No one beats Tarja even if the production is older and Tarja much younger than Floor was in this video. Tarjas strong and warm voice was and still is amazing.
Love Floor to the moon, but for me this is Tarja's song. This was my favorite NW song for so long before Floor. If they only got Mr. Wilska to do the male vocal parts in that first video... Perfection!!
This anti-war anthem is the most important just right now. I like it a lot. Both versions are excellent, and conveyed this sad and humane message. Welcome back, Viking, and Happy New Year from Finland! ⛄👍
Amen. Have to say with the lyrics in front of me & the world gone the way it has gone - for almost 11 months already - I just burst into heavy cry when the machine gun -sound came from Floor. "Today I killed, he was just a boy Eight before him, I knew them all In the fields, a dying oath: "I'd kill them all to save my own" Cut me free, bleed with me, oh no One by one, we will fall, down down Pull the plug, end the pain, run and fight for life Hold on tight, this ain't my fight Deliver me from this war Its not for me it's because of you Devils instant my eternity Obey to kill to save yourself Cut me free, Bleed with me, Oh no One by one, We will fall, down down Pull the plug, End the pain, Run'n fight for life Hold on tight, this ain't my fight "I envy the 9 lives that gave me hell My path made up by their torn bodies Man to man, soldier to soldier, dust to dust Call me a coward but I can't take it anymore" They wait for me far back home The live with eyes turned away They were the first ones to see They are the last ones to bleed "The ultimate high as all beautiful dies A rulers tool, a priests excuse, a tyrants delight... I alone, the great white hunter Ill march till the dawn brings me rest 10th patriot at the gallows pole! " Cut me free, Bleed with me, Oh no One by one, We will fall, down down Pull the plug, End the pain, Run'n fight for life Hold on tight, this ain't my fight Cut me free, Bleed with me, Oh no One by one, We will fall, down down Pull the plug, End the pain, Run'n fight for life Hold on tight, this ain't my fight"
Tarja's machine gun sounds are so sharp and powerful, always gives me chills 🙏🏽❣i also really like how they developed the song and Floor did really well with it too! the studio version is one of my favourite Nightwish songs from their whole catalogue, I rarely ever skip it
This shows exactly what you expect in a band playing songs from its past in the present. I am glad the song got the treatment it did for the Decades tour - love both versions.
Exactly my thoughts, this is the kind of evolution you wish to see. :) I love both versions dearly as well. Hard to believe the song is almost 22 years old and the live performance with Tarja was almost 21 years ago!
Love this song, but as much as i adore Floor ..this to me is Tarja's song..album version with Wilska is defenetly worth to check out😊very glad that you're back, missed your reactions 🤘🏻🍻
Cool that you did a double reaction, I often like those !! Have you seen them do The Kinslayer or The Siren ? They re both from the Tarja Era (End of an Era concert) both I'm pretty certain Floor has done them as well ! 😊
I like both versions! While I usually prefer Floor singing Nightwish songs no matter what era, I think Tarja's operatic style really fits this song. I do like Floor's more aggressive style on this song though and of course her versatility.
What a good idea to do these back to back. I hadn't heard the older version before, so lovely to being able to compare and she the musical and production development over these 16 years. Love it! Also that Marco had a more prominent singing role, including harmonies. Indeed fun!
I'm a heretic in that I usually prefer Tarja on Tarja songs. But specifically on this one, that middle section with Marco's (formerly Tapio Wilska's) spoken word vocals, her vocals sound bombastic, as they should. If you think they were young here, try something from their 2000 live video "From Wishes to Eternity", like "The Pharaoh Sails to Orion", "Wanderlust", "Deep Silent Complete". Or even younger, and with short hair, their 2 song Finnish TV appearance in Jan. 1999.
Floor, not even close, but she has the perfect voice in my ears. Tarja has a beautiful voice, Nightwish with Floor is perfection. Great to see you back Viking, we missed you.
You're still here! Hahaha! So much has happened, and you're still here! I'm glad to see you here, my friend. Before I go into the ground and become food for plants, I am glad to hear your voice again at least once more.
