I really hope my plus ten lightning infused Lothric greatsword will do enough damage to him... I have to admit I'm really dreading this boss fight lol and that says alot considering the fact that I'll still have Gael and the Lord of cinder to contend with after defeating him.
To be fair, fextralife isnt claiming there is nothing more to know about bosses than their guides. But they give nice intros to what to expect. After i wiped on midir a bunch of times on my own, trying my own way with the basics from fextra, i ended up here for a better guide cause basically, i gave up trial and error on my own. Different levels of various guides are fine.
@@DM-rb2qt maybe I was originally a little too harsh on Fextra. It's just that their guide seems like they beat the boss once, never co op'd it and made a guide with their misguided tactics and passed it off as helpful when frustrated player are going to find it and just die more because of it. 3 years ago that really irked me.
This boss made me put the game down for a while. For months. I wasn’t even coming close and this guide changed everything for me. Nice work bro, I butchered him last night I was literally shaking when I did it lol smh
haha good to hear you finally beat him :) Yes it gets really intense in these games, when you beat a boss after you struggled a lot with him before. Happy to hear, that you found my guide helpful ^^
Finally, an actual strategy. Most "strategy" videos on RUclips are simply "watch my boss fight!" and offer nothing of substance. This contribution is exactly what I expect from a discussion of strategy. Fantastic!
I watched loads of videos and tried them all and they didn't work. I tried this video yesterday, tried for around 4 hours and.... It worked! Thank you very much. Stay in front of his head Be patient, only hit him once, maybe twice!
I refuse.. absolutely refuse to do a full run and not solo every boss. I very nearly cracked that rule on Midir. This guide helped a ton. Solo run saved!
Finally beat him after 3 hours! I had no estus left and I thought I was done, but then I staggered him and it only took two more hits to beat him. Excellent guide, you really just have to be patient, don't get greedy and study his tells. Once you're in the zone, eventually you'll outlast him.
Good guide. My issue with Midir and why I don't think he's a good boss is for 2 reasons. The fact he doesn't really have any weaknesses outside of taking a little more damage when you hit his head and having a fairly large hitbox, mixed with his massive health pool. The health pool would normally be fine, I dealt with it no problem in Bloodborne and it can work well in dark souls 3 as well, for example Gael has a high health pool but he gives you breathing room and can even be staggered after several hits. Meanwhile Midir takes and insane amount of hits and can kill you in literally 2 or 3 hits and even 1 shot you. The boss isn't technically that hard but there's stuff that causes the fight to go on and on and eventually you're going to make a mistake.
Yes I agree. Midir is a very binary boss. Don't get hit and hit his head once after dodging until he is dead. There is not much else you can do (at least melee). All you do, is just waiting for his attacks. And in Souls and esp. DaS3 there are many bosses like that, but they are usually not as punishing as Midir + only be able to effectively hit his head, limits your options tremendously. If you don't hit his head, you drag the fight on forever and create more opportunities for you making mistakes. I really dislike the one body part weakness design in this case. I think that is this boss designs biggest problem (ofc changing this would need a more complex move set for Midir).
It's also annoyingly one of the boss fights in the game that's actually harder when you summon a phantom since you can only get the occasional hit in on him with an even bigger health pool, and also the fact that he's changing targets which can really mess you up and you're more likely to get hit by his devastating attacks.
He is a giant dragon what did you expect? Not to mention he is the last Dragon Boss of the Souls Series, best make him difficult otherwise it would be too disappointing. He also gives you tons of breathing room for healing, since all of his combos have 2-3 second delays in between. I agree though that the head weakspot is ridiculous, but then again he does bring his head down low for you to hit, and it is common knowledge the head is a good weakspot. And how would you stagger a dragon? He was the literal descendant of the archdragons, he wont be so easily staggered as Gael. And he can be staggered, if you put pressure on his head long enough.
For me, it's not as bad as Friede. Against her I get so angry and frustrated. But when I die to Midir I don't. Why? Friede is extremely unpredictable (unless you fought her a million times, of course, but I'm talking as a casual player here). Midir telegraphs his movements extremely well and it feels like, if I get hit, it's because of me and not because of a randem quick attack.
No problem, hapyp you found it useful Yes I thought this would be the most useful approach. The problem might be that it takes too much time making guides like these this way. You have to record all the attacks (some are very rare), you have to develop a strategy for dodging them, etc. Makes a guide like this time consuming to produce (which might be why I only made few of them for my channel). Esp. the boss that usually might make a guide interesting for people, are also the most complex bosses with tons of moves as well.
