Fantastic freakin album, I heard this back in about 1979 or so, when I was 9 years old, loved it ! Yes, I do have a bit of a demented mind, love Frank Zappa ! On a sad note , We just lost Johnny Bolin, the drummer for Black Oak Arkansas! He is also Tommy Bolin s brother, super nice guy, he will also be missed !!
Every time I hear this it reminds me of Zappanale 2010 Bad Doberan Germany. Central Scrutinizer Band form Brazil took the stage. In the begining they looked a bit pompous. By the end of this song they blew the whole crowd out of the park with a standing ovation. Best cover of the song I have ever heard in my life. Frank would have been very proud.
Many of the Zappa songs are based on real or imagined stories that Frank heard from people he met along the way. For example, Calvin and His Next Two Hitchhikers is based on a real story. Willie the Pimp is based on a story that's on the Mystery Disk. The 200 Motels story line about Zappa (and others in the band) secretly recording conversations and then having the band perform them, was largely true. "Carolina Hard-core Ecstasy". That was written actually for the girl who played the gong in (...) "Eat That Question". She used to work at the recording studio and she was from South Carolina. That was when I was in the wheelchair and I was working there on the The Grand Wazoo and Waka/Jawaka albums. And I needed to have a gong overdubbed. And the way we were working, I wasn't in a regular studio, it was in a mix room and in order to do an overdub, since we didn't have a studio facility was there we had to run a microphone into the toilet which adjoined the mix room. So we had this girl in this little tiled toilet off to the side of this thing playing this gong. I think she never had so much fun in her life while just thrashing this gong near the fade-out of "Eat That Question". The song was based on stories she had told me." - Frank Zappa, The Supplement Tape, Interview with Co de Kloet.
(…They’d be singing so happily, oh joyfully, playfully, watching me…) Sushi 🙂🎉 Such an interesting artist. Such an easy great melody - Like a “normal” song 😄 It’s true, following L33 is like being a frog in water that’s getting hot. Thank you, Peter K. and Lee!
It's refreshing to see a great reaction from the start of a Zappa prime era that ended ,unfortunately, around April 1978. Great down to earth Frank Rock/Metal/R&B,yet also reliving the overnight/apostrophe songs played live in NY SNL 1976, featuring his most successful drummer with frank's most successful run.
I brought that poster home and put it on the closet door in my bedroom. The next day, I came home after school and it was gone, and I found it in pieces in the garbage. When questioned, my mother replied, " THAT'S DISGUSTING."
Actually...it IS a normal pop structure. If it weren't for the fact that the woman in the song is asking to have her body STOMPED on... it would be a normal pop song... almost.
I find the lyrics somewhat akin to an absurdest commenting on a real existing trend emerging as a subculture (in America) back then. Frank's use of comedy tends to be mistaken for sarcasm. Truthfully because there is sarcasm. However; I laugh because the absurdities are funny even when they do make a comment. There can always be humor in music.
Advance Romance and 200 Years old ...both on this album
Bongo Fury's version of Muffin Man is from another world, IMHO
Quite possibly my favorite guitar solo. Though, this one is up there too. sick
This record is almost 50 years old. FZ and the Captain were a great pair on this. Heard Muffin Man first, ran out and bought it
Frank going off on his guitar is unlike anyone else. Typically ridiculously hot band.
🔥🤩🎶❤️✨️🕊
To keep in pace with a dead man ( :) ), you should start doing an album (not a song) per Friday. Thanks for the reaction, pleasure again!

"Willy the Pimp" is another classic by Frank and Captain B with arguably Frank's greatest extended solo.
You just never know what to expect from Frank ... so entertaining. Love Frank Fridays
I love this album.
muffin man has been a favorite of mine for a while so i'm happy to add this one to my playlist now lol

Thanks Peter K, another fine tune from FZ.
peter always brings the heat!
The song doesn't "just end" it just goes right into the next song.
Another one of my favorite solos
L33 the talent level from this period is insane!!
Another favorite album, in the top 3 for me.
Thanks again for your journey I have been a Zappa holic since 74 enjoy
Bit of a rocker for Zappa. And I love it!!
Yeah this was …. Almost a normal sounding song at points! But in Zappa fashion, he slays it. Doesn’t matter what genre or style he always kills it!
But don’t forget that Whipping Post is an Allman Brothers Band tune. If Frank covered it, he respected it.
thank you for one more🎸🎸☕☕🚬🚬

Napoleon on vocals along with Frank.
I’ve got my Roger Daltry cape on to listen to this. 14 DDD
Checks out - the majority of Bongo Fury is live. Great work on this from Bruce Fowler.
i have another song to do next week from it too! excited for sure to keep going with it.
one of my favorite zappa tunes. Wonderful Wino is great too!!
oh man you gotta hear more of Bongp Fury ! Tellin youse
Thanks, Peter
Just wait until you hear Yo Mama,,, my request for this month... and it is NOT short.
In my opinion a very overlooked Zappa album.
Too many overlook his best work. 75 - 78. Prime Zappa beginning with one size, ending with hammersmith Feb 78.

The cover? What's disgusting.
I'll give you a clue: Caroline is a cousin of Camarillo Brillo
Zappa Lives!
one day i'll figure it all out lol
I'm not the biggest Zappa fan (I enjoy him but don't go out of my way). I'm here for the Captain! ❤
Napoleon was Bon (apart) - his best front man
Ike Willis ? My favourite version of this song is on YCDTOSA vol.3 with Ike Willis, and the guitar solo is so good
@@Alix777. He was not a front man like Napoleon, the humor …
The Captain and FZ

5* for that solo.
Please react to Mother Sky by CAN from the album Soundtracks 🙏
Make sure it's the complete/full album version as there are edited versions which don't do the track justice
What's the song you were playing at the beginning?
Well theres Dylan The Beatles and Jimi and then theres Frank
