I turned down a babysitter when I visit her place and saw 2 large pitbulls in her daycare. She assured me her bf's pits were gentle and never attacked. Sorry I don't risk my kids' life.

Parents, wth were you thinking, leaving a 1yr old w/someone w/3 big dogs? The dogs were unfamiliar w/the child.
They dogs weren't supposed to be inside but they got in somehow. Most dogs would never harm a child and these dogs were accustomed to little ones. I have a feeling these dogs were more on the pit side. They are great at seeming uninterested in your baby until one day, that baby sneezed or fell down. Or breathed.

So nothing new or different going on. Just decided to maul my son. Needing stitches on his head and ears. We rehomed our dog that day. Shocked. I don't trust any big dog.

She was unable to control them. That innocent baby attacked by 3 dogs! The innocent, one year old, that couldn’t fight, that shouldn’t have gone through any of that horrendous attack, they went after. I think Americans have a culture that promotes taking good care of their dogs. I like that. However, I don't think they care much about people's safety when it comes to their dogs though. They're going to get angry. Of course not all.
A dog is an animal, a living thing. Anyone who thinks that you can 100% control the actions of an animal is nuts. That poor child having to go through something like that is so unfair. I really don't like when people have their dogs around kids. Nothing is perfectly safe.
I've seen multiple videos on youtube showing huge dogs around people's infant children...so proud that their dogs are "protecting" their child...that's a parent's job to protect their child..... and part of protecting your child is not allowing a potential attack by a dog unfamiliar with your brand new baby...a dog could even accidentally claw a babies eyes out without even meaning to.

Plenty of licensed daycares have had unsafe incidents too. My unlicensed daycare that I ran for 20 years never had an issue, never got reported for anything.

Three dogs are a pack, a human owner and two dogs are a pack. Both dangerous scenarios if around other people. I speak from experience. There is no way in hell I would be having children anywhere near dogs. Dogs in packs are no joke.

Sad thing is if these dogs were Pit Bulls, that fact would’ve been all over the story. German Shepards are one of the top breeds responsible for human death. If they aren’t trained properly and don’t have a clear understand of who their leader is, they can be very dangerous. Same goes for all dogs honestly.
If this woman really understood canine behavior, she never would have had a daycare at her house with those dogs. Who knows what really happened, but most children don’t understand how to interact with a dog and end up tugging them, playing too rough, and trying to ride them. Children should never be left alone around dogs, no matter how friendly they are!

I would not leave my small children with someone who had three large dogs. Not saying she did it on purpose but she obviously had no control of those dogs. If those dogs were not secure in a kennel with small children she is guilty of negligence. This is why if you choose home daycare it should be a licensed day care by the state. My neighbor had a licensed daycare and she had two very friendly pit bulls. In order to keep her license those pit bulls were in a kennel or out side when the children were there. All she did was look at those dogs and they fell in line. That woman should have never had those dogs. Plus those dogs were well trained.
Why was 3 dogs even around other people's children
This doesn't just happen I bet there were signs of aggression before all of this. Also how bad was it that they made their way in and attacked the baby before the owner could do anything? Zero training. It's scary that there are people like this. Bonus points for running a daycare.

@@530MAIDU no, she was our friend and her dog was a family dog that stayed outside. I told her to please not let my baby around this dog but on that day she decided to anyway. She had her dog out to sleep after the attack for fear it may happen to her own children

Whatever type of dogs they are, 80# each is way to big to be near young children. Even if they are a “gentle” type of dog and playful. Their gentle play can be hurtful at that size.
@@nukemmanI mean, GSDs have a high chase instinct. Mine likes to catch and release small things (the neighbor’s cat actually comes over to play tag with him lol). But some grab on and shake small animals when they catch them. I think this is the answer since they went after the small toddler and left the other kids unharmed. The toddler must have moved in such a way that triggered that instinct. It’s why I keep my dog away from tiny humans. He likely won’t bite them but he definitely WILL squash.
the dogs found a way back inside after being outside. I'm thinking she has her dogs outside. during baby sitting hours but this time it just was a tragic accident this sucks I feel for both parties especially the mom. This babysitter will have this guilt on her heart for the rest of her life. I will never tear anyone down these comments are gross.

I was almost attacked by a dog today…a husky jumped at me and was only 6 inches away from my arm…luckily the owner pulled the dog back but what if he had gotten away? I am pregnant…bad dog owners are the worst kinds of people…these dogs are a danger to the community and sometimes kill their owners…May that baby rest in peace and these people serve jail time…they are horrible people.
Never in my life would I let anyone with giant dogs nor any male presence nor sons babysit my child. Children are best with their parents that actually wanted to bring them into this world or an educational daycare not just some random stranger with no education nor aba skills. I would never babysit anyone's kids huge responsibility and you should have a degree in aba to babysit children. And the state should safety proof your house how they do with foster parents.
Again our laws let down the living children and babies. Had there been better regulations this child would still be alive.
This is horrendous. I’m so sorry for the loss of a precious child. Please keep your kids safe. It’s a parents job not to leave them in a dangerous situation. Don’t be fooled by the “my dogs are friendly” claim. These stories are not new. It happens a lot. People with dogs need to prevent this. You’ve got a dog with teeth and a mind of their own.

@@paulstewart6203I have been wanting to see pics of the dogs as well. Even if Shepherds are not widely known for attacks does not mean they don't attack. I know of two people who were both attacked by German Shepherds as children and I have been bitten by a shepherd mix. You may not hear of breeds other than pit bulls attacking but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

My gun is on a leash called a holster..
I have dogs. One’s a German shepherd. But I wouldn’t leave a baby or toddler with anyone with dogs even if they confine them outside. I feel this is partly on the parents. There is no way they didn’t know there were dogs there. And when someone watches older kids there’s always the possibility one of them will let the dogs in/out.
I tell people to not bring their young toddlers near my GSD because the way they move triggers his chase instinct. He doesn’t attack with teeth or claws but he pounces and could definitely hurt a kid. He likes to catch things and let them go. But a toddler is less resilient than the neighbor’s cat, which seems to like it lol.
When we have visits I put him in my room. If there are children I watch the hallway to my room like a hawk. I’ve had to tackle kids trying to let “the doggie” out. And sometimes the parents are like, “what’s the problem? They know him and he’s gentle.” They don’t understand that it’s different he’s off leash and when they’re in HIS home, near HIS stuff, running around.

I use to babysit 4 kids a couple summers ago. At that time I had 2 Rottweilers. I NEVER let my dogs out with the kids. I trusted my dogs with my children but not with strangers. My dogs are good dogs but anything can happen, I would never trust them with strange kids.
OMG she was babysitting! 💔😭 Who accidentally let the dogs inside? So I'm assuming these dogs couldn't be around kids. If this is true she shouldn't have been babysitting anyone's kids! Doesn't need to be a BIG dog to bite, I was bitten by two different Dashunds when I was a child, both times I was visiting the homes and the dogs had never seen me before, they didn't care about my mom who was with me on both separate occasions, they started following me around the appartment and no one supervised me because they were "extreamingly kind and sweet dogs"...the first dog bit me very hard,in my foot, I got a big mark from his teeth and a huge bluemark. The second dog-attack was not that bad but his toothmarks were on my leg for a week.
