Thanks for uploading this. This James Hardie race was shown in the UK because of the TWR Jaguar victory. I remember being blown away with the track, the remote control swivel cameras in the roll cages and the sound of those big V engines. So much better than what we had here at the time.
I know that I'm 5 years late but I remember seeing this on ITV back in 85 and it's the one race that has stuck in my memory for all these years. A BIG thanks for posting it.
Absolutely love how there is a Volvo 240 hunting around in 3rd place but not a mention of that by the commentary. Great car and a fabulous driver well and truly battling outside his class!! 😂 😂 😂 😂
Great upload - the last Bathurst worth looking at. The Jags and the Beemers just looked fantastic. And I'd forgotten that Brock was driving without a windscreen. 10 seconds behind the Jags and he'd be covered with burning oil.
as one of my passions has been Volvo and was in 1985, I am always amused by the attitude to Volvo back then as reinforced by the commentary on the opening lap. There is Robbie Francevic in the 240T blasting up to challenge an XJS for second and nary a word from the commentators ... a blindness until they eventually had to mention "great start too from Robbie Francevic ..."
Never ever get sick of mike Raymond's commentary he is a gold plated pro along with Gary wilkinson and Evan green those voices are burned into my memory from many many early mornings of ch 7 s telecasts. when ch 10 took over it turned into a circus with Neil crompton and he's constant moaning about fuel loads and technical garbage but worst of all mark larcom and his white board and texter explaining to the new breed of brain dead viewers what a diff is or what a wheel does. il watch this stuff and pretend it's 1985 all over again
Best thing about Group A was that Cams and the ARDC couldn’t change the rules to help their favourite brand - well not until 1990 , when they had to step in to redress the balance . But they did make sure the Jaguars couldn’t return in 1986.
Great race and great to see all that competition of various makes of cars not just Holden and Ford as today. Pitty the comentary mostly ignored actual racing info as Volvo and ALFA were sometimes competitive but hardly a word from them! The camera even zooming them out of the picture in some cases! Volvo was in second for a long time and they hardly spoke of it the wankers!
this is how it should still be. I love how you hear all the different engine notes whizz past the camera. instead of everything sounding the same

Wow what a range of cars!

I noticed that at the start, thinking to myself....that looks like a Vulva...it is, it is, its is a Vulva. Great racing. Credit to Volvo. Gee.
The Jaguars looked superb.

That's because Volvo is as loved as a red headed step child.
@@RtB68 funny bastard.
It's all history now, but if the alternator had not failed on the Volvo it would have been very interesting
Ah yes, when Bathurst 1000 was not just another Ford vs Holden race.

Jaguar v12 awesome engine !!
The Jags had cosworth high lift valves - which formula 1 technology at the time .
Good for another 40-50hp.
random one off jaguar domination
fat cat: I'm not surprised that the Jaguar V12 won!
A magnificent race, way to go Tom. R.I.P
Still won.Better cars pal.

Tie wrap the seat to the roll cage...lol

The Aussies are missing a lot since they switched to that stupid "Supercar" format.
Steve Raymond.....Tom 'WALKINGshaw'.
d9idnt the two jags get disqualified to memory for running illegal fuel to memory
No
you're thinking of the texaco sierras...
@@lifelongbachelor3651 Ahhh that's right! They were saying "Who put the sauce in the Eggenberger Sierras"
