These stories, with the incredible art and tightly crafted narratives pay homage to the pioneers who championed the way forward in the shadow of "Aboriginal Science Fiction" brought to the world by Charles C. Ryan, with several years of full color magazines with outstanding stories.
Fun but silly, adaptability is the main power of humans, an insectile opponent with predictable and repetitive tactics would be easy prey regardless of power, numbers or ruthlessness. Also arthropoda organisms, no mater how strong and fast, are filled with vulnerabilities: their simple breathing organs are vulnerable to airborn pathogens, epecially fungi, their nerve systems are too simple to attack and their chitinose armor is vulnerable to sonic and thermic weaponry. Think in this way: if a tactic is overwelmingly powerful and effective but humanity does not adapt Japan and Germany would be ruling the world already or the USA would have made colonies outta Vietnam and Afganistan.
I have mixed feelings about the propaganda of the glorification of war, sacrifice, and inevitable victory based on the blood and bones of brave soldiers. This type of story makes great scifi, and is born of the human history of conquest, slaughter and our inhumanity to our own kind, but is it truly the future we want? I remember writing a story much like this one and being asked by my philosophy professor if I couldn't find it in myself to be less apocalyptical and show a more hopeful ending to my dreary futuristic tale. I did tack on a happy ending, an obvious ploy to satisfy my professor, but it was a cheat. The story suffered from the cheap attempt to add a happy ending. Today I still wonder about that apocalyptical future...are we fashioning a self fulfilling prophecy of the human race?
As the author of your story, you should have tell your teacher, that it's YOUR story, just my humble opinion. There are plenty drama books with sad ending out there, it does not mean that humanity is like that...
The point of the story is survival against all odds "Is this really the future we want?" No, but when the alternative is slavery or genocide then war and sacrifice and doing whatever it takes to achieve victory is no longer a bad thing but a noble thing, and absolutely necessary
there you go, at 44:30 you just had to use the inaccurate word Decimate. Devastate or Destroy or even Crushed, but not the destruction of 10% of the forces.
It's not inaccurate. There are multiple definitions in modern dictionaries, one of which, in Merriam-Webster, is "to cause great destruction or harm to". Language is not static and has evolved with time. If we were pedantic about the literal, core etymology of every single word, we'd be sitting here all day :)
Yeah... Chapters by themselves are okay-ish, but it doesn't really make much sense structure wise across multiple chapters. Likely AI generated. Or the concatenation of weekly issues written by some inexperienced author who lost interest in the setting 3 chapters in.
I have listened to many of the stories. Several feature black people but then again. I hadn't noticed any focus on any particular skin color. Would say the main theme was Humans vs aliens. In the face a common enemy there is no color. But your more then welcome to write you own story.
@@williamberger4102 yep, that's not the issue, I too have listened to a number of them and it just struck me that obvious names identity folks .....NO AFRICAN NAMES.😁 LOL I have considered a story of alien infiltration via abused ethnics😁😁😁😁😁😁
Instead of criticizing for authors not writing what you want, either write it yourself or encourage others to do so. How do you know the author isn't a female named Ramirez?
I have to say the writing in the story is pure art! Bravo❤
Go Elena! Helens and war are old friends. Great story. Thanks. Subbed.

@patlab555 true 👍
It may not be the future we want, but it could be our future nonetheless
Why in too many of these stories do the humans throw down their weapons to go hand wrestle some dog gone massive beast?

They don't talk about skin color. Why don't you go write your own racist story and be proud.
