      Thank you! That started life as a Dean Custom Zone in Florescent Green. You can still get ‘em for $260 on Amazon. I gutted it, put in a single Lace Deathbucker through a single volume control. I had a Wilkinson bridge for it, but it didn’t quite fit so I put that on a buddy’s guitar. Luckily the stock hardware is decent, and that bridge keeps in tune well. Then I wrapped it in H. P. Lovecraft inspired guitar wrap to match my tattoo sleeve. We both have Cthulhu and the Necronomicon; his is on the headstock, mine is on the inside of my bicep. I bought that guitar just for the green fretboard, but it turned out to be a good little budget shredder, and a great donor for this project. I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment. Congratulations on your new guitar! Let me know if you have any of the quality control issues I did. Luckily none of mine were major issues and easily resolved, but with a new Gibson you don’t expect to have rough edges and need a setup. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment! Thank you! I love seeing that my videos are reaching a wider audience; music knows no language boundaries. I recognize that I am very lucky to be in a position to play and own such beautiful instruments, and I sincerely hope that you get the opportunity to play and own some quality guitars, too! What techniques are you interested in learning? I just watched the last couple of minutes of the video, and there is some right hand tapping as well as a few pinch harmonics. If that is something you would like to learn, I can do a video with some lessons. Thank you for reaching out beyond borders and across languages, and welcome to the Guitaroholic family! Rock On!!!🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
      Obrigado! Adoro ver que meus vídeos estão alcançando um público mais amplo; a música não conhece fronteiras linguísticas. Reconheço que tenho muita sorte de poder tocar e possuir instrumentos tão bonitos, e espero sinceramente que você tenha a oportunidade de tocar e possuir guitarras de qualidade também! Quais técnicas você tem interesse em aprender? Acabei de assistir os últimos minutos do vídeo e há alguns toques com a mão direita, bem como alguns harmônicos de pinça. Se isso é algo que você gostaria de aprender, posso fazer um vídeo com algumas lições. Obrigado por ir além das fronteiras e dos idiomas, e bem-vindo à família Guitaroholic! Continue!!!🤘🏻😎🤘🏻

    A lot of the normal Moderns I've played have very low, flat feeling frets (definitely not what I would call medium jumbo). Do the frets on the Modern Lite feel like this as well?

    • @WesGuitaroholics
      @WesGuitaroholics  6 месяцев назад +2

      That is an excellent question! I have not measured the frets, but I did just put the Modern next to the Lite after reading your comment… it’s hard to say. I agree that neither feel like medium jumbo, and I would go so far as to say the Modern feels a bit like taller where the Lite is maybe a little more rounded. None of this is scientific, but I will say the Modern plays faster. That’s likely a combination of a number of factors, but I do think the frets are quite good on both models. I’ll see if I can find a way to compare them more accurately with what I can beg, borrow, or construct, but the best thing to do is find one in your local music store and shred on it yourself. Stay tuned; I plan to have a full comparison video with these two soon, as well as showing the mods I’ve made to the Lite. Rock On!!!🤘🏻😎🤘🏻

      @@WesGuitaroholicsThanks so much! I had a modern and liked I a lot of things about it, but whenever I was bending higher up on the neck, the string above the one I was bending would often slide under my fingers. I couldn't tell if it was because of the fret height or the bridge radius was so much rounder fretboard on the higher frets. The bridge on mine had a 12" radius, compared to the 10-16" compound radius of the fretboard. I was thinking of maybe giving the Modern Lite or the Epiphone version a try. Thanks again and great review!

    i love LPs, to look at and listen to. i find them disappointingly heavy and awkward to play. Les Paul guys shrug and say, "that's an LP, man, you got to fight em". yeah, Tele guys say the same thing.
    i don't wanna fight it. i have a few Tele's, my favorite has a thin body, contoured top (carved maple top), a belly cut, and weighs about 7 pounds. Fender call it the Special Edition Custom Telecaster FMT HH.
    i was just gonna get an Epi LP Modern or Custom and call it a day. probably pick up an Epi LP Special as well, tho i don't like the neck on it, i like the Special. i just don't like that the Special isn't top contoured or belly cut.
    that's where this guitar comes in.
    if Epiphone had this guitar in it's line i would buy two of them, it's perfect. it's like a Les Paul Special-Special.
    i f*cking love it. i must have one.
    drop some Pearly Gates in it tho.