Thank you for spending the time and souls to make this video. It has turned the most frustrating boss battle in the game into the most anticipated fight for each play-through.
Out of all the guides I watched this one truly made a difference. Still took me five tries after the 20 tries before the video but I got better each time! Thanks man!
I learn Midir's by trying helping people mostly at first. Then I watched your vid, tried Midir alone and with patience (that was hard), I beat him on my first serious try. Thanks for your guide, really helpful. And for people who can't beat him, just be a lot patient and only hit the head that's really the key !
This guy is never easy. Even if you've mastered his attacks, it's still a fight that will last for at least 12 to 15 minutes, in which a single mistake can get you killed. You can learn how to fight him, like every other boss, but that doesn't make it easy.
THIS is how it's done casuals. That other guide that goes for the tail is stupid and too many hosts die on me by doing that. They also trigger the tail attack too many damn times.
I disagree. Me and my cousin have been getting stomped by Midr on our new game + run, and our closest efforts so far have been where I - a strength build - bait his head and get the big hits in, while my cousin runs under and dexes his tail continuously. I agree though, the only downside is the damn tail swipe catching me as he spins around to go after my cousin. We had him down to less than a quarter HP last night and that's exactly how I died.
@@pinealdreams1064 I fight him alone though and if titles were a thing in DS3 I'd be a dragon slayer since I help hosts fight Midir, Oceiros and Nameless King. The only reason I stopped is because I kept getting summoned as that damned half light sissy. I wish there was an option to just redo a boss fight in the bonfire or something. Here's a funny story and maybe the host who summoned me might recognize this. I had one instance where a host just sat on the farthest corner of the cave, which I prefer to be honest, and let me destroy Midir taking probably a couple of hits. Then when he was about to die, at the corner of my screen I saw the host racing me for the last hit and he got comboed to death. Then he summoned me again and performed the gesture where he falls to the ground to tell me that he fucked up and I gave him the clap gesture. After that we went down again this time he just watched as a did the same thing. That said, I fought Midir probably 50 times before his patterns have been ingrained in me that now he feels slow but always fun. Head is the best way and I've probably killed him a few hundred times by myself.
I'm a bit late to the party, but thank you for an excellent guide! After having rage-quit him years ago, I finally picked my Dragonslayer's Axe up again and went at him, and I have since beaten him three times, all solo.
Astoria greatsword gave me a stunned/riposte opportunity when he was about 25%. Knocked him down to 5% and finished him easy (after fucking it up the first time though lol). Also a sharp Astoria Greatsword will give around 1022 dmg on a charged heavy attack, if you get the window (like after he does the pointing down flame/circle attack).
I've been going through so many guides and you provided what I needed. The missing aspect was staying in front of him and sure enough it worked. Well done sir.
Also worth noting: Dragonhead shield (you can find 2 in the DLC) has 80 fire damage block, very useful for his fire attecks. I also had massive success using dragonslayer/ringed knight armor as they have high fire and dark resistances
You just earned a sub. I tried DS3 for the first time years ago and put the game down before killing Vordt. I just wasn’t in the mood for the challenge. A week ago I was going trough my catalog and decided to give it a second chance. Midir was the only boss that I summoned someone for help when I first fought him in NG++ because I wanted the Katana and once again wasn’t in the mood. Today, in NG+++ I decided that I wanted to do it alone and thanks to your guide I finally made it. Thanks for your work, bro! I’m loving this game!
This guide actually helped me greatly. I died like 40 times to Midir and then watched this and it took like 3 or 4 tries to defeat him! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Been 3 years, but this guide was perfect. Tried a couple times at launch and got completely destroyed. After watching this guide I killed him on the first try. I used all my estus, but fealt prepared, and wasn't suprised by anything. Thanks.
When I first was watching you I was very greedy and thought you just got lucky. Then I finally listened to your advice, took it slow and crushed midir. Thank you
Thank you so much, I had never even been able to get to midirs second phase after hours of trying, but after watching through this video I got to it and beat him in one attempt, thanks bro.
haha thank you, you too ^^ I try to read all (new standalone) comments and also answer as much as possible on my channel, though these days I do more Tolkien and Lord of the Rings related content instead of gaming stuff.

