Driving over Volcanoes in Saudi Arabia // Overland Series Ep.28

- We explore the region of Medina, Saudi Arabia including some of the many dormant volcanoes. What we didn't expect is that we would be able to drive up to the top.
We leave Taif and head towards Mecca. As non-muslims we are not allowed inside the holy city at all, so we go around and visit Jeddah instead. We are fascinated by the traditional buildings in Al Balad and see all the development that is taking place here to prepare for Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia.
But what we can visit as non-muslim is the city of Medina. We even can get close to the mosque and see the many pilgrims visiting and praying.
But after two days in cities, we were craving nature. We saw in the satellite maps the number of volcanoes in Saudi Arabia and decided we would like to get close to them. We drove over very sharp volcanic rocks in three colors, sand, and wadis. It is one of the most beautiful offroad tracks we have driven so far.
But the best part is being able to camp on top of a white volcano a be alone to explore the next morning. But even then were surprised about what we found inside.
Enjoy the ride!

18:20 to 18:43 Amazing Amazing
It was so beautiful and Kai was flying the drone like a pro to capture it. It end up being one of the best shots from the whole trip. So happy that you appreciate it!! See you around. More great shots coming 🔥

Oh Gustavo, welcome back! We missed you!
Absolutely beautiful
Thank you! 😊
wooooooooooooooooooooooooooow last clip is amazing
It was an incredible scenery 😍
What a spectacular area would love to over land there some day , another place to add to my to do list of over landing areas . After watching one of your videos . That drone shot of the crater was awesome . Thanks again for sharing your wonderful travel memories with us . Cheers from Steve Stott in Sutherlin Oregon U.S.A. :) :) 👍🏼
It is stunning! We would like to come back one day and spend more time. The area is so beautiful! the track to get to the craters is one of the most epic off-road tracks we have driven. Absolutely recommended. But be prepared to destroy your tyres, the rocks are extremely sharp. Thank you again Steve for your comment and hope one day you come by this area! 🤩
Thank you showing us the Amazing Saudia Arabia
Wow, what a beautiful but surreal landscape! The drone shots are incredible!
It was mind blowing! Thank you for watching 😊
The moon like landscape ,looks like a puncture nightmare. Superb video.
Thank you so much Dave, yeah it was surreal to be there. And suuuper sharp. We lost tyre chunks on the way 😱
I have watched almost all your videos. Am interested with the BlueLandy. Hope you leave it for me in Kenya. God bless you for wonderful exploration. It's amazing
Hey, thank you so much! Which episode did you like the most?
Regarding the bluelandy, I’ve to disappoint you we will stay together so long as we both shall live. 😂
Vídeo de una belleza excepcional y emocionante. Wuaaw!
Es impresionante! Tanto que nos dan ganas de volver para pasar más tiempo por la zona. Muchas gracias por el comentario! ☺️
the road to the volcano looks like you are in another amazing planet. The camels on the road at 18:18 are also fabulous.
I thought it was an animation 18:19
Camels in volcano it’s like small spaceships ❤
Thanks 🙏
Thank you for your comment! It was really incredible to experience it. One of the best landscapes we have seen in our trip. The camels just was the cherry on top 🤩
The drone footage is superb. That was a great serendipitous decision. That’s the epitome of adventure travel. I reckon though, that the Defender would have driven the the crater rim. Perhaps you would have, had you been with another vehicle. Thanks for this episode. Keep it up! 👍🏻🙏🦘
Thank you so much Grahame! It was one of the best decisions of our trip. We were amazed by what we were seeing every 5 minutes. So gorgeous! With our 3ton Land Rover it was not possible to get up the vertical wall next to our campspot. Even trying was extremely dangerous: Very steep, loose gravel, deep holes and cliffs to both sides. But! later we realized that if you come from the other side, there is a better path that we could have done. Check the last shot of the crater, you can see the other access. Next time!
Nice vert Nice thanks
Thank you! ☺️
What a camp spot, and a caldera you can do a full lap of. Stunning.
It's incredible!!! We found later with the drone that there was a not so steep entrance to the top (you can see it in the footage). This while area is breathtaking 😱
AMAZING 😍🤩
😍🤗🤗
Magnifique !
Merci
Merci beaucoup! ☺️🙌
I like your well-preparedness and welcome to Saudi Arabia🇸🇦
Saudi Arabia has a biodiversity that even its citizens not knowing most of it yet (reply to what you mentioned in minute 13)
Thank you for your lovely tour and wish to see more from you at Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦
Saudi Arabia blew our mind! It was extraordinary! I hope the people keep it as raw as possible and it doesn't turn into a tourist entertainment place like the UAE. We loved the open spaces and the diversity we found there and would not doubt coming back again in the future. It also helps that we felt always very welcomed and respected in the country 🤗
@@Thebluelandy I hope @saudiMT officials will listen to such amazing suggestions here🌹

It is an amazing volcano! The camels were paid actors 😜😆 we enjoyed sooo much, one of those wow places!
Amazing what you came across, the crater was spectacular. We love Death Valley but it has nothing on that area. Thank you.
Yeah we can only recommend to visit this area it’s one of it’s kind
Beautiful video, thank you for sharing the experience! :) PS: The bright spots in the dark recodings are "dead pixels" - meaning your camera sensor has an issue. Just so you know. Best regards from Germany.
Thank you!! Yeah our canon G7x is on its last legs... But we cannot afford a new one at the moment 😩
@@Thebluelandy ahh okay, no worries. Better content with pixel errors than no content! :D
Did you have to where a head/face covering whilst in Saudi?
Hello, legally hijab is not mandatory in Saudi, nighter for locals then for foreigner’s. But for Locals it is expected.
It is not even obligatory for the local residents but Muslims put it because it is a custom of Islam
