I agree with all of those who say that Live to Tell is Madonna's best song. I believe that this is one of the top ten songs of the pop era. When one dissects it and sees all of the ways Live to Tell can have a foundational meaning for so many that's when the genius of this achievement really rings true. Bravo!

People who didn't live through the 80s can't even imagine the fear and devastation that AIDS brought. Suddenly it was death after death after death and there was no cure. And no one really knew how it was caught, even if a virus was suspected from the start. Whole groups of friends simply disappeared in a few years, sometimes even months, as if they had never existed... Not a fan of Madonna, but respect to her for remembering all those that went away too soon, even if it seems like a lifetime ago now.

This tribute breaks me every time I watch it...I can only imagine my uncle's face there.. He died of AIDS in the early 90s. I was only 3 years old but I remember clearly how he was laying in bed near his death. I will always wonder how different my life would've been if I had had my uncle as role model to follow and not go thru the pain of growing up gay by myself. I'll miss you forever uncle ❤ I hope I get to see you again when it's my time to go
