hearing this music on the piano really shows just how incredibly composed the songs are -- they almost sound like classical pieces.

I think about this all the time. The memories retained from childhood. It makes me reflect on the responsibilities I may one day hold as a parent and the useful things my offspring can retain from those years. That being said I'm thankful I grew up in one of the last stable times we've known in our country

but the fact that you do remember that it's on route 24, but not mention that later on that same charmander will ignore you like hell, once he's been evolved to a cherizard, is also pretty epic xD

Ha, this was a couple years ago. I worked at a continuing and professional education (CaPE) office for Southern Methodist University in Dallas. But I've gotten involved in a much more fruitful career since then. This was a pleasant memory!

+Tomas Garcia Dumler i listened to a combo of this, the silver and gold piano medleys, and the ruby/sapphire/emerald piano medley videos constantly while doing my dissertation for University, got a 1st with a fantastic paper, I thought it made fantastic background music to break the silence of the library. Also gave me massive urges to play the pokemon games for somereason... haha

+Tomas Garcia Dumler I definatly recommend putting it at 1/3rd or half volume so its a silence breaker and not the forefront of your mind, its noticable but not your main point of interest. Melodic music like this without lyrics is best I find

Excellent arrangements. Especially the Wild Pokemon Battle, Viridian Forest, Battle (VS. Trainer), The Road to Cerulean, ... well I'll stop naming them individually. They're all really well done.
Nobody can seem to get the Trainer battle music right... Aside from the bass line being COMPLETELY WRONG, the part at 12:41 should be LYDIAN, NOT MAJOR.

WHY DO YOU AVOID THE BASE NOTES??? FRIKIN USE THEM!!!!! THEY ARE THERE FOR A REASON, music always sounds the best with the perfect combination of low and high notes, NEVER JUST ONE, dont you feel that???
Of course all notes on a piano is important, but if you listen closely, you will see that there is a good mix of low and high tones in the arrangement which is made here. Also, some of the music in the earlier pokemon games refrained from using low tones to set a certain mood. Of course you could argue that he could have made the arrangement his way and disregard this, but as a mean of replicating the actual themes from the game, he has done a superb job, and have made it perfectly playable for two people.
