Just gave this a shot. the full carton of heavy whipping cream was just over $5, and produced less butter than the 4 sticks i would have gotten from the supermarket. In the end, Its cheaper to simply buy butter, but it was a cool experiment.

@For Music it tasted more like the heavy cream then butter to be honest. But I blended it until it all separated. It ended up spoiling after a couple weeks though
I’ve been looking at different recipes. I like yours with adding the salt before you form it. Fabulous! But tell me that bread looks absolutely delicious. That’s what I need with my butter is that bread!❣️
Funny, in Germany butter is almost always without salt which makes sense because we eat a lot of wurstl, ham and that kind on the bread and it is salty enough
Well I recently accidentally made butter while trying to whip the cream. Ended up overdoing it which turned it into butter instead. Ruined my Tiramisu recipe but had delicious butter for next day’s breakfast.
My local grocery store sells heavy cream for about a dollar when it's close to its expiration date and they have to make room for a new shipment. I like to buy that and make it into butter and save the buttermilk for baking. Sometimes I'll melt some of the butter down into ghee (clarified butter). Ghee is absolutely perfect for stovetop popcorn.
I’ve been doing this at home for a while. I’m starting to add a bit of science re salt. It’s prepped in a food processor with the blade attachment. I run it through a potato ricer: it clears a lot of the buttermilk which is kept aside for pancakes!
You made life so much harder for yourself by using the whisk attachment that long. Once it starts to clump you should clear out the balloon whisk and swap to the paddle attachment to finish the last section. It's way better at finishing the process as well as squeezing the the liquid out.
I torture myself with a churner lol! The feeling of accomplishment is astonishing, using wooden paddles to beat it is crucial it removes all butter milk that you didn’t squeeze out. ( the wooden paddles are butter specific)
I am differently going to try this. I shared this with my friend who made this. She said it was delicious but you need to make sure to keep Cleaning the butter as the water is clear so it last long..
How mhow much cream do you need to make a regular size block of butter. Wo t it be cheaper to buy? And yes...I know that isn't necessarily the point of making your own butter.
I tried thid and looks fantastic. Is it necessary to place in vold water? I squeezed out the eccess butter milk using small amounts to squeeze itvall out looks famazing

Yup, some mince garlic, Rosemary or basil, and maybe a half cup of fresh shredded Parmesan will make some kick ass garlic butter.

Make sure to rinse until the butter runs clear. Any buttermilk left in it will cause it so spoil.
