The Mark Hoppus Bass Saga: Episode 2- Tone Shootout!!!

- Following on from my first VLOG of the series. In this episode I have a quick fire tone shootout between the 3 #MarkHoppus basses; His MK1, MK2 & Jaguar Custom.
Please let me know in the comment section which bass you believe won the tone test!!!! And if there are any blink songs you want covered on any of the basses please also let me know!
The jaguar looks comfortable to play imo, also, never noticed the inverted pickups made THAT much difference, they sound completely different wow
I bought a Fender Jaguar PJ & mounted the replacement P pickup with the 'D' & 'G' sensor to neck side like Mark's with 1/8" pole pieces...with the Jazz rolled off it does a good Mark Hoppus impression in tone...prefer the P pickup reverse mounted as keeps the P bass growl but more even bass across the strings,no jump from 'A' to 'D' strings...nice collection of bass's....

I’m running it through my Kemper, on the Hoppus Clean Bass profile. I think the Seymour Duncan quarter pounders make a difference as well though 🤘🏻

Oh dude, it’s huge!! 👌🏻Although I want to do a revise to this setting then all up properly and making sure they all have some fresh strings 🤘🏻
I would say that, as an old school blink fan, I highly prefered his tone from the 1999-2004 era. The moment he posted on inverting his pickups he lost a lot of low mid on the E and A strings. Considering his tone depends on mid scoop, full treble/bass, it kinda ruined it for me

First of all thank you for this video. I was looking for this comparison to make my choice. I am all about the mark II but to me the one that sounded better on this video is the mark I. Lower and rounder sound.
Now I have a question: which neck is the thinnest?

@@davidjohnsully I gotta thank you one more time then as that confirms the best choice is the mark II. Thinner neck is what I'd need.
The only perplexity to me is that some of the Jaguar basses Mark Hoppus uses have a bridge pickup so sort of PJ configuration. I would like to know more...

It’s the Fender American Deluxe P bass bridge!
the "lettuce" one seemed to be turned down on volume and a lot quieter than your other ones. hard to compare when the volumes aren't the same
They were all fully turned up on their vol knobs. All Kemper/logic settings were the same for all 3 basses. The Mk1 just doesn't have as hot an output as the other two. It also had older strings on which sounded a little duller. I'm going to do a new shoot out soon when I get my Allan Corona bass and I'll make sure this time they'll all have new strings!