I've come such a long way. From looking up guides and videos how to beat the Cleric Beast, to not even looking any guide and beating Midir all on my own. Soulsborne games are really special :)
I managed to defeat it today thanks to your guide. I had grinded that one Lothrick soldier outside of the Twin Princes' room for his lightning imbued greatsword before watching your video, which proved to be a good idea because of its single hit damage output. After that, trying my best to stay close to its head and in front of it while dodging the attacks and punishing when possible, while avoiding over committing brought me those 400+ souls. As you said, patience was the key. Took me 2 or 3 tries with your method.
Congratulations, well done ^^ Yes patience is key and the sword is probably a very good weapon to fight him. Happy my guide could help you out. I wish you a lot of fun on your further journey and thank you for commenting and sharing your story :)
Fantastic guide. I sent this to my friend who was struggling with him because I couldn't make him jive with the headsnipe strat by just watching me. Midir is actually my favorite boss in the Souls Series, since he's effectively a Monster Hunter boss in how you fight him and that is my favorite game series. I think for people who played MH he is a very fun and easy boss but for those who are more used to Souls he's much harder.
Great video - just love all the explanation you have done. You can add a small tip - if you are playing on a controller you may want to increase your camera speed - up to even something like 8-9-10...
I’m absolutely blown away. It seems like common sense especially with dark souls’ experience, patience. The way he worded that was perfect to what I needed to hear to apply my knowledge and skill from prior attempts. I’m about to go give this big boi a whoopin’ now!
Congratulations :) Happy my guide helped you out. Yes agreed, it may sound simple even if you already played the game so much, but patience is so important in this game and sometimes you forget, esp. if you get better at it and think you can beat every boss easy. Many bosses and enemies are always good at killing you ^^
I was struggling with my first SL1 run, had just Midir left to beat and I watched this video last night. Beat him tonight in like 5 tries :D Thanks for the great vid dude!
My Friede skils are decent enough, so I did not struggle that much against her. But SoC was a horrible experience. Just noted what a slog fest this boss fight is in the Level 1 run. It often offers very little reward for good dodging and movement (except for the mage phase), so often you just hit him once and it does not getter in phase 2. Was a terrible fight for me. I loved grinding the Gael fight, because it's just a fun fight, but SoC was a horrible experience. I beat him without prisoner's chain and only used an ember in phase 2 (I think there was one attack I could survive with the ember there), but it took me like 15 hours to beat him. The longest so far.
@@ThePhilosophersGames Like an idiot, I did SL1 on my second playthrough so I had a lot to learn on Friede. I have no idea what prisoners chain is so I did it without that as well. And yes, Friede felt fair, SoC was just a fucking slog and I stopped playing for months after that before doing NK and the DLCs. The hitboxes in his spear phase are enough to drive a guy to drinking.
Prisoner's Chain is a ring, you get for beating Champion Gundyr. It "Increases Vigor, Endurance, and Vitality by 5, but reduces Absorptions by 4%." So you get 5 levels of Vigor for free + ember you get quite a bit health, which increases your survivability significantly. The 4% less damage absorption is completely negligible. On top of that it gives you Endurance and Vitality. So basically 15 levels worth of stats 😅 Completely insane ring. But makes Level 1 quite a bit easier, so I did not use it until later and there you are again one hit anyway a lot of times 😅
nice, happy the guide was helpful, thank you ^^ Definitely. Patience can be helpful against a lot of bosses, but it's very important with this one here.
This is my favorite fight, similar to the dragon DLC fight in DS1, and the dragon DLC fight in DS2. I guess I like them the most because it's less about perfectly timing a nonsensical invincible roll in response to an enemy telegraphing a swing, but holding it way too long, and which will do a full 360 locked onto you in the air. These fights remind me of some good fights in DeS, more about learning the quirks and spacing and positioning.
Your guide is a must! U are doing your work very good, I wish u will continue to do this guides. I have tried Midir 6 or 7 times this evening but nothing.. I cannot do that. With this guide I’ll try tomorrow
I might be a little late but i really wanted to thank you, I struggled so much with him and couldn't beat him for 2 days but after I saw this guide and followed the strategy i beat him on my 3rd attempt. Thank you!
Here is my strategy: Strength/faith build, dragonslayer greataxe +5. Survive the first phase by staying in front of his head like you said, try to bait his claw/bite attacks or run away if he is spitting fire. Second phase try to get his laser attack, avoid it by sprinting left of the initial laser and then sprint to the right of his head after to avoid explosion damage During the cooldown, smack him twice with the special attack. This will stagger him. Do a critical attack (hornet ring!). Likely his health pool melted away by then, requiring only a couple of hits at most to burn his remaining health.