Well...One thing to say...in Tarja era, I had 4 favorite Nightwish songs. Now...Floor era, I have 60+ favorite songs. Tarja is great, but Floor has my vote !!! Floor brought more Power to this song. This is the closest thing Nightwish has to a full on anti-war protest song, as it examines the horrors of war from a soldier’s perspective. This song has a clear narrator, an unnamed soldier suffering with guilt and shame at the actions he’s taken in war. The song begins with a simple statement that immediately begins to lay the groundwork for what the title of the song means. (Today I killed, he was just a boy, eight before him, I knew them all.) Meaning this is the 9th man the soldier has killed. The chorus of the song is just devastating, delivering a rapid fire desperate plea, with the soldier planning to desert even though they know they will be killed for it. (Run and fight for life, hold on tight, this ain’t my fight.) The second verse talks about how killing another person is something that happens in an instant but sticks with you forever. (Devil’s instant, my eternity) Marko’s part then begins, which seems to represent the darkest thoughts of the soldier. He talks about envying the nine soldiers and their blood now lines his path, and that he can’t take it anymore, even being labeled a coward means nothing. Later, Marko as the soldier states that they will march away from their duty until the dawn brings them peace, and they welcome capital punishment for desertion with open arms, becoming the tenth man down. (Tenth patriot at the gallows pole). Or something like that ,.... NWSU 🤘😎🤘.
Omg, that was Summerbreeze! Just around the corner. Wish I'd been there but I must've been around 14 and not into metal. I LOVE Floor but I prefer most old songs with Tarja's darker tone. Also feel that with some songs, like this one, Floor does seem to have a few diffuculties.
The dynamic Marko adds will always be missed, he was the best singer of Nightwish 😉. Very good underrated song glad to see it get some love, another overlooked one is “The Carpenter “ love Mario’s bassline in that one. “Dead Boys Poem” and “Elvenjig/Elvenpath” are also very good as well
They are so different in singing style, and i like both of them. Some songs will always be Tarjas, some will always be Floors and even some will always be Anettes. Great reaction as always 😀👍
The best with nightwish is that they can change thier songs to fit the vocalist , but best vocalist has always been Marco because he has fitted his voice to tree different female vocalist. And you need to watch Northen Kings with Marco and a total different kind of music and I think 5 Finish male vocalist
Total respect to Tarja! However, the new version is so much better musically as well as the sound and video quality. A much more mature musical arrangement and the harmony vocals on the chorus added so much more melody.
I felt the later version is better organized. Distinct in the presentation. The earlier version seemed unorganized. 100% most likely due to maturity musically. Floor has more flavors in her vocals. ❤️😎🤣
I like the Floor version much more...its more deverse than with Tarja and the Mix is great with Floors version... you can hear the drums, bass, guitar and the keyboards so well...yes a saw Hellfest and you mis Marko performance on stage...great reaction my friend and listen to Slaying the dreamer from the same concert...groeten and #beSafe
I prefer Tarja for her songs and Floor for new NW stuff. I think is not fair compare Tarja original songs with Floor's covers. NW is bigger now and sound is better, they matured, but it's built on Tarja's foundations. I'm not a fan of these comparisons. Floor and Tarja are both great singers. Unfortunately for Floor, Tuomas doesn't give her much space to shine in new things compared to what she did in Revamp, her previous project. In my opinion, her best NW songs are Tarja's covers, which I listened only few times, but I always go back to the origin. I think Floor's talent is completely burried in NW. I've also been following Tarja's solo career and she improved her voice totally. Although I didn't really like her first albums (mainly because I compared everything to NW), her latest album In the Raw is a humdinger. Every album of hers gets better and better. Her last album was the first time I actually liked her work much more than the NW album, In The Raw versus Human. And her performance is a far cry from her NW days. She is a queen of a stage.
Comparing 2018's Floor to 2002's Tarja would be unfair, I agree. Though I do believe that Floor could've sung this song just as well 20 years ago - but it's not really the point here. Some people predicted what would happen already 10 years ago, when Floor had just joined as a replacement for Anette. I've read a comment under one of those old phone videos which literally said: "If she stays, Nightwish may regain old fans like me, but her versatility may let Tuomas loose again (risk of shapeless pop-epic stuff for the next recording)." I doubt that the guy was a prophet, it's more likely that he just knew Tuomas pretty well. I wonder how much of Floor's decision to go pop with her solo stuff is actually hers. It might have been the only condition Tuomas would accept it on. Because, as you know, it's a mortal sin for one of his instruments to get a will on her own and start thinking about her solo career. It normally leads to open letters and massive dramas. I strongly suspect that if Floor and her old bandmate SIR Joost van den Broek started writing actual metal music, it would've been superior to what Tuomas came up with on H:N. The latest Nightwish album is basically pop, skilfully camouflaged as something bigger than what it really is. For me as a former classical elitist turned "trve" metalhead, it doesn't sound good from either point of view.