      I have to agree; my first Les Paul was an Epiphone 7 string I got in ’99 or so, and it was HEAVY! I was intrigued by the Les Paul Modern and picked one up in 2019. I was not disappointed, even at the $3k price point. The Modern Lite? Not the build quality of the Modern, but pretty damn good for half the price! I am modding it, but I am keeping the stock pickups (for now, at least). I was just jammin’ on it a few minutes ago and the stock pups are pretty good. If I do swap ‘em, I’ll probably drop in some Dirty Fingers. I have a set in my SG and they are HOT! I haven’t heard about an Epi version, and that’s just leaving money on the table. I think a lot of people would jump at that, especially for a sub grand price point. If you get one and do the SD swap, PLEASE send me a vid so I can hear it! I truly appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment. If this is your first time here, welcome to the Guitaroholic family! Keep an eye out for Goldbug in an upcoming video; if I'm up to it this weekend, I plan on finishing the current mod and will unveil it soon.

      @@WesGuitaroholics yeah, Dirty Fingers would kick serious arse in this Guitar. it's a wonder Gibson didn't use em for stock.
      also, i just found out (because they are brand new), SD now do a "10% hotter" Pearly Gates called the Hades Gates. as Billy says in the promotional video it gives the Gates a "little bump".
      i have a PG (in the Bastardcaster, re my previous comment), i would be better off getting Hades, that way i can test both.
      TBH, i think PG in the Gibson, Hades in the Fender.
      either way, the plan has been pushed back a little bit because last night i ordered a pedal. a pedal that has to be ordered directly from the company because the guy who makes them is a nut. no, not a King-of-Tone, at my age you don't put yourself on a 5 year waiting list.
      it's just a JHS Not-A-Klon. it's one of the "assemble it yourself" pedals that are kind of popular now. i think Stu Mac did it first. so now i am eagerly awaiting my package from Kansas City (which i found out is NOT in Kansas. Americans are strange creatures) all the way to country Australia.
      i'm so far out in the sticks, Fed Ex might even have a bit of trouble finding me.

    deff one of the next axes on my list to scoop up. how does the finish feel in the hands?

    • @WesGuitaroholics
      @WesGuitaroholics  8 месяцев назад +1

      Great question! The finish is honestly one of my favorite things about this guitar. It reminds me of my 70’s tribute SG; light finish, light weight, and a great performer. Honestly, the review would have been so much better if I didn’t have the 2019 Modern to compare it with. It is a great axe, but can’t compete with the twice the price big brother. This one definitely has the feel of a worn in hand me down, in the best possible way. I know in the aging process it will get smoother glossy before starting to wear through, but I think this finish will start to show who the owner is after a short time of playing. It is a good feel, and I bet you’ll enjoy it. Thanks for taking the time to comment, and stick around for more content with this and other guitfiddles! Rock On!!!🤘🏻😎🤘🏻

      @@Siggy_Sourif you already have a standard, this could be your chuck around guitfiddle. Lighter and stripped down, it would be great for long jam sessions. And I really think it’s going to look better with some battle scars. I took the pick guard off today and it already looks cooler. @@WesGuitaroholics I’m re working my pedalboard for it. I was playing Strat style guitars for 20 years, so this was a curiosity of mine. After a proper set up and some fresh strings she was good to go. I play primarily traditional heavy metal and doom. I’m gonna throw some fuzz at it and see what happens.

      @@erictait6322dude, I have put everything from a Metal Muff to a Cloudburst in front of it, and it takes it all like a champ! As I said in my review, there are better ways to spend $1,500. But, if you want an American made Gibson Les Paul, this is your least expensive option. For $100 more you can get an LP JR with a single P-90 and a wraparound bridge, so what’s the better deal? The theme of several of my videos has been, Epiphone is knocking it out of the park lately. You are probably better off picking up an Epiphone Les Paul Modern than the Gibson Modern Lite; more features than the Lite and several hundred bucks less. The Lite has a niche, and it does what it was designed to do Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. Hope you stick around to see the mods I’ve made to the Lite; my purchase may make more sense to you when you see my plans for this guitfiddle. Rock On!!!🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