Really great in depth guide. Already beat him before watching but this is still really well explained. The going into detail showing each individual attack with cut footage alongside it and how to react is very useful on a fight like this. As others have said I'm not a huge fan of this boss fight just cause of the ridiculous HP pool. If he actually took more damage it would be cool but he just takes so damn long to kill it becomes an endurance test that doesn't feel enjoyable.
You, Sir, are the most awesome git gud master in the soulsverse! With your explanation of attacks and my mercury spell I finally managed to kill this boss on NG++ after countless furiating hours! Thank you mate, really! You have earned a new subscriber :D
Thanks a lot =) I write this a lot, but I'm really happy, that my guides are helping people. I hope you like Lord of the Rings, because I have not much Dark Souls content planned right now :P
thanks for the video......was able to finally beat him, also for some reason he didn't do his massive laser beam attack in his 2nd phase which helped me
Thank you very much for the video and the detailed explanation. Your guide is the best I could find. I watched your video as if I was studying for a test. I defeated Midir on my second try. Also, thank you for the Nameless King and the Demon Prince guides. I beat both of them on my first try. It was amazing!
Thank you SO much for this guide. I was struggling so much with Midir on NG+2 and I didn't want to respec for Pestilent Mercury. I followed your advice and was able to beat him. He actually lazered at the end, but I was actually able to get near him, got the crit in, used up all estus and 1 ember, and he finally went down! Such a wonderful guide for such an incredible Boss battle @ThePhilosophersGames. I hope I can do this for NG+7
Your guide is absolutely superb! I caved in and used Pestilent Mercury for NG+3, it's so much easier, but I used the same dodge strategy in your video, works beautifully! Thanks for your encouragement @ThePhilosophersGames
great guide i struggled about 1 hour trying to kill him with a bad weapon (sharp great corvian scythe - around 400ar but doing 192 damage per hit in the head), changed to sellsword and watched this video, down in the first try the tips about rolling through the fire and how to dodge both dark beam and flying flame was crucial
The hardest part is chasing him around the arena. I used the Dragon Crest Shield + Black Knight Greataxe, shielding most of the fire attacks really made a difference for me. You can also block the dash, although it consumes most of your stamina, but there's enough time afterwards for it to recharge.
This boss caused me to stop playing for a couple years, I finally came back to whoop its ass. Thank you so much, that final riposte is the best feeling ever btw :^)))
Thank you :) My channel is quite small (it was even far smaller when I made the guide), so I still consider it a huge success. One reason could be, that only few people actually play through a Souls game, fewer buy the DLCs and even fewer play to fight Midir and looking up a guide on the internet. Also e.g. the guys from Fextralife get a lot of traffic through embedding their guide directly into the wiki, so I don't have the same amount of exposure. Still surprised their video has almost 400k to be honest.
The game is quite popular even now with the current sale prices. Invaded a few people in the dlc today with no wait time XDD I saw the fextralife video, it didn't really make sense to me so i didn't even try it :P. The way you edit them along with the moveset and explaining each counter is really helpful. Just a thought for future guides..........you could post a link to the video in the comments sections of wiki i think, cause a lot of times the comments in the wikis are great for help...at least in my experience.
Yes, Dark Souls has grown in popularity ^^ Probably I underestimate this a bit, esp. when cheap sales are often available. That's not a bad idea. Thank you for the hint :)
You helped me so much. I got wrecked so much times that in despair I went on Yt searching how to dodge his attacks, after I saw your video it took 5 tries and I defeated him. Thank you !!!
I fell into this boss fight yesterday and he stomped me completly, because i play the game blind the first time and without armor :D Then i watched your guide and only seeing his attacks and knowing where to stand helped really! I second tried him and he was the last boss i needed to kill thank you!
I dunno how people can say this is easy, complex mechanics cause of the varied attacks hence a 13 minute video guide, but great work man thx for your help, I should really write it all down
I would say in theory, he should be easy, but in reality he is definitely not easy. He punishes little mistakes extremely hard and the fight takes for ever, so you have a lot of time for mistakes.
Holy fuck man, I've been struggling with him for couple days now. Watched your video and got him in two attempts, wasn't even that difficult. Love you.
