The 80's were so cool. Being a teenager in the 80's I took the sounds, the looks for granted. It was just how it was. Now looking back, with all this retro stuff and basically anything goes nowadays, I now realize how cool and original all this was.
All i ever long for is the 70s and 80s. By the time the movie colors was released and nwa was introduced in 1989 that's when the world started spinning out of control. That's why i would limit it to the 70s and 80s with the very late 60s maybe for good measure. Parts of the 90s and very early 2000s had its moments but collectively was a crock of waste because originality and live instrument elements/ voices were beginning to fade and wane. Makes me want to throw up on this garbage that's been made into gulag(mystery mix), force fed to me and passed off to us as "real" or "good music" over the past 25-30 years, g the f o here
Fell down a bit of a Shanice & Tracie Spencer rabbit hole, and this popped up. WOW - haven't heard this or seen this video since it was fresh. I'm just astounded, because as soon as Tracie appeared, I remembered this video. Listening to the song now, and I dig it FAR more than I did in my youth. Love this.
I'm glad Tracie has been popping up recently via social media. An unsung talent for sure. This is a fun tune; with the choreography, it sort of reminds me of "Catch Me I'm Falling" by Pretty Poison. That bridge 2:47 is everything, YES!🔥
I was a HUGE fan of Tracie Spencer I wish they would do an Unsung episode on her find out her story and why she did not go further in her career like she should've.
Love me some Tracie Spencer. It drives me crazy how underrated she is and so many people are sleeping on her music. She's been pushing out songs since 11 or 12 and most people know the song Tender Kisses but babbbbbbyyy Tracie had many other hits! It's too bad she doesn't get the love she deserves up with many other deserving artists!
11? and her parents let her dress like that? she was ahead of her time i guess. you see kids wearing less now (the sexulization of children, i swear) but back in this day....
hardly sexualizing her. just an observation. being the father of two teenage girls, i guess when a pubescent girl wears something like that, it kind of stands out as i am a little protective of my girls (and they do turn the heads of the older guys, fortunately, they are very street wise thanks to dad) and i would HOPE someone would bring it to my attention if they decided to dress like that behind my back. call me a little old fashioned, but i think if a FATHER especially has no problem with his little girl - making the transition from girl to young woman - a TWELVE YEAR OLD girl dress like that... i think there is something weird about that. would not happen in my house. that outfit of Tracie's would not pass a school dress code today, and if i had to guess, probably would not have met the standard back in her time, in her middle school back in waterloo, iowa! if my comments are interpreted as juding her parents, then yes, i guess i am. just my opinion.
She recently said she had people singing everything so she could copy the adlibs. That is why she sounds mature and professional. Still better vocalist than 90% of all R&B starlets today!
I was 11 years old when this came out, so excited when I got the cassette, had such a crush, Tracie Spencer was everything in my childhood so glad to have grown up when I did #80sKid
I love Tracie I remember as a kid watching her videos in the late 80s. Amazing singer and very pretty. Watching this video now make me miss the 80s and the 80s fashion.
Never heard this song. It's so catchy and so 80's (which I love). Tracie was such a cutie and so talented for such a young girl. I had no idea she'd been recording professionally since she was a kid.
This was one of my faaaaavorite songs of hers. I would sing it over and over back in the day. Still sing along. I miss this era. We had amazing music. She was one of the young and rising artist with a big voice❤❤
43 year old man here and I've loved this song since i was 13 this one always takes me back to junior high and first crushes a simpler time before life and love got so complicated LOL
Could Tracie be any cuter? Could this song be any catchier? Could this video be any more 80's? Can anyone stop me from asking any more questions....please?
rgrndu Exactly~ Could not be any cuter! You just fall in love with her and want to protect her from the mean damn world! What a little doll! She should have been bigger than Madonna! 💔☺️
I can't believe an artist like Tracie Spencer could sound so mature yet so young to sing this song! I was only 13 when I first heard this song in early 1988. I thought it was Taja Sevelle who sang "Love Is Contagious" was once the voice behind this song. Once I also thought she was Moana Wolfgramm of the 80s band "The Jets".
Shanice ran into to Tracy on Instagram and if you grew up with Tracy you got your life to see her again. Tracy still looks amazing with the passage of time it was such a treat ♥️
I’m an 80s baby and I miss those video days. This is when background dancers and extras were genuinely diverse. And EVERYONE looks like they’re happy while working😂❤
Yes, I agree. This takes me back to the awkward 11-year-old that I was in 88. Loved the 80s music to this day. I miss it as well as artists like Tracie. She should have gone on b/c she had a lot to offer. Probably too classy for today's music. God bless the 80s pioneers like Tracie!
This Girl is AWSOME! Just watched Hit after Hit! I remember these songs, funny how songs like these was a big part of our past back in the 90's! Cant believe she was only 14, well that I've seen post after post:) WAIT... 12? WOW!! THANKS.
Same! I recently saw a clip of this video on IG and the song has been stuck in my mind for week. This song takes me back to the summer of '88, I was 8 going on 9. Thanks RUclips for taking me back down memory lane.
This beat is so sick its exciting & has an urgency to it & fits the lyrics so perfectly. She was on Nickelodeon showing everyone how to do her dance lol
i remeber this song playin on the radio many many years go but the melody stuck in my head and i didnt know who sanged it, thank God for youtube!!!!!! *btw im 25 and i still love all the 90s rnb*
Love it love her this song was everything to me when I was 9 year old she’s amazing I followed her career for years she’s she underrated and such a talent
The 80's were so cool. Being a teenager in the 80's I took the sounds, the looks for granted. It was just how it was. Now looking back, with all this retro stuff and basically anything goes nowadays, I now realize how cool and original all this was.
Same thing I feel about being a teen in the 90's, took it for granted that it'll last forever now I long for those days.
Ahhh, you nailed it!
So true

