Yes, this is their most recent release...but back in February they put out an album made up ENTIRELY of original songs, called The Lucky Ones. It is their MASTERPIECE. All of the songs on the album are brilliant. If my theory is correct, this 90s Dance Medley is a promo for a new covers album of all 90s dance songs that will feature full versions of all 17 of these songs. This release came out of nowhere with little or no advance notice.
It is insane how good they sound. It is also insane how good Kirstie sounds. She has always sounded good, always loved her voice, yet I feel like I'm hearing something new... maybe just the natural progression of maturing is making her voice even richer...
This is one of my top 5 favorite PTX songs. And love the auto tune homage to Cher. They don’t use auto tune usually, so it was fun. And yes - several of these need full covers.
Given the fact that the autotune in the original version of "Believe" was so emphasised (rather than blended in as you'd usually do) was a deliberate inclusion for effect, not replicating it would have sounded weird, so I'm really glad PTX included it (although in a much more light handed way) to recreate that "Cher effect".
The arrangement! The outfits! The vocals! The editing! The vibe! Pentatonix Perfection! They all sound particularly amazing after 12 months of no vocal strain from touring!
I agree. You should try Coffee in Bed and Love Me When I Don't. If you're okay with non-official videos, Bored is great (it samples a bit of BYOB from System of a Down), and Never Gonna Cry Again.
I think i have watched to 20+ reactions of this medley and it is so amazing to see the faces light up in big smiles... this is feel good music. this is well " dance" musik .. you cannot just sit still..

Don't worry they do mashups to see which songs they want to do full versions of. They have done full versions of many songs they first did snippets of in medleys.
I love that. So many people (including myself) know the songs, but that part of our memory is fuzzy and grayscale. It took me several viewings of this song to remember “Gonna Make You Sweat” is the name of “Everybody dance now!” With that in mind, I may have woken up my family by laughing when your timing was perfect. Kirsten: Do you think you’re better off alone? Suffi: I can’t remember the name of this one... I don’t blame you, but her last three words as you said that were the answer you were searching for.
If you want to hear Mitch hit those high notes you need to listen to: aha! Singapore Star Vista( make sure it is that live version). You will also get to hear Avi go so low that he broke at least one speaker. I will also tell you that you won’t see Kevin on stage, but people have said he is there, just off stage. I really think this is the best example of the “ highs and lows” of PTX so to speak, but all in one song. Glad you’re back because I haven’t seen you for awhile unless it’s been me that’s been gone.😊

Pentatonix went absolutely crazy on this medley. It's just soo freaking good. Like you said, there were a few I didn't know, but they all sounded amazing.
The reaction to Vengaboys is so spot on. Love it and hate it. That song lived rent free in my head for so long. And can we all just admit we need a time machine already? I so miss my 20’s, the 90’s-00’s club scene was unreal. Why did we let that die? Are we all really that old?

Hope you're circling back to Pentatonix again for good. Love your reviews of their songs. But you should also check out Superfruit (Mitch and Scott's channel). My two favorites of theirs are Defying Gravity and the Frozen Medley (with Kirstie). You get to see another side to their personalities.
The first one you didn't know was 'Feels So Good' by Sonique. A proper banger that charted really high here in the UK - worth a listen! The second one was 'Show Me Love,' by Robin S. And the third one was 'Waiting For Tonight' by J-Lo. I was starting to worry for a bit when you didn't recognise Cher though... glad you brought it back in the end! 😁
I'm also someone who'd love a full version of Believe by Cher. Fun fact is that it was originally going to be their 4th performance on The Sing Off (guilty pleasures), but they couldn't work out an arrangement they were happy with so swapped to "Video Killed the Radio Star". Clearly they've got some good ideas now and a full version would be amazing.
