
No fatties: that’s because we didn’t have all the crap foods they serve up nowadays, nor did we have the extra cash to waste on fast food. Plus, we were always so busy that we didn’t just sit around and stuff our faces.
I wish I could have lived in those times , everything was so classy and fun
It indeed was. But if you lived in those days, you'd be an old man, like I am today . ( 68) But it was great.
@@skipdow3 nothing wrong with being more expirienced and mature! Nice to see more mature people on the internet
I think I first heard this on 8 track awhile back👌...still sounds the same💯
This time period was so much fun, there was still innocence 🥰
Hi Debbie
This was a great dance song, the beat is phenomenal.
Ahhh...the summer of '62, I remember it well, as I was 13.The opening drums were a classic.

Best song ever! That beat and most of all Chris Montez's voice.🎸🎶💃🏽💞

Wow! Going to the dance growing up and seeing these older ( seniors) girls with their perfect Breck Girl hair and sweater dresses just mesmerizing! God it was fun!
Hi - I'm interested to know just what 'Breck Girl' hairstyles are - was it eg like a 'Beehive', or the style of Tammy ( 'Stand by your Man' ) Whinette ?

Now this is what I call dancing. Even though I'm not from that era but believe me when I say this was the best music.
Let's dance. Awesome song that showed the influence of the Hispanic Culture and the Adaptation of both cultures. Truly special and heart felt ❤️
Chris Montez Band is my favourite and the way they sings the songs.
I remember this song from the early '60's. Still enjoy listening to it today.
Let's dance Trisha 💃
I'll dance with you to Trisha Ann .I am a old age pensioner but can still hold the girl and manage a few steps 🎼♥️
I would love to dance with you
Golden sunshine and blue skies all along the way. Thank you Mr Lynch.
I love this video! Great dancing and fun to watch! Epitomizes the swinging 60s dance era!
Absolutely the best dance video on here
and I love watching it. I remember when
I was out there
Love it. Back in the Day Id be out there Just dance dance dance
You cannot hear this song without wanting to dance too!!!!
I'd give back all tech crap to be on that floor!!

Hello,how are you?
I play bluegrass and was playing at an American Legion..My mom got up and was gliding across the floor with her 1950s style moves like these ladies and I had to tell some of the old men my mama was married lol..When I hear this old rock and roll music I think of her cause she listened to it all the time and danced lol
This brings back so many memories. I actually went to bandstand when they were here in California and got to know so many great people. I enjoy watching these because I am in my seventies
We went to the oringal in Philly. Cut school to go. Thankfully didn't get caught. Best day of my life!! I was on TV
That drum intro.....perfect!

We might be old but we had a great time getting here!!!!!
Agreed.

Hell, I'm not old ... just uhh ... mature ;)
didn't we though. i'm 70 and my girls love to dance with me. jive, waltz, chalipso, pony. we have a great time at weddings, just not enough places to dance anymore.
Aint that the truth---drugs,rock&roll (the very very best of the 50-60's) & seeing our world change. We survived
Those great days of the 1960's that changed music forever!
+Ann TwoShoes major hit on campus of Penn State in '63-64; college Mixers were fantastic.

I was only a kid when i herd this and it still makes me want to dance 40 + years later love it.
