I don't really know why, but I absolutely love the looks and sound of this bass! I always sit when I play, and I find the shape just a bit more comfortable to play. The smile on your face says it all.
I bought one in blue. I absolutely love it. Like Bully said there's no tone control in passive mode so if that's a deal breaker it's not for you. I bought it because it's active and would only go to passive if the batteries took a dump.
Love the silverburst, (Go Raiders!) Sounds real good. Wish passive bypass allowed full tonal range. Batteries do tend to peter out when your groove is on! Does look like a very intriguing design. Will be looking into this bass.
Nice video. Yeah, that no tone control in passive is a deal breaker for me. They seem to do that on their Player Plus basses. Other brands, with active/passive capabilities in this price range give you a passive tone control. For me, that is just a middle finger from Fender. I think your video on a Sadowsky bass was excellent. Especially when you said something like this, "Why is this bass four thousand dollars?" Hit the nail on the head with that one. Be well.
Probably gonna be my first Fender. I love Jaguars but this is even a step above. I just wish the silver burst came with a rosewood / pau ferro fretboard
Thanks Bully - your review helped me decide to purchase one in the Opal Spark (blue). My only complaint is that Fender does not offer a hardshell case for this model. Really unacceptable if you ask me.
Far out! I’m definitely considering a Meteora in Tequila Sunrise. In one of the reviews I read, the author said that if the Jetsons had a band, they would play the Meteora. I love that! 😂 Thanks for the video.
Sweet! I just ordered the tequila sunrise player plus jazz bass v and I can't wait to dig in! Oh, dat slap tone 😱🔥🔥🔥 looks like I may be adding another one to the family 😂
Bad timing for this video as I am trying to choose which bass I am going to cull to reduce my collection... And now I want this one. GAH! I made a few nasty faces at that slap tone, good lord.
Matching headstocks are a nice detail, I personally don't like plain varnish headstock unless the fretboard matches it like it is with maple or roasted maple fretboards, so in this model it looks nice and uniform with the neck and fretboard.
Great video and review. I played the same bass 2 weeks ago at Guitar Center. I thought it felt great and sounded amazing I liked that it was active. Those pickups were an interesting configuration. For the money it is a really nice bass they also make some other interesting colors too. Thanks again.
Bully, thank you very much for your continued quality content. I'm always looking forward to hearing how basses sound in your hands. Wonderful as always.
Great review and demo. Thanks! They really hit a sweet spot with this one. A jazz neck, some meatier pups, a unique style that manages to stand out without looking silly, and it's comfortable to play. Not a fan of Pao Ferro, and I'd love to see a roasted maple neck on these.
From what I've seen and heard, i like this one. Glad they kept the traditional headstock, the body style just different enough to be cool, and the tequila sunrise paint job is so dang pretty, I'm risking not being cool with the guys lol. But thanks man!
Awesome review! I have been waiting for one to come in at our local music stores so I can check one out. It's been difficult to find much of anything these days up in northern Alberta, Canada. Hopefully soon I'll get my hands on one.
I really like this bass!! I have one of them pickups in my custom bass at the bridge but it’s a custom Lindy, I’m glad they used their iconic headstock. I love fender headstock’s. Would have been cool if they had a 5 way switch
I like this guitar, but I prefer a Bass guitar that is always connected to my amp without unplugging. Question: Does it drain the battery when I leave the cable plugged in and switch the toggle to Passive? Please provide clarity on this. Thank you.
Thanks for the great review! What amp/effects are you playing thru? Also not sure if you've played standing with a strap yet but dying to know if this has any "neck dive?"
I don't really need that, but I want one! I could take the player, too (really nice touch!), but my wife would probably not like that coz she is my bass player. My bet is that Meteora will be a classic one day.
Would consider this if the bridge pickup wasn’t so far back. For some reasons a J pickup being super close to the bridge is just hell for me to play over
I played one a couple of days ago, love the look and colors. Neck feels great. Like you said, easy to get lost in. However, I found the tone to be pretty bland. I put this down and picked up a RAY34 and within 10 seconds the stingray immediately sounded better to me. I'm a stingray guy, but I expected just a little more out of the meteroa.
For me... I'd back off the treble (less twang) and get the pau ferro fingerboard and nickel strings. You didn't play it with the preamp bypassed. Thanks for the demonstration. No disrespect intended.
Subscribe your channel. Very nice explanation. I am just started fingering play 3 months ago and want to learn how funky bass made up from. This is hello from Japan
I don’t know what it is (wood density I guess…) but the maple neck absolutely pops on this bad boy. Went with the exact same one and am in love with the versatility of tone, and I feel like the pau Ferro fretboard misses some of that depth and high end.
Same colours as the L.A. Raiders. I see why you like it. Too bad this doesn't have a split-coil, passive tone or a chunkier neck. I was so ready for it, guess I'll have to wait until Sire makes a proper Stingray copy to get a H or HH bass. Thanks for the demo.
I don't really know why, but I absolutely love the looks and sound of this bass! I always sit when I play, and I find the shape just a bit more comfortable to play. The smile on your face says it all.
Bully's face at 7:24 made me a subscriber. The joy you get from playing is infectious.
Good bass face. Nothing gives more joy than watching a happy bassist.
Mine came on Friday. I played it at church this morning. Sounded Great!
I was on the fence about getting one of these (the Tequila Sunrise paint), but watching this video sold me on it! Fender owes you some money, Bully!
Purchased one today. Your enthusiasm is contagious. Will attempt to play mine as confidently as you did. Thanks.
I've had one for two months. Very enjoyable. Love the neck profile. It definitely hints at Jazz characteristics. Thank you for your review.
You gave us plenty of different sounds to hear. The blended sound towards the end was dope. Very well done. 👍🏻
I bought one in blue. I absolutely love it. Like Bully said there's no tone control in passive mode so if that's a deal breaker it's not for you. I bought it because it's active and would only go to passive if the batteries took a dump.
Keep it coming, I have one on a few wish lists.
SOLD!...great endless tones Bully,my favorite was the slapping neck pick up.
The first active I’ve ever purchased and love it!
Eager for your thoughts and review.
That bass is so appealing and sounding awesome!!! And I feel like flatwound strings would be a perfect addition to the Meteora!
Love the silverburst, (Go Raiders!) Sounds real good. Wish passive bypass allowed full tonal range. Batteries do tend to peter out when your groove is on! Does look like a very intriguing design. Will be looking into this bass.
I've tried this bass, slap tone is also good in passive mode
This bass sounds amazing! Thank you for posting a follow up to the unboxing!
found the Meteora vid. i love that shape. i love the pickguard. everything. like that tone too.
Thanks Bully, Fender has a hit, they're going to sell a lot of these. I'll have one soon, love that color.