I just beat him only because he started sandbagging in the second phase, I was out of estus when he was around ~35% hp and he did his super long laser move and just fell on the ground as if he was tired, gave me the time to do a ton of damage and then I even got a riposte on him for even more damage. From 35% hp to a oneshot just from that interaction. just a quick slap on the toe and he was dead at that point. Praise our lord and saviour Midir for going easy on me. Edit: The guide also really fucking helped a ton, so ty for that.
I've been trying to beat this boss for a very long time, and just can't beat him. This is probably the best video I've seen that is the most useful & helpful, Thanks. I don't know how successful I'll be, but I will try again. At this point, I'm getting frustrated and pessimistic.
Midir is very good at punishing mistakes and putting you into a loop of healing and receiving damage again. At the same time it takes a very long time to beat him, which makes this fight difficult. Finding out what attacks you have the most problems with avoiding and not getting greedy is key to beat him. I wish you good luck, you can do it. Maybe use 1-2 tries just for avoiding attacks without attacking, that always helps me a lot. PS: also thank you =)
Something to add on is a slightly easier way to avoid the beam attack in his first phase: when he begins the attack, position yourself a little to Midir's right and wait for him to shoot the beam straight out in front of him. Wait for the ground explosion after the beam and stand where the beam was. Move back a bit to make sure you don't get hit by the beam later in the attack. This makes the attack easier and much simpler to avoid but almost impossible to punish. Depends on how defensive or aggresive you wanna play.
@@ThePhilosophersGames Thank you! I watched this guide after beating Midir (so satisfying to learn him and his patterns) to see what I could improve on for my next battle with him, this guide is so thorough compared to others I've seen that just say "roll through his attacks" and that's it.
yes, if you learn a difficult boss it can become rally fun beating him. E.g. the Fume Knight in DaS2 can be like a dance. Thank you :) I try to make my guides (actually all my videos) quite in depth. Really surprised it got so many views. Sadly making a guide in this style takes quite some time, that's probably the reason why nobody on YT does it this way.
Thank you :) Yes I think I missed one or two attacks. Sometimes bosses do the attacks all the time, but when I hit the record button they forget it exists xD
Excellent guide. Nearly just the way I did it. I want to add that one can also dodge the sweeping fire breath attack at 6:56 by running to his right if dodging through it is not an option. That way you can still punish him afterwards.
The best weapon to use against Midir is Artorias' greatsword, transposed with the Abyss Watchers' soul, a heavy weapon that deals a lot of damage per hit, plus has bonus damage against abyssal creatures.
Damn man, your guide really helps me. I killed him after watching your vid. Your vid points out how to dodge all the attacks really well. gonna subscribe you bro.
Well done and congrats ^^ Midir can be quite annoying, but I think with the knowledge he suddenly becomes a lot easier. Happy my guide was useful for you.

glad it helped you ^^ Thank you as well 👍
Is mayonnaise an instrument? He is weak to mayonnaise
EXTREMELY helpful guide. I literally just defeated Midir on my second try after watching this guide
Happy it worked out so well for you :) Thank you too ^^
I didn't even know he had a grab. Always dodged it on time. Thx
No problem :) Yes, it's relatively easy to dodge ^^
Midir is the absolute least fun I have had in the entire game.
I can't describe how unsatisfying this choad is to fight.
He’s fun to me I just don’t like his AOE fire attacks when I’m under him
Idk why it's so hard to find guides like this just explain what the attacks are and how to dodge them. Thank you
No problem, hapyp you found it useful
Yes I thought this would be the most useful approach.
It has turned the most frustrating boss battle in the game into the most anticipated fight for each play-through.
haha happy to hear it was useful :) Thank you too ^^
Also nice Avatar. Kung Fu Hustle is a very fun movie.
"you don't need to be amazed by the particle effects for too long" - new favorite quote when explaining how to beat dark souls bosses
haha ^^ I have actually forgotten is aid that 😅 But happy you found that one funny.
Great to hear, happy it worked out for you so well. Thank you for commenting :)
Pestilent Mercury is great for this boss fight! It deals a good amount of damage over time and since Midir's hitbox is so big, it is very helpful.
Agreed, that works pretty on him too
This guy is never easy.
Agreed. Straight to the face is the best melee tactic in my opinion. I can see it becoming very frustrating for a summoned player =/
Shut up kid, you probably summoned for your first time
codafett Never summoned a player unless it's pvp. Sorry to disappoint. Hmhmhmhahaha.
