The Standards and Trade Development Facility (STDF) - The importance of food safety to facilitate safe trade.
..why investing in food safety, animal and plant health capacity is crucial to poverty reduction, food security and sustainable economic growth.
To discuss this issue, we have invited Simon Padilla and Pablo Jenkins from the STDF Secretariat in Geneva and the GIZ-colleague Kathrin Cordes, who will explain the objectives of Germany within STDF.
The path to global and regional markets in food and agriculture products is not easy for producers in developing countries. For small-scale farmers, traders and governments it is crucial being able to meet international food safety, animal and plant health standards. This creates opportunities to add value across supply chains and promote a more inclusive growth, in turn generating employment, increasing incomes and securing people’s livelihoods.
STDF is providing project funding to reach these objectives and also supporting people to comply with simple food safety regulations.