I gotta get one of these, absolutely gorgeous , love the slap tones too ❤

Yes, that paint job is really cool! Like a flame.
Sweet! I just ordered the tequila sunrise player plus jazz bass v and I can't wait to dig in! Oh, dat slap tone 😱🔥🔥🔥 looks like I may be adding another one to the family 😂

If you wanna send one my way (any one), I'll gladly take em off your hands

Thank you, I finally know what each knob is
Great thorough review
Thanks for the review.. Great Demo.. much appreciated
i just ordered a tequila sunrise you can see that you like playing it cant wait
I'm really tempted for one of these, just can't decide between the black burst or the 3 tone :)
Bully, thank you very much for your continued quality content. I'm always looking forward to hearing how basses sound in your hands. Wonderful as always.

Brother.. u look like ur having a good time.. bass sounds awesome.. I'd get the tequila sunrise.. truck on mon
From what I've seen and heard, i like this one. Glad they kept the traditional headstock, the body style just different enough to be cool, and the tequila sunrise paint job is so dang pretty, I'm risking not being cool with the guys lol. But thanks man!
Nice demo, man!
Excellent review, Cheers!

It sounds awesome!
Love the shape
oooohhh loved it man thanks for the video!
Sounds like a slightly brighter Sting Ray HH... Sounds good either way. Reminds me of the Dimension Bass they had out around 08 or so too.
Thx for the review. Like your vids!
I really like this bass!! I have one of them pickups in my custom bass at the bridge but it’s a custom Lindy, I’m glad they used their iconic headstock. I love fender headstock’s. Would have been cool if they had a 5 way switch
Let us goooo good sirs
This is definitely the next bass I’m buying… I just need to lay low now for a bit…
great bass, but a big oversight IMHO is that there is no tone control in passive mode. i modded mine to have a selector switch and a tone knob.
Somebody is in love! No point trying to hide that grin, man. She already knows it just from the way you touch her!
That lack of tone control in passive mode is a big drawback on this bass. Can't believe it was released without some basic flexibility in passive
I just ordered one from MF in Opal spark, cant wait!!
I like this guitar, but I prefer a Bass guitar that is always connected to my amp without unplugging.
Question: Does it drain the battery when I leave the cable plugged in and switch the toggle to Passive? Please provide clarity on this. Thank you.
Would you get this over a straight player II Active bass. Or Sadowsky jazz
i think that back pickup is where the funk is.
Thanks for the great review! What amp/effects are you playing thru? Also not sure if you've played standing with a strap yet but dying to know if this has any "neck dive?"
I just want the pickups and I can’t find them 😩😩
I don't really need that, but I want one! I could take the player, too (really nice touch!), but my wife would probably not like that coz she is my bass player. My bet is that Meteora will be a classic one day.

Really enjoyed your evaluation of this Bass. Being a Raider's fan where are you from? I'm from The City (San Francisco).
But how does it sound with a pick? But I absolutely love it in all facets even the color, despite being a Chiefs fan!
NICE!
For me... I'd back off the treble (less twang) and get the pau ferro fingerboard and nickel strings. You didn't play it with the preamp bypassed. Thanks for the demonstration. No disrespect intended.
It has a cool sound
This thing is nice and all, but why does Fender hate making Jaguars?
I think I'll eventually have to get one of these. I just have to finish paying off my p bass first 🤣☠️
Subscribe your channel. Very nice explanation. I am just started fingering play 3 months ago and want to learn how funky bass made up from. This is hello from Japan
It looks like Leo Fender mixed all the basses he ever made
I don’t know what it is (wood density I guess…) but the maple neck absolutely pops on this bad boy. Went with the exact same one and am in love with the versatility of tone, and I feel like the pau Ferro fretboard misses some of that depth and high end.
GO RAIDERS BABY!!!!
I won't be getting that bass w/no backup tone control.
I'm an Eagles fan. No way I want a forest green bass
Lol... I get it
RAIDER NATION
I love the way it looks and sounds, but it is wayyy out of budget for me.
No lefties, so I can't try one. Another Fender mistake.
I love the shape! But it doesn't come in Pink. Not your style... :)
Oooohhhh I wish.... I would definitely get that one
Sounds like a hundred bucks on Amazon.
I'm sorry fender I love you so much🥰😍😘. But please focus more on music creation and less on mass instrument sales.
??? You know I'm not fender right???
Ugly Ugly Ugly. Bass.