Glad I grew up in the 80s! We had the best artists with pure talent! It was a great time for music!
This has to be one of the best songs EVER by any 12 year old on planet earth !!!! Unbelievable vocals at such a tender age.Truly mind blowing !!!!!!

Yessssss
Tracie is humbleness, innocence, & talent rolled into one. A promising young girl with a dynamite voice.
These were my dance moves back in the day...I might break them out again in my living room tonight lol.
I love how they are just repeating the same 10-15 moves.
Do it!!
@@MyAccountForCommenting freestyle choreo is wot its called! 😊
@MyAccountForCommenting 1:09-1:12 What was *that* dance move called?? I always called it the "Sideways Hammer" lol.
Tracie sounds like a angel and her voice is incredible. Her And Aaliyah are my favorites since they in star search.
I was a HUGE fan of Tracie Spencer I wish they would do an Unsung episode on her find out her story and why she did not go further in her career like she should've.
Good choice! I would like to see an episode on her too!
I was about to say she should be on Unsung
The RUclips channel "Let's Get to the Root" did an Unsung like video on her. That's how I discovered this video. I hopes this info helps.
She probably realized the music industry is lead by satan and exited stage right.
She bowed out gracefully.
I remember this, I was drawn in because of the cuteness, the dancing, and the comic bookish background of the song, very creative and fun.
Hair goals.... I remember trying to do mine like hers. Tracy Spencer was everything.
Danata Dillard yes she and shanice were true teen princesses of that era
*BIG HAIR DON'T CARE!!!*