No problem :) Also nice to hear, that it helped you. Thank you too ^^
rip dexterity build
I used DeX build with washingpole and I killed him relatively quickly
I used Sharp Murakamo with 60 dex. Also Prase the sun for sun bro help with the fight.
Try Gotthard twinswords.
Dex build with Warden blades and fucked him up
I've been going through so many guides and you provided what I needed. The missing aspect was staying in front of him and sure enough it worked. Well done sir.
Great guide, it took me only 3 tries after watching this, while dying to it somewhere around 20 before.
Happy it worked out so well for you. Thank you :)
Happy to hear the guide was helpful ^^ Thanks for commenting! All the best on your further palythrough (if there's something left to do)
Been 3 years, but this guide was perfect. Tried a couple times at launch and got completely destroyed. After watching this guide I killed him on the first try. I used all my estus, but fealt prepared, and wasn't suprised by anything.
Thanks.
Brilliant guide. I can get nowhere near Midir but this guide gives me confidence.
Thanks so much for the video explaining his attacks! :) I managed to beat him on NG+7 the other day!!
Finally beat Midir after getting him to his 2nd phase for the 2nd time. That laser attack is an actual godsend
When I first was watching you I was very greedy and thought you just got lucky. Then I finally listened to your advice, took it slow and crushed midir. Thank you
Thank you so much, I had never even been able to get to midirs second phase after hours of trying, but after watching through this video I got to it and beat him in one attempt, thanks bro.
wow well done and congratulations ^^ Happy my guide was helpful 😄
@@ThePhilosophersGames woah u responded after two years, genuinely have a good life bro and good luck for whatever you do in the future!
haha thank you, you too ^^ I try to read all (new standalone) comments and also answer as much as possible on my channel, though these days I do more Tolkien and Lord of the Rings related content instead of gaming stuff.
@@ThePhilosophersGames I’m honestly not sure what Tolkien is but either way I’m glad u are enjoying whatever you’re doing and you still seem to be interested in a similar genre of things (fantasy/medieval ish) just keep having fun with what you’re doing and keep at it friend! It means a lot that you are so dedicated to ur channel that you respond to super old videos like this!
Thank you ^^ Tolkien is the writer of Lord of the Rings, but there are more books than just Lord of the Rings, so just saying LotR would be not truly correct 😅
I've come such a long way. From looking up guides and videos how to beat the Cleric Beast, to not even looking any guide and beating Midir all on my own. Soulsborne games are really special :)
It truly is, agreed :)
"If you missed, you missed go back" Powerfull words right there
Fantastic guide.
Thank you! Yes that's a good idea, I'll add it to the description :)
I’m absolutely blown away. It seems like common sense especially with dark souls’ experience, patience. The way he worded that was perfect to what I needed to hear to apply my knowledge and skill from prior attempts. I’m about to go give this big boi a whoopin’ now!
I think it’s worth mentioning, I beat him within thirty minutes of watching. Thanks so much!
Congratulations and thank you ^^ Glad it was helpful for you. Recently also completed a Level 1 run of DaS3 + DLCs, so I know the pain ^^
@@ThePhilosophersGames Soul and Friede kicked the crap out of me lol
One thing to add if you don't move at the start none of his initial attacks will hit you
Yes that's a nice hint!
Hey I followed this guide and I beat him. Your tips are amazing. Great work and effort put in making this video man. Cheers!
Happy it help you, thank you for your kind word and commenting :)
Sweet dude, awesome guide! I beat it in one or two tries right after watching your guide! Patience is the key!
nice, happy the guide was helpful, thank you ^^ Definitely.
Yes learning the quirks is a good way of putting it. I have toa dmit the fight grew on me over time too.
This was the most useful Midir guide! Thank you for the great quality! ^_^
I'll come back to this video again for sure. Such a good guide
Thank you ^^ Happy you found it useful 😄
Glad I found your video. I'm still fighting midir at the moment but I feel a bit more confident now. Thank you Ashen one!
No problem, I hope my video helped and that you could or can beat him now. Good luck :)
Thank you!
Happy to hear that and I'm glad it helped you. Thanks for commenting =)
My biggest issue with midir is to avoid his dark souls things and his darkness beam from his 2nd phase, those things always destroy me
Thank you so much for putting in the work to make this video. I can't wait to try it tonight or tomorrow, whenever my schedule allows.