@@noneofyerbeeswax8194 I agree. Nightwish was already too small for Tarja's caliber. As she has said many times, she is a progressive person and wanted to improve, not just be a beautiful but melting ice queen in Tuomas's hands. And when she announced her departure after the next album, Tuomas punished her by firing her first and publicly shaming her in an attempt to sway fans to his side. But many fans turned away from the NW. He was said to be beside himself with anger when Tarja spoke at her own press conference. Probably it was a mistake on both sides, but the way they got rid of Tarja was shameful. The last NW album is really more mainstream. They lost their uniqueness a long time ago. They are bigger and more popular, but that doesn't say anything about the quality. I wonder how long it will take Floor to leave them. She is a great talent. Tuomas said he doesn't want to go in the direction Shoemaker is, where Floor has shined. They will go further to folk and mediocrity. But Tuomas is great and infallible, though a genius. We will be left with the first era and Floor's covers.
@@PetraPola The breakup with Tarja was absolutely atrocious. I like your remark on popularity vs. quality. The most viewed Nightwish videos are "Bye bye Tarja," "Amaranth," "Elan," "Nemo" - their most poppy stuff. "Phantom" is up there as well, but it's just because it's so famous. As to Floor - I totally get why she has been so happy working with them all these years, but I also have a feeling that it might change soon, if it hasn't already. I don't want to make any predictions and I do not wish for Nightwish to disband, but I think it might happen in the next years. Floor would've been perfectly capable of having a very successful solo career - especially now, when she has become massively popular and recognised as herself, not just as "the singer of..." Her commitment to Nightwish deserves all the respect, but I see no reason for her to keep staying committed if her talent is not being respected. Tuomas is a very talented composer and has been writing really good music - but he has also done a lot of questionable things and I won't be surprised if he ends up ruining his band in the end.
@@noneofyerbeeswax8194 I agree with everything. Floor is very popular now and would have a good fan base, but maintaining it is another thing. Even Tarja did not maintain an enormous mass of fans with her work, that was her weakness. She is an amazing singer, but she had to gradually learn how to compose music and write lyrics. And another thing is that many fans would expect from Floor the same as from Tarja in the beginning, the grandiose sound and epicness of NW. Which of course they won't get as both ladies have their own path. Tuomas' behavior towards the band members is terrible. First Sami, then Tarja and finally Anette. He couldn't fire either of them personally, only through open letter, email or another person.
@@noneofyerbeeswax8194 There’s a video of Phantom that has Over 72 million, so it’s definitely above Elan. That’s why NW had to make an official video. Some of their older videos with Tarja were originally posted on Nuclear Blast Records RUclips channel, so you would add both totals together. RUclips wasn’t even around when Tarja was in the band, yet her videos have way more views than current NW. Annette obviously has the most.
Both versions are amazing. The performance with Floor definitely got bigger in production. I love Floor's power and it was a nice change adding Marko and Floor singing together on the chorus. Thank you for this excellent double reaction.
Thank you Sir. I love both versions and both have their place in time as does the musical content. If I have to decide between lead vocalists then out of preference it is always Floor for me. I love both the Tarja and Anette eras of Nightwish but Floor has not only the more appealing voice for me but that "special something" that elevates everything she does. Thank you Sir. Paul 🙏👍😊♥️
This Tarja song to me they look like kids my fav band need more all 3singers kick ass this was cool floor did good too Tarja feels more theater present
This is the problem when this type of videos comparing, people expressing their opinion like they have the last word hahaha you should add that FOR YOU Tarja is better 😉
@@nicholew350 I don’t see any comment like this about Floor,🤷♀️ is a matter of preferences, so thats what i was saying about the comment and intention specially on the PERIOD part so 🙂
I prefer Floor version. I know Tarja’s fanbase is very aggresive with this, but Floor for me is less classical, more metal, and far versatile, and I love that chameleonic style!!!
I love this song! I really do like both versions. They are different, but good. I have noticed that you haven't done anything from Tarja's solo career. I recommend that you do a song called Shadow Play, the live version from her concert Circus Life from 2020. There you can hear how her voice has matured and grown. Plus I really like the piano on that performance. Here is the link: m.ruclips.net/video/0EHaYA2GFWY/видео.html
@@sergeiivanovich6827 yeah that's why she was asked to perform her own songs at Wacken 2022 as a solo artist, aka the biggest metal festival in the world 🤨 they only get bands and singers nobody knows obviously so they asked her to come and perform "nothing" 🤷🏻♀️
Tuomos often writes new arrangements, he's no slouch. No surprises here. The original song was written for Tarja but the new arrangement is written for Floor.