A true talent for a 12 year-old girl in the 80's.
***** Sorry 😮😊
11? and her parents let her dress like that? she was ahead of her time i guess. you see kids wearing less now (the sexulization of children, i swear) but back in this day....
madskyltd I thought about it too
hardly sexualizing her. just an observation. being the father of two teenage girls, i guess when a pubescent girl wears something like that, it kind of stands out as i am a little protective of my girls (and they do turn the heads of the older guys, fortunately, they are very street wise thanks to dad) and i would HOPE someone would bring it to my attention if they decided to dress like that behind my back. call me a little old fashioned, but i think if a FATHER especially has no problem with his little girl - making the transition from girl to young woman - a TWELVE YEAR OLD girl dress like that... i think there is something weird about that. would not happen in my house. that outfit of Tracie's would not pass a school dress code today, and if i had to guess, probably would not have met the standard back in her time, in her middle school back in waterloo, iowa! if my comments are interpreted as juding her parents, then yes, i guess i am. just my opinion.
If anything that wiki says is ever true, she was born in july 1976
I totally forgot about this song! I used to play this all the time back in my youth. I still love it...makes me long for the old days.
Me too
Don’t long for “the good old days.” This is not wise. - Ecclesiastes 7:10 (NLT)
ONE OF THE BEST FEEL GOOD SONGS OF ALL TIME!!!
Can y'all believe she was 12 at the time... Crazy talent😲
12 years-old singing about "true love".
How can so many people be so idiotic.
Music, that's how.
I thought she was 14
Wow I was 10 when this dropped in 87"
her grown woman music sucked. 1999 I'm looking at you.
She recently said she had people singing everything so she could copy the adlibs. That is why she sounds mature and professional. Still better vocalist than 90% of all R&B starlets today!

If you listen to her vocals today....she was ahead of her time. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I was 14, loved this song. Choreography so simple... Sweet puppy love
I grew up knowing who Tracie Spencer was, but I had never heard this song before. A co-worker told me about this song. It is awesome.
I remember when she always win every week on Star Search.
Yes she did..lol wow good memory
I REMEMBER THAT NOW THAT U SAID THAT LBVS
I love Tracie I remember as a kid watching her videos in the late 80s. Amazing singer and very pretty. Watching this video now make me miss the 80s and the 80s fashion.
What a fun-catchy-song. Love the 1980's production.
Never heard this song. It's so catchy and so 80's (which I love). Tracie was such a cutie and so talented for such a young girl. I had no idea she'd been recording professionally since she was a kid.
Unsung needs to do an episode on Tracie. I first discovered her back in 1999 with "It's All About You..." then she was gone!
7mandoblu I wish they would! That would be so cool!

7th grade, for me... 1988. Had a girl in all my classes through to twelfth grade who looked just like her, too. Had the BIGGEST crush on that cutie.
I miss the 80's so much

Could Tracie be any cuter? Could this song be any catchier? Could this video be any more 80's? Can anyone stop me from asking any more questions....please?
I could get you to stop, but it would violate a host of state laws. I'd rather read your questions.
Keep asking
rgrndu Exactly~ Could not be any cuter!
You just fall in love with her and want to protect her from the mean damn world! What a little doll!
She should have been bigger than Madonna! 💔☺️
I was literally answering 😩
Early 90s
I can't stop listening to this song. So catchy! Tracie has always been talented
I forgot about this song . This was during my Miami Vice Phase when I was both Crockette and Tubbs

Una gemma, con un sound e un equilibrio rari per quel genere di canzone.
Thats some serious production!

This beat is so sick its exciting & has an urgency to it & fits the lyrics so perfectly. She was on Nickelodeon showing everyone how to do her dance lol
Back when artists were required to have actual talent.
Tubedoll um, I dunno why everyone nowadays is so absurdly nostalgic, but talentless pop stars were around in droves in the 1980's.
Check out the top 40; talentless pop stars are still around and they're all over the place; instagram, twitter etc.
that you can say that after listening to this song only indicates you are tone deaf. terrible song.
auto-tune today is an amazing thing
No it's not. Auto-Tune sound like Technology White People, NO SOUL.
Why did I only hear this song for the first time today? I like it very much.
I still love this song after all these years
My favorite of all time, so far, by her!!!
I always been a Tracie fan… she’s so pretty here & grew up to be gorgeous!
Someone had the audacity to say that she was a "one hit wonder"...I beg to differ!!! Tracie Spencer was a jewel in her time. Love ya girl!!!!
Saw her in Vegas...88' awesome singer! She laces it at the end...makes my hair stand up!!!!
I miss the 80s and the early 90s... So sad.

Wish she hadn’t left the music business. Loved seeing Tracie and Shanice on Sherri Shepherd’s show. They’re both beautiful inside & out.
BRING BACK THE 80'S !
This young lady had talent written all over her.this record blew me away when I first heard it back in the nineties.
That was my jam!
All this talent and no American idol, no Voice, just talent young and simple