Yeah smoked him on my 4th try mate
nice congratulations, nice that the video helped you :) Also thank you too for commenting ^^
I used a Lightning Lothric Knight Sword +10, worked wonders. I was able to get in 5 hits on the head at one point.
Thanks, man. Your guide helped me learn attacks and defeat Midir finally ^^
nice to hear that my guide was helpful, congratulations and much fun on your further playthrough (if something is left) ^^
One of the best guides that I’ve ever seen
Thank you, glad it was helpful :)
Of course, Beat it in some tries after your tips
Here is my strategy:
Strength/faith build, dragonslayer greataxe +5.
Survive the first phase by staying in front of his head like you said, try to bait his claw/bite attacks or run away if he is spitting fire.
Second phase try to get his laser attack, avoid it by sprinting left of the initial laser and then sprint to the right of his head after to avoid explosion damage
During the cooldown, smack him twice with the special attack.
Did it, thank you, the melee attacks are super easy to dodge but his fire AOE is absolutely brutal
Sure! :D Shadow of Mordor/War will be the next games for me after I finally beat Gael :D
Wow, beat him on my 4th try thanks to this guide... and I suck at this game!
Amazing, thank you so much!
Happy to hear my guide helped you. Good luck on your further playthrough :)
Your guide is so great! Precise and informative, everything one needs to know and see (video repetitions are so helpful). Thank you! =)
Thank you, happy you liked it :)
thanks for the video......was able to finally beat him, also for some reason he didn't do his massive laser beam attack in his 2nd phase which helped me
No problem, happy it helped you, gj :) Yes when he doesn't use the super laser attack, it helps a lot ^^
Thank you very much for the video and the detailed explanation. Your guide is the best I could find. I watched your video as if I was studying for a test. I defeated Midir on my second try.
Also, thank you for the Nameless King and the Demon Prince guides. I beat both of them on my first try. It was amazing!
Thank you :) Nice to hear it helped you. I put a lot of work into those guides, so it's great to hear, they work :D
You really helped me out. With your guide i managed to kill him 3rd try :D with Farron greatsword of course hail to undead legion
good job and congratulations :) happy the guide was useful for you! haha yes that's a pretty cool weapon ^^
First try after watching this! Now that's what I call a good guide!
Thank you, and may flames guide thee!
Thank you ^^ Always nice to hear that my guide seems to work and helps people beating Midir.
May the Dark shine your way :D
Thank you SO much for this guide. I was struggling so much with Midir on NG+2 and I didn't want to respec for Pestilent Mercury. I followed your advice and was able to beat him. He actually lazered at the end, but I was actually able to get near him, got the crit in, used up all estus and 1 ember, and he finally went down!
Such a wonderful guide for such an incredible Boss battle @ThePhilosophersGames. I hope I can do this for NG+7
Nice to hear :) Thank you. Good luck and have fun on your journey to NG+7 ^^
It's always great to hear the stories of people beating him!
Your guide is absolutely superb! I caved in and used Pestilent Mercury for NG+3, it's so much easier, but I used the same dodge strategy in your video, works beautifully! Thanks for your encouragement @ThePhilosophersGames
great guide
i struggled about 1 hour trying to kill him with a bad weapon (sharp great corvian scythe - around 400ar but doing 192 damage per hit in the head), changed to sellsword and watched this video, down in the first try
the tips about rolling through the fire and how to dodge both dark beam and flying flame was crucial
congrats, happy to hear my guide was helpful ^^
The hardest part is chasing him around the arena. I used the Dragon Crest Shield + Black Knight Greataxe, shielding most of the fire attacks really made a difference for me. You can also block the dash, although it consumes most of your stamina, but there's enough time afterwards for it to recharge.
Nice guide, helped me learn a couple new punishes and took Midir down tonight :)
well done and thank you ^^
Thank you very much! With this strategy I was able to beat him quickly enough
Happy it was helpful :) Thank you too for commenting!
Good luck and much fun on your further playthrough (if there's something left to do ^^)
Thank you so much for this guide! I'm struggling a lot with this boss.
No problem, happy you found it helpful :) Good luck on your further journey through the world of Dark Souls ^^
This boss caused me to stop playing for a couple years, I finally came back to whoop its ass. Thank you so much, that final riposte is the best feeling ever btw :^)))
Well done ^^ Yes it really is a good feeling, esp. if you finally beat him after such a long time.
No problem, happy my guide was helpful!
