He has made a very bad statement though.
He supported LGBT and said religion can change while criticising Qatar and Saudi for following the deen. During the interview with Sky, he specifically mentioned being aware of the culture and religion on top of that.

You can see how focused he was on the race, he seemed a bit more tense and on the edge compared to normal and fair enough. No wonder hes so heartbroken after stewarding decided the race, not his own racing ability and the car.