Great reaction to a great (underrated NW) song. Both versions are fantastic. It’s one of the songs NW hooked me in the past and not too many reactors address it. The song has evolved as has the members. The greatest difference you already mentioned is in the singing part. Not our Queens, but the amazing interaction between Marko and Floor makes that the BA had an edge for me. This extra feature is simply amazing during the complete BA2028 gig, making it for me their best concert (yes, even better then W2013) The latest tour is great, but without Marko Floor together it’s different and that level will not matched again. But who knows, last album was still great and another step in their evolution, very excited what announced 2024 album will bring !! You earned yourself a new follower !! Happy to see your other/next reactions 🤘🎸🤘
... once again my dear friend, it's obvious you like floor more, but first things first, 5+2 albums are more than 2. so this song was written for Tarja and floor just did a nice try and nothing else.... always adaptions to fit your love one but.....❤
While I do love tarjas voice I can’t for the life of me ever understand what she is saying 😂 I have to watch floors versions first and then go back to hers. Then I can decide better which I like more. She does have a beautiful voice though.
I can never get over that I can’t understand a word Tarja is singing no matter how good her voice is that just pisses me of 😂 though I heard some of what she’s doing nowadays and that’s a bit better
I have one explanation: you don't like metal. With Tarja, this song is much more powerful and driving! And this despite the fact that she sang it academ vocals (!!!). And Floor sang these places more "air," because she CANNOT sing like Tarja.
Tarja's version is technically much superior... This song requires an operatic and dramatic voice like Tarja's... From the beginning you can hear that Tarja's voice is more majestic, dark and apocalyptic, and her staccatos were great . Floor's interpretation seems more like a cover, even Marco had to help him to give more body and weight to Floor's voice and prevent it from sounding too simple, and the staccatos were very poor, they seemed like screams...
19:33 I get what you mean, The way Tarja did it sounded disconnected with the music, whereas Floor sounds more in time with the music. I too miss Marco, Marco and Floor were made to sing together.
19:30 el estocato de floor es muy pobre sin cuerpo, sin fuerza claramente cuando pasa a del canto o sea lo lírico le cuesta es forzado y queda horrible las partes em dónde tarja hace que la canción se destaque pierde fuerza.
its n o different..floor bring the metallallic out ,tarja is more opera,,.both for me are amazing.ithink they must ......yeppp... love ,,,and than ,,,,the best band with guitar singer in the wolrld"marko is shining
Unfortunately, this isn't really one of tarjas best performances. The studio/album version is definitely better, and really, really enjoyable. I would listen to that one.
Honestly, I've been listening to Nighwish since the beginning. This song is not the best and I always like to skip it. Comparing Tarja, Anette and Floor is really impossible. They all have completely different voices, but they all sing beautifully. Even in this way we can see Tuomas' moods. Tarja sang in a darker, gothic voice. She sang that way because Tuomas wanted her to leave out her operatic voice as much as possible and sing darkly. That's also why she's nicknamed the "ice queen of the north" Anyway, I can only stand this song and another one by Tarja, unfortunately I don't like Floor here, but that's just my opinion. After going solo, Tarja elevated her singing vocals to her liking
No one beats Tarja even if the production is older and Tarja much younger than Floor was in this video. Tarjas strong and warm voice was and still is amazing.
I doubt anybody will disagree when it comes to the quality of her voice. Point well made :)
Tarjas darker voice in this is just muah ❤️
I love both versions, floor is fenomenal her voice is so good, but Tarja's voice is unique and powerful
10th man down was the first nightwish music I ever heard in my life 15 years ago... I'm old ...
Same here. A Gundam 08th MS Team AMV. Life-changing.

You have to watch ALL of the Buenos Aires songs...it's an orgy of bad ass songs
Tarja is and will always be the mother of Nightwish....but Floor is the one who makes my spine tingle. Goosebumps like a cactus 🌵🌵🌵
I like that thought :)
@@VikingReacts You might as well say it. You can't hide who you prefer. It shines through as fxcx😁
@@Dipper737 psssst, let them figure it out ;)
@@VikingReacts we know it's floor... like I shine when I hear tarja
Floor is the embodiment of all NW songs and Floor is the most versatile. No to say that Tarja isn't good enough though.
Both versions are amazing. The performance with Floor definitely got bigger in production. I love Floor's power and it was a nice change adding Marko and Floor singing together on the chorus. Thank you for this excellent double reaction.
I prefer Tarja version
Thank you Sir. I love both versions and both have their place in time as does the musical content. If I have to decide between lead vocalists then out of preference it is always Floor for me. I love both the Tarja and Anette eras of Nightwish but Floor has not only the more appealing voice for me but that "special something" that elevates everything she does. Thank you Sir. Paul 🙏👍😊♥️
The newer version beats the old 10-0, but both are entertaining :D. I love this song.
