      Insurance companies should be fined for failing to do what they’re supposed to which is offer insurance. Major corporations have gotten away with ripping off consumers for far too long. Also, the manufacturers should also be fined for failing to address the issue and repay all consumers who purchased their vehicle. The problem here is Corporations know they can screw over consumers because they own the government which looks the other way when they commit crimes.

Yes, it’s understood that the chances of that happening are never going to be 0%, but it would be nowhere near what it’s become, had there been no access to DIY grand theft auto videos getting shoved down people’s throats when it pops up on social media, whether users were interested in it or not, whether they looked it up for themselves or not. KIA made their cars easier to steal than a cheap bicycle. Mind you, only in the US. In nearly all other Western countries, immobilizers are mandatory on all new cars since the mid '90s.
      I had a 1995 Ford Fiesta without an immobilizer as my first car, and it wasn't a difficult car to steal. But it was like Fort Knox compared to modern KIAs. At least you needed the key to remove the lock cylinder from my old Ford without breaking anything.

As time passed and thefts became more prevalent wife and I became more and more anxious about the possibility of her Kia getting stolen. Then our insurance went up after 3 years with a theft warning. Got the software upgrade but I quickly realized same as the insurance companies do that the thieves will still break in trying to steal doing costly damage to the vehicle. Was able to trade it in on a new 2024 Mazda CX5. Did get payoff fortunately but the first thing out of the sales managers mouth when negotiating the trade in value was the Kia theft issue. DON'T BLAME THE INSURANCE COMPANIES!
    I sympathize with her, but let's understand insurance companies charge premiums and decisions on whether to offer coverage based on statistical risks.
    People with poor driving records will pay more because they pose a higher risk.
    An $80k Porsche will cost more to ensure than an $80k Chevy Silverado because of statistical risks.
    Because of the ease of stealing Kia and Hyundai models, insurance companies are forced to raise rates or deny coverage because if the vehicle becomes a statistic, the insurance company ends up paying for the $20,000 to $40,000 vehicle.

    • @kris.h.8032
      @kris.h.8032 17 дней назад

      Well then they shouldn’t call themselves an insurance company. The insurance company needs to remove itself from the market. It’s the same with health insurance. The more they deny claims the more money they make and maximize profits. It’s a grotesque system. All State is now denying insurance for homes in areas strongly impacted by severe storms like hurricanes and tornadoes. Insurance companies are all fraudulent businesses and should stop calling themselves insurance companies because they overcharge, cover less, and look for ways to deny coverage or cancel coverage. Premiums are also a scheme. You pay monthly for coverage but you don’t get what you paid for they’re just taking your money and making a profit out of it. The insurance companies need to be regulated or pay some penalties for consumer fraud. Health, homes, and cars should not be in a for profit system it leads to issues like this and the manufacturers need to be held accountable as well. A heavy fine needs to be imposed on them to allow the consumers to be paid back or at the least be offered a newer vehicle at the same price they paid for that car. Corporations have been ripping off consumers for years because they know the government will refuse to hold them accountable.

    Four months later I got a random call and it was that guy. He said 'thank you for the advice' - he had done what I suggested so all he ended up with was a smashed window and steering column, but that was it. One of the thugs trying to jack his car got shot by a neighbor and was found at a hospital. The other two were identified by the customer's dash camera with in-car video that got perfect pics of them. Turns out the thugs had impressive bank accounts so his attorney is going after every dime.

    That bill showed a premium of $7209. I don't believe she was paying that. Nobody's paying that for car insurance, unless they have a six-figure car. If the Kia was almost paid off, she should have done what she had to in order to get the money to pay it off now, then all she would need is liability coverage. Her insurance company still would have covered her for that. Just go without collision/comprehensive coverage. Lots of people do.