This was a wonderful guide, appreciate helping us learn what to look out for!
Thank you, happy you got some use out of it ^^
This is the best boss guide ever. Thank you!
Thank you too, happy you found it helpful :)
I'm surprised this video doesn't have more views. Your advice is spot on..............patience is the name of the game
Invaded a few people in the dlc today with no wait time XDD
I saw the fextralife video, it didn't really make sense to me so i didn't even try it :P.
Beat him instantly after that, amazing guide, thank you!
Thank you ^^ Happy the guide worked out for you so well! Merry Christmas and a lot of fun on your further playthrough!
You helped me so much. I got wrecked so much times that in despair I went on Yt searching how to dodge his attacks, after I saw your video it took 5 tries and I defeated him. Thank you !!!
That's great to hear. Glad it helped you. Thank you for the nice comment :)
Great guide. Better than the rest of the useless guides on youtube. Wish I saw this before I beat him myself. This guys knows what's up
Thank you ^^
I fell into this boss fight yesterday and he stomped me completly, because i play the game blind the first time and without armor :D Then i watched your guide and only seeing his attacks and knowing where to stand helped really! I second tried him and he was the last boss i needed to kill thank you!
Holy crap, your guide is amazing. I could not have beaten this boss without it!
Thank you, glad it helped you :)
PS: sorry for the late answer, got buried a bit in my new comments list.
First try after watching this video and I did it!! Thank you!! One strong attack each time he's open was the best attack pattern for me!!
Thank you too, happy it helped you :)
After watching this video, got him on the 6th try, solo. Thanks!
Happy it worked out for your so well and thank you for commenting ^^
I finally got to play the dlc for ds3 and I beat Gael, but I forgot about Midir, so this was very helpful. Thank you very much.
Yes Midir is easy to miss, happy my guide helped (red it like you still needed to fight him xD)
@@ThePhilosophersGames I was in the middle of trying to beat him when I found your guide. I now have him beaten!
oh nice, congratulations ^^
Holy fuck man, I've been struggling with him for couple days now. Watched your video and got him in two attempts, wasn't even that difficult. Love you.
happy my guide was useful for you ^^
Yes once you understand the attacks, he becomes a lot easier ^^
I just beat him only because he started sandbagging in the second phase, I was out of estus when he was around ~35% hp and he did his super long laser move and just fell on the ground as if he was tired, gave me the time to do a ton of damage and then I even got a riposte on him for even more damage. From 35% hp to a oneshot just from that interaction. just a quick slap on the toe and he was dead at that point. Praise our lord and saviour Midir for going easy on me.
Edit: The guide also really fucking helped a ton, so ty for that.
Thank you so much! This guide is great and I just beat him thanks to it!
Yes, that's a good hint (also relatively easy to do), esp when you play more defensive. Thank you for sharing :)
Thank you ! This boss gives me conniptions.....
This is the best guide on the net.
thank you :)
one attack is missing, that one in the first phase when he flies throwing fire to his left, great tutorial
Thank you :) Yes I think I missed one or two attacks. Sometimes bosses do the attacks all the time, but when I hit the record button they forget it exists xD
rng at it's best xD
I've beaten Midir many times, but I still enjoyed watching somebody dissect the fight. Best dragon, no contest.
Niggaaa helppp lmaoooooo
Excellent guide. Nearly just the way I did it. I want to add that one can also dodge the sweeping fire breath attack at 6:56 by running to his right if dodging through it is not an option. That way you can still punish him afterwards.
Thank you :) Yes, that works too, if you are not too late, thanks for the addition!
I just want the frayed blade ahhhhhhh =(
The best weapon to use against Midir is Artorias' greatsword, transposed with the Abyss Watchers' soul, a heavy weapon that deals a lot of damage per hit, plus has bonus damage against abyssal creatures.
Damn man, your guide really helps me. I killed him after watching your vid. Your vid points out how to dodge all the attacks really well. gonna subscribe you bro.
Thank you too, happy my guide was helpful :)
You sir, you saved my time, after watching i just claped midir. This video trully is a hidden gem
Well done and congrats ^^ Midir can be quite annoying, but I think with the knowledge he suddenly becomes a lot easier. Happy my guide was useful for you.
I got the platinum trophy for DS3 a long time ago but i was kinda sad cause the only boss i skipped was Midir so i decided to do another run and try to kill him, at first i was getting my ass clapped but after watching this guide i legit beat him so easily, thank you so much