Tarja ❤
Both are Nightwish (differend time).. so with Floor and Marco ii it developed and Nightwish does it better each time
Nice to see you are OK
This Tarja song to me they look like kids my fav band need more all 3singers kick ass this was cool floor did good too Tarja feels more theater present
The one thing you can always say about floor you can understand most of what she sings
True!
Nightwish - 10th Man Down - Live In Buenos Aires 2018 - Decades Tour is not my favourite version of this song, it is my favourite NW song.
Love both versions, but to be fair. Floor did great job changing this song to suite her voice.
I like Floor too, but THIS IS TARJA'S SONG HANDS DOWN!!! PERIOD!!!!!🤘
This is the problem when this type of videos comparing, people expressing their opinion like they have the last word hahaha you should add that FOR YOU Tarja is better 😉
@@socorroparra6274 Maybe, you should type this comment on all of the Floor ones as well.
@@nicholew350 I don’t see any comment like this about Floor,🤷♀️ is a matter of preferences, so thats what i was saying about the comment and intention specially on the PERIOD part so 🙂
@@hecaton8881 totalmente ♥️
I definitely like the Floor version more I just love her so much
I prefer Floor version.

Tarja's solo "career" is bull shit , she is nothing without Nightwish
@@sergeiivanovich6827 Well, that's just your opinion
@@sergeiivanovich6827 yeah that's why she was asked to perform her own songs at Wacken 2022 as a solo artist, aka the biggest metal festival in the world 🤨 they only get bands and singers nobody knows obviously so they asked her to come and perform "nothing" 🤷🏻♀️
Tuomos often writes new arrangements, he's no slouch. No surprises here. The original song was written for Tarja but the new arrangement is written for Floor.
Tarja is good, but to me, Floor is queen. Her versatility is unmatched.
Some songs are definitely Tarja songs like walking in the air, wish master and sirens. Floor kills this song ..so much better! Like your reaction!
Tarja and marko are so tallented together and tarjas voice.floor singing is diffrent but she has taking singing lessions from tarja
Tarja❤Floor the best!🇦🇷
Happy to see your other/next reactions 🤘🎸🤘
good job , There were many older songs Anette was unable to sing and this was one of them , she could not do the operatic style songs .
... once again my dear friend, it's obvious you like floor more, but first things first, 5+2 albums are more than 2. so this song was written for Tarja and floor just did a nice try and nothing else.... always adaptions to fit your love one but.....❤
When reactors do Tarja/Floor i miss more and more Tarja for me was the true sound of Nightwish but y like all 3 singers each one with own stile
Yeaaahhh!!! 🤘
in floor we trust ❤❤❤
Hi, nice reaction
While I do love tarjas voice I can’t for the life of me ever understand what she is saying 😂 I have to watch floors versions first and then go back to hers. Then I can decide better which I like more. She does have a beautiful voice though.
I can never get over that I can’t understand a word Tarja is singing no matter how good her voice is that just pisses me of 😂 though I heard some of what she’s doing nowadays and that’s a bit better
Viking, Northern Kings PLEASE. So much Northern Kings 2022 bruh PLEASE
I have one explanation: you don't like metal. With Tarja, this song is much more powerful and driving! And this despite the fact that she sang it academ vocals (!!!). And Floor sang these places more "air," because she CANNOT sing like Tarja.
I’m more into Floor but Tarja is great, both versions totally different from each other so thats great, no need to choose who’s better.
If you prefer a woman' singer...Tarja,of course!
Floor all the way!!
🤩👌💥💯
🤘😎 🇫🇮 💙
jepp apples and ...ok..like both....love floor ....but ...love for tarja.....
please dont comment marko is out.i know.iits my dream
All hale the REAL TRUE QUEEN 👑 of NIGHTWISH!!!!!, the very beautiful looking and very unique voice of the enchanting TARJA!!!!!😀👍👍👍🤘
19:30 el estocato de floor es muy pobre sin cuerpo, sin fuerza claramente cuando pasa a del canto o sea lo lírico le cuesta es forzado y queda horrible las partes em dónde tarja hace que la canción se destaque pierde fuerza.
😁🇫🇮💙🪄🎼✨💯🤘
I like simple cold metal from the era when the singer of Nightwish bought a performance outfit at a porn store.
🇫🇮🌹🌹🌹👏
its n o different..floor bring the metallallic out ,tarja is more opera,,.both for me are amazing.ithink they must ......yeppp... love ,,,and than ,,,,the best band with guitar singer in the wolrld"marko is shining
Acá realmente q la rompe es Marko!!
