This Session started the proverbial ball rolling for many more wonderful Sessions that continue today! I will love this particular one until I die! 💖💞💝
Tangerine Dream has always had it's "eras", with great musicians that made the group evolve. This is a new era, and from what I can hear, Tangerine Dream is in good hands.
I totally agree with your comment Tim, the band are in fine form. I hope to get a chance one day to see them if they visit the UK. I saw the Phaedra tour in Guildford UK back in the 70's and many more times since.
@@davef4163 were you able to see them in March of 2022? From what I understand, that’s one of the places they recorded “The Sessions Box Set” that I got when I saw them in the United States in September of 2023, and is in my opinion, one of the best things they’ve put out in decades!
Tangerine Dream Sounds is a absolute great for ever this time!!..I feel like a deep dive, .. my thoughts are one with the depth .. I just want to slide down with these sounds, .. into earthly karma !! ..
I know that lots of people may not feel comfortable TD carrying on without the master, but I feel Edgar will be looking down and offering his guidance from above and feel proud of what he built over the years.
I am definitely a TD fan, but this is too superficial for me. I miss the deep structure and that makes it boring. The Sonic Poem series were alright though.
Yep! Still lovin' this one!! This track, Blue Arctic Danube, & Sensing Elements, are my favorite Tangerine Dream pieces in many, many years! So glad for the Improvs & longer pieces again... it's been a while. Excellent Video Work!!!!!
Totally! To quote (notice the pun): "The band is better now than they've been in Ages". I agree, there's nothing wrong with any of TD's material, but this is most certainly better! (also, there's nothing wrong with Ages, and sarcasm is hard to identify when written down).
The Dream lives on. Edgar Froese will always be our TD God. Thorsten and Ulrich are fantastic composers. I have followed TD since '69 and the sound is still there without a doubt. Love TD forever. They have been a major inspiration for my music composition.
I saw them in concert in 1984 (I think) in London. It was right at the end of the analog synth era and each of them had what looked like a 15ft tall stack of patchbays, thousands of cables everywhere. I was probably (almost certainly) stoned so I don't remember any individual piece of music...just the lights going down, silence and then a low bass note building up in the darkness until it was so big that my molecules were vibrating. Like many here I've been a TD fan since I first heard them and I really love that 'TD' is not the people in the band but something that deserves to be kept alive by new players and custodians of the sound and feel of this music.
Earthly life has no answers to the meaning of life !! .. It is necessary to find fulfillment in peace alone .. .. The animals down there in the deep sea are the origin of freedom !! ..
Sounds like some sort of a rejuvenated Phaedra to me. Not to diminish the value of the piece in anyway. The addition of a violin player the the band was extremely valuable, IMHO.
Been a listener of TD for many years. They inspired me to play and I was able to put together some tunes but not at their level of course. Now eleven years, 8 heart attacks and several seizures later I can only enjoy what I once put together, with the inspiration from above. My memory can't recall the software function of Logic Pro any longer. (Short term memory loss sucks) I'm 72 also and thankful to still be around and enjoy TD. Take it easy.
I think especially Thorsten has a very good sense of that sound (and is an excellent musician anyway...). It was a very strange moment for me to realise last year when arriving at the planetarium in Bochum that those three young people standing at the door and having a chat where TD and that this band which I admired ever since I started consciously listening to music was younger now than myself, LOL. Quite a metamorphosis, but they are doing great!
I agree he did. And - especially looking at his work with Picture Palace Music on the one hand, and TDs output before Thorsten entered the band (...was it some 10 years ago already?) one can see that he actually brought a load of talent, sensitivity and musical skills with him already.
Contrary to impressions this is made AFTER Edgar Froese's death: Details "... is a completely improvised track of almost 30 minutes running time that Thorsten Quaeschning, Ulrich Schnauss and Hoshiko Yamane recorded in the studio of Dieter Dierks, the very same studio where 45 years ago three young men who called themselves Tangerine Dream recorded the albums Alpha Centauri (1971), Zeit (1972) and Atem (1973)."I can hear some Edgar Froese themes from his solo work in this, otherwise it is a worthy successor to his work.
It has some interesting segments, but it goes on too long in the same "loops", not really doing much sonically. It's almost like listening to bits and pieces from their soundtracks, like Wavelength, Near Dark, FireStarter, etc. and a bit from Tangram, but I want more from their Dolphin Dance (Underwater Sunlight), Optical Race, and similar albums. Obviously, not just duplicate the original material, but use some of those styles... loved the releases Paul Haslinger was a part of! It's nice to see Tangerine Dream "back", but I hope they mix up their soundscapes a bit more. Just none of that nauseous "space noise", like their early stuff (Electronic Meditation) and that era.
Many Thanks for your comments. This is their first improv. and they have moved on considerably in sound design. They will play one set at the Flow Festival, Helsinki, 2018 as a complete improvisation.
These guys and gal are just brilliant. I often leave your channel playin in the background and find myself so relaxed or deep in thought. Do you play keys yourself?
Way back in the late 70’s early 80’s I recorded some tracks. I’ve just set up with a Fantom 0 and Arturia soft synths. (Moog Modular V, Emulator, Jupiter 8 etc. Initially I’ll be doing background music for my other channel where I explore Abandoned Railways (@vintagetrainsandabandonedr5681). Then look to do something for the music channel. Watch this space!🙂
This actually sounds pretty poor to me: the improvisations aren't good, possibly because Schnauss isn't an improviser or much of a live performer: his albums revolve around beats and "shoegaze" mixing. The bass sequence on this sounds like that on Mota Atma, except it is tweaked quite a fair bit, and were it not for the use early on of the flute sound that Baumann once used I don't think this would remind anyone of the band's 70s output. At about 17.30 a synth sound appears akin to that used during the Logos era, but again nothing interesting is done with it. If Froese's music had some vision, I don't think this does...
This Session started the proverbial ball rolling for many more wonderful Sessions that continue today! I will love this particular one until I die! 💖💞💝

