The Atari Network has 3 goals (besides entertainment) that I hope embodies everything the channel does:
1. Bring awareness to Atari, especially the often ignored Tramiel and 7800 era
2. Make sure the hardworking people both new and old (from the old guard at Atari corp to the new developers keeping Atari alive) get the recognition that they deserve for their hard work
3. Preserve the history of Atari in the video game hobby so that it survives long after us

A couple of things:
If you enjoy the formatting of giving a little information on newly announced stuff, jumping into the thumbnail game and then capping off with updates on other projects, please let me know.
If you have suggestions of things you want to see covered, leave it in the comments!
Should we add another segment just shouting out something that's been out a long time that you might've missed?
And finally, do you want the videos kept brief or would you like them jam packed with games? My thoughts were to let the featured games breath but I dunno.
Okay guys thanks for checking out the first homebrew update video on the channel! Many more to come!
@@TheAtariNetwork I wouldn't mind seeing existing homebrew games reviewed. There are plenty on the Jag, about which I know very little.
@@cyrollan the Jag is gonna have the spotlight game again next month! And thank you for the input it helps to know what you guys want!
I like the idea of videos like this giving a mixture of news and features.
I hope this series launches your channel to the stratosphere!
As soon as I saw Doom Slayer Edition, it is what I have been anticipating for my Jag! A PERFECT replacement to the 1995 original!
@@Gecko1993HogheadIncOfficial I doubt it will launch the channel but I'm really looking for feedback. August will have more to show, I wanted to nail the format for this one.
Really like this new series, this channel is quickly becoming one my favorites for game info. My only nit pick would be it's too short. Maybe a shout out to available homebrews for us late to the party.
Yeah this one was a bit short but August's will be a bit longer. Thanks for the kind words
hopefully the Doom Slayer Edition creator sees this. i would pay big money for that on a cart! (which is a funny thing to do, considering i purchased Doom Remastered for $5 on the PS4.)
@@cyrollan I would too! There's probably some legality concerns but they could offer it via word of mouth on the AtariAge forums as many others have over the years ...
You cannot resell Doom. No other retro community has ever gotten the rights to resell Doom. can you imagine if one group like the guys doing the doom slayer edition got the rights to resell doom while that could potentially upset 30 years of the retroduced home brew culture as bunch of authors clamped down on their builds wanting money for them.
A 512KB cartridge for the 5200. Can you imagine how insane that would have sounded 40+ years ago! Cool video:)
That's a great start for this new series 😊
Thank you!
I could be remembering wrong, but I think the Spectre is in the Jaguar version, they are just not translucent, so they look exactly like the demons.
@@jeremiahthomas8140 gotcha your probably right... As usual
Cool video! Thank you
I really like this video homebrew highlights , can’t wait to see the august version , thanks Jon
Lot of impressive stuff
Great video ! All good looking stuff, here is to hoping Doom for Halloween !
@@tomevil6 I'm optimistic but also wouldn't be surprised if it didn't happen
Atari Jaguar was a cool system with so much potential.
Looking forward to Video 61’s Robot Holocaust.
Agreed. It looks really good to me
Rip and tear
@@langbo9999 ripping and tearing is what the channels known for
New 5200 game? Sign me up!
I'm going to choose to ignore you...
@@TheAtariNetwork I think you may have me confused with someone else… 😇
@@TheAtariNetwork seriously though; I’ll be watching for news on that 5200 game… and thanks again for the shout out! Got some stuff to test for those consoles… if I’m feeling froggy I will record some of it 😁
I would say just download any of the Doom games on switch. I get that you want a better Jag port but these switch versions are phenomenal...just saying
I finally received my Mr Run and Jump limited edition for 2600 played it and enjoyed it and actually gotten farther than I did on the vcs. But sad news was after I removed the cartridge to play Bentley Bears Crystal Quest my 7800 was dead in the water!😮 Thought it was a faulty adapter and bought another one but nope, 7800 has no power. Sucks. Luckily I have another 7800 but needs av modded but at least it does work. Mod my 7800 or a 2600+. Hmmm.. Yes Im definitely intrested in this Doom hack. Ive got Doom Resurrection on the 32× in cartridge form and its great so if Slayer edition is anywhere as good as what was done on the 32× it'll be a gem.😊
@@dad7275 there might be a third option over 2600 plus and modding that I'm touching on this Sunday. Of course there is a down side in the form of not being able to play the actual cartridges but it's still an option to play from a real 7800. Stay tuned!
Reach out to OGHUGO and crossbow on the discord too. They might be able to help you with some information or even be able to do the work for you. Discord link is in the description.
@@dad7275 maybe you could remove the power supply from the second 7800, and install it into the one that's already AV mod?
@@cyrollan thats true if thats the problem which it sounds like it might be. If OGHUGO agrees to it I might just send him the second one to be completely capped and modded. Still kinda sucks because the one that went down is part of the first runs of the 7800 which contains the expansion port not found on the later model.
I like the look of that robot game, but damn that name is a bit much!
Yeah it's a bit heavy
That Robot Holocaust game looks fun as hell lol
@@KrunchyTheClown78 I found better video of it from Peter after I posted this video. I'll link to his channel when I get home so you can see more!
@@TheAtariNetwork Awesome!
I always wanted Rise of the Triad on Jaguar and wonder why no one has ported it. It even has a Dreamcast and GP2X port ffs.
It's difficult to maintain enthusiasm for a game that was announced years ago and with no release date. I was interested in Doom Slayer Edition, but I'm not anymore.
@@64-Bit-Gamer I get that but I still think it's wise not to rush or make an arbitrary release date. Doom slayer edition isn't this fellas main job, so it's just something that he's working on and I doubt he'll see profit from his hard work. But I respect your opinion, it's perfectly valid.
@@TheAtariNetwork Well you know I don't want to be critical of anyone, and I understand these things take time. Anyway, one game I really like is Gravitic Mines. It's very addictive and worth a look in a future episode.
Yeah and after 5 years this is I dunno. Not that impressive. Look at what the 32X project got accomplished in half that time.
@@jh5124 My thoughts exactly.
If Doom+Doom 2 was done on the 32X, it's going to run well on the Jaguar.
nice
I hope someday someone does Atari 7800 homebrews of Custer's Revenge and Beat em and Eat It. That would rock!
I am not waiting. I am enjoying DOOM Resurrection on the 32X now. 30Hz / full screen / fixed music. I even have shoulder button strafing by using something called an SG ProPad 2. Sorry it is not Atari. Make it a DOOM 2 Slayer Edition and I am there.
Is the frame rate way down?
@@mikejohnson699 all the video is of work in progress stuff so it's possible that the frame rates are low

Guys this Doom slayer edition is never going to come out. If you watch the zero page home brew awards the head Reboot guy talks about chex quest coming out first due to licensing. Once they start talking about licensing, it means they're trying to sell it.I don't know what they did with the or what deal they procured with the chex uest creators , but you can bet they're gonna be charging you premium on a cart for that.
As for Doom, nobody's ever gonna get the license to resell Doom , so it's never gonna come out.
