When I used a chest freezer I kept a white board with what I put in it, how much of each item, and the date. This helped me keep from losing things in the freezer. Erase each item as you use them.

    • @mariacopland1091

That’s exactly what I do. I also put the items in baskets so that I can lift out baskets to see what is underneath, rather than having to move lots of individual items.

Hate chest freezers, before downsizing we had the largest upright we could find. Loved it, each shelf had it's own label. One for beef, one for pork, one for chicken and fish, drawer for vegetables and small drawer for fruit.
Seeing that minus zero and the fireplace on gives me shivers. It's 10:17 pm and still 76 degrees. We have the air-conditioning on.

They probably know that but want to leave some for their neighbors. My son and his roommates live in a small town in UP MI. One house. They could triple up on stuff but they won't unless someone asks them to, like a large family with kids that need milk or something. Everyone is cool like that. Unlike most places people just grab more than they need whether they need it or not.

In NY we are still experiencing shortages. Random items, makes bulk shopping a pain. I find myself shopping at two or three stores to get everything I need. If you are brand loyal it can be an inconvenience as well. I find some brands just not available but plenty of generics. Just depends on the week and grocery store.

I got the 30 pack of KS Bath tissue at $16,99 this last weekend in Azusa, CA. I just remembered I should’ve stocked up on the bacon, the cost will be going up soon. Overall, the pricing is good at Costco compared to the local grocery stores, there you really see the impact of inflation, prices skyrocketed and packaging is getting smaller.

Well if you saw where they where filling orders to go out to the outer village's, that could have been why your Fairbank's Costco was low on many items. As they can only get items sent out on the ICE ROADS this time of the year, so I'm sure that is a big reason for your shortages there.

Even us in remote Northern BC areas stock up lots too. We are about 2 hours from the closest city so at any given time the highway can be closed. We go to town/costco maybe every month or two. So our costco hauls are usually upwards of 500.00 each time. As far as i could see our prices are close to yours.
I always enjoy watching your channel thanks.

Costco seems to be the most similar as far as prices in across states, I've seen several different alaska vlogers shopping haul videos and places like kroger, safeway etc seem to be way different, most things at costco are the same as here in oregon or within a dollar or so...

Our Costco in Iowa is fine. No buy restrictions (that I know of) and no shortages since, like, maybe July '20 and even then it wasn't bad. I think people here have resumed shopping in smaller quantities like they did pre-pandemic knowing they can go more regularly as long as they heed Covid protocols, which everyone seems to do with no problems. Comparatively, your total cost is maybe about 10-20% higher than what we pay.

we're in Alberta, Canada. still a limit on TP and paper towel, but people have calmed down now. In March/April people would only come out wit TP and then they'd bought so much they tried to return it.... like it's not gonna go bad but luckily that's a non-issue now. at that time there was limits on canned corn and lots of dairy products, people freaking out, runs on baking supplies too especially vanilla, yeast and flour.

I asked a worker, he said that it flies off the shelf once they get it in. I didnt think they had a production problem. Once it was in stock....it was ONE per customer.

I'm down in Palmer and here and in Anchorage and because of weather and other delays.. some spots in the store have been very bare again.. even Costco (we went last week for my step daughter's family as they've got covid at their house, so we did their shopping and dropped it on their porch..) had gaps... we were able to get most of their list..but some things she was going to have to try having delivered from other stores... but there have been big gaps at all the stores lately...

My wife found your channel. We have been thinking about driving to Alaska in a few years. We live in rural Arizona and our Costco is 55 miles away over a 7,200 mountain pass. It does not get that cold here. Just over 40 years ago, when I was going to school in Laramie, Wyoming it got to -34 below. My best friend was from Juneau.. Until your video I had no idea how life could be in the winter in Alaska. It's wonderful that you shared your Costco trip. I was watching the prices with great interest. Like your organic ground beef was the same price as here, $19.99. My wife guessed your haul would be $450. Love your next video with your husband going to Seward. That got us thinking Is there a ferry from Homer to Seward?