Absolutely YESSSS...I agree with you my friend David..Thanks
Edgar will not look down…. he is dead
Well, aren't you the cheerful fucking soul, bet you're a barrel of laughs to have a beer with 🙄
I Love it ! Love very early TD. Who even is still alive who remember Klaus Shultze? But this? This is MAGNIFICENT
If you can't absolutely devour this, you've never truly been a TD fan IMHO!! Brilliant work!!! MORE!! MORE!!

Could not POSSIBLY agree with you more!
Another great piece of music..
Fantastic. TD lives on.

As a big fan of 70's TD this was a nice surprise! Here's hoping we get more of this stuff!
Still Loving This Track!!!

I love it
Great experience to hear these sounds.
Saw TD live in Berlin on Friday, 25th. Pure bliss.
I saw TD live in the NL on the 24 10 2019 in Zoetermeer. First time live. Wow. What a performance. Can't wait for more.
me encanta!

TD never gets old. Long time listener. Thanks for the upload.
Oh how I wish for chance to play a synth at this level before I depart this planet....I'm 72 and a drummer.

Schmeicheln ist eine schwächelnde Vize
Excellent - Easily the best I heard from TD since, erm, 1979...? :-D
I agree, Michael. Sounds are very 'analogue', considering most of the gear is digital😊
I think especially Thorsten has a very good sense of that sound (and is an excellent musician anyway...).

Michael Brückner Thorsten has embraced everything the Maestro taught him..this is quite obvious in the Quantum Tangerine Dream!!
I agree he did. And - especially looking at his work with Picture Palace Music on the one hand, and TDs output before Thorsten entered the band (...was it some 10 years ago already?) one can see that he actually brought a load of talent, sensitivity and musical skills with him already.
+Michael Bruckner, +Prophet V ...Respect all round for the music, the video and the commentary.

👌 👌 👌 👌 Maravilhoso.😁

Great track, with more than a hint of the 70s analogue material, but it would have been more rock and roll if they'd called it the 4.00 AM session :-)
Yeah you can tell, it's very plastic and boxy in the sequencer area.
yes great

I don't know what the criteria is for these new 'improvs', except that Edgar apparently asked that they should form part of Quantum Years TD😊
