    • @shuggiemcg1
      @shuggiemcg1 3 года назад

      @@coleshafer6879 it will heat up in time unless the heater isn't strong enough for your size tank or the tank may be at 80 and therefore the heater won't come on until temp drops you may need rwo heaters if you have a large tank

  • @fluval
    @fluval  9 лет назад +3

    @ReBootEnzo, the required heating power is usually 5 watts per gallon. If the ambient temperature of your room is very cool, it would be the power requirement of your heater. You also need to ensure that there is good water movement around the heater as this can dramatically impact how efficiently it functions.

      I love these Fluval heaters. I own the 100 watt and 200 watt heaters. I will definitely get the 300 watt once I upgrade my tank. I have no negative feedback on these heaters.

  • @fluval
    @fluval  11 лет назад

    Hi, knowing the ambient temperature is an important consideration as well since it takes much more energy to maintain a temperature of 26°C at 20°C ambient vs. 25°C ambient, for example.
    That said, a 100 W heater is recommended.
    Also, take care to protect it from the turtles as it's not uncommon for large turtles to cause breakage to submersed heaters. Hope this helps!

  • @redrosecounty
    @redrosecounty 6 лет назад

    Had around 6 of these now for about 20 months no faults so far, only just cleaned one (little slime but nothing serious). Both in freshwater turtle tanks (some very large at 200-360 gallon) Work really well. Accurate as well (I have calibrated laser thermometers to check every now and then they are functioning correctly. The water temperature is as the E300's state.
    That Being said there is definitely room for improvement, these require high flow areas of the tanks, I use Fluval FX6's on all my aquariums and I still had to locate these at an angle in particular places to ensure they don't give the "LF" all the time, I would say maybe a slightly less restrictive guard version might be a good idea for better flow. Also I know these are predominantly for fish but the lever adjustment had to be modified on mine as a 6" turtle is surprisingly heavy and strong, growing potentially up to 14" Straight Carapace length I would have preferred a locking mechanism for the temperature adjuster.

    So what do you do if it blinks red or blue ? Just leave it until it returns to normal? Or adjust it? And to do you just flick it to what temp you want and that's it? Do you have to hold it to set it or? Any info would be great thank you

    i bought one of these around the time it just released earlier this year; it works well and i like the lcd screen. however, if kept inside a saltwater tank that has typical algae (green hair, coralline, or even red slime) it requires cleaning very frequently so that the inside casing doesn't get clogged, affecting the censor and giving you false read outs. i didn't know this was fully submergable.. is it really? overall i like it!

    How long do they take to get the water to desired temperature?

    • @fluval
      @fluval  5 лет назад +1

      That depends on the tank size, ambient room temperature, water surface to ambient air exposure and power of the heater. The E series requires placement in an area of good water movement due to its protective cage. In general 5 watts per gallon is recommended and would cover average room temperatures and aquarium target temperatures.

    Thanks fot the reply the room temperature is 18/19c not 14c ,the aquarium size is 240 L it has a cover it is the juwel Rio Led 240.
    So u think I should change the heater.
    Or do you think?

    • @fluval
      @fluval  5 лет назад

      Hello, we mentioned a 14C difference between the target you dialed in to the heater and the room temperature. In cooler rooms a minimum of 5 watts per gallon or 3.78L is recommended, given the very warm temperature you wish to maintain and the cool room temperature adding a second 300W heater should suffice.

      Yes, the expectation of maintaining 33C when your room temperature is up to 14 degrees C below is rather severe. What volume is the aquarium? Is there a glass top? Is there ventilation in the room?

    Sounds like a great heater but here's a tip Fluval, not everyone wants one for a tropical aquarium, I need one just to prevent my temperate tank going below 18°C on very cold nights so the minimum temperature setting of 20° is no good for me. As easy as that would have been to give it a wider temperature setting range, yet you didn't. Shame. Think outside the box a bit more guys! Now I have to give serious though about whether I want to continually run my tank at 20° especially considering that the accuracy is +/-1° which means it could actually be 21° and that's definitely too high for my requirements! That being said, it is a brilliant piece of kit though.

    • @fluval
      @fluval  2 года назад

      Hi there! 18°C is well below normal ambient room temperatures - aquarium heaters aren't at all made for those sorts of temperatures. We recommend you turn the heating in your home up a little!

      Amber, when you shift the control to the right and release, the indicated value should change. Is this not the case?

    • @fluval
      @fluval  8 лет назад

      Try unplugging the unit for a few minutes, then re-plug in and shift to the left. If your water temperature is above the set range, then the unit should be flashing red. When you shift, be deliberate; one clean motion and release and repeat. if this fails, then we'd suggest contacting your retailer (always a good idea to have your proof of purchase with you).

      The LF flashing is indicated with the unit detects low flow, it is important with the E Heater to make sure it is exposed to good water movement, this is indicated in the instruction manual, you may see this using the following link: www.fluvalaquatics.com/manuals/Fluval_A771-A772-A773-A774-E-Heater_Manual.pdf

      +WILDWELSH Taking the temperature of the room into consideration is good thinking! In this case, 300W is probably a good power level to start with. Make sure to place your E Series heater in an area where there is good water movement. This is important for this model of heater due to the protective housing it is supplied with.
