She is brilliant! I’m so glad I found this interview. I watch Mormon stories all the time and I respect John very much. I have never been a Mormon but I have always wanted to know more about them. I think Margi presented her side so beautifully. It was a pleasure to listen to.

Thank you Margi! I’ve never had the words for the feelings I’ve had that made the Church such a problem in my life!!! The immature love, the poor boundaries, the FEAR!! I needed to hear this so bad! ❤️

I Love Mormon Stories. John Dehlin is kind of like Father Mormon Stories (father God) and Margi is the Mother MS (mother God) but who is totally invisible and we are not allowed to pray to! Haha. Glad to meet you mother Mormon Stories! Thanks for all your invisible contributions to MS! It's amazing :)

I can relate. I'm not from Mormonism, but I grew up in a christian church. I left during high school, but recently have struggled with spirituality and identity due to recent circumstances. I feel "fear" for wanting to be myself, have my identity, and that fear is what keeps me from living that way. It's like I am in limbo until I can fully come out to/as myself. Although I doubt the religion so much so because it really sounds so illogical, I still struggle because of the fear that I am in the wrong. Up until recently, after high school, I was okay with living life as my identity and without a second thought.

Very interesting, honest interview. At 59:01 - 'conditional love - follow this, this, this, - earn your love, prove your worth' - she
really knows how to explain negative issues this or any religious institutions. ' Most people want trust, not control, and fear
based church. "Levels of Heaven"....heard it too in catholicism....ridiculous.

Mags c I agree. I’ve been a practicing Catholic and a Mormon. Plus I grew up with conditional love. Probably why so many Mormon women are on anti depressants. I am around many during the day and they all have a script for meds. Sad. Glad I left them all.

I totally agree with Margi about the temple. I dont undestand why secrets are called SACRED! There is nothing sacred about some of the oathes you have to take. You are standing there in front of all the people there! You cant walk out. You cant disagree with all the people staring at you. I didnt like the washings & anointings. I was always taught to be modest & here i am being touched in places that arent even supposed to be seen by others. So confusing. Lots of confusion. My dad murdered 2 people & he was a temple worker. I strive for truth & this seems like a cover up. Like, act one way to find acceptance but be someone else behind closed doors.

I think the way faithful Mormons may feel toward the church, when they discover the truth about history and doctrine, may be the way a spouse feels when after years of a happy marriage they discover the spouse has been lying since the beginning. By then they love the spouse and have built a life on trust. But they have to leave a deceitful, unfaithful spouse. It's wrenching.

Hahahah, "Seams in not seamable places.." That made laugh so hard. Garment bottoms truly were horrible. And garments made nursing a baby a pain in the neck.
And the secret handshake was a surprise to me too. I hated endowment sessions and only went about 4 times. Sealing were ok and babtisms were ok but initiator work and endowments were weird.

Sci Pro you are sharing your prejudice and your churches opinions , not even daring to listen to what Margi is sharing,..
I guess you are scared to hear something that might make you think something outside what you are taught to feel think and conclude and through listening to her , be "lured" to hear your own thoughts and feel your own feelings and make your true own conclusions, which means owning your own self.. not being owned by the church and its Programs.. But you are here , don't you wonder why?

Nobody should think it's the work of Satan but doing your homework you'll see that it's based on a couple perverts that convinced a lot of people that the b.s he was preaching was real when none of it pans out if you do your homework you'll see that .

Mormon Transitions; Margi Dehlin's apostatizing is another sad story! Here is a women who in the temple, felt a loving family connection. That, wouldn't of happened, had it been a work of Satan! But more important, Margi surely did as requested of every member who desires to join the church, and that is; to pray about the Book of Mormon, if it's another record of God's dealings with another people of a different continent and race. As God probably answered her and her husband, that yes, this is another record of God dealing with another people, for all people are to hear God's gospel on every land and time.
As God answered Margi, that the Book of Mormon was indeed true, and thus so is the Church of Jesus Christ true, and thus the Prophets in it are also authorized servants of God, as laid out in Amos 3:7. The Margi knew from God, that the Book of Mormon is true, because he told her through his spirit. She is now recanting that answer from God, and thus is calling him, the judge of all, a liar! And His church a lie. Thus, she is in a bad way!
She was commanded to hold fast to that which is good! And knowledge from God, is the best knowledge that one can get, and that, .. is good. She now recants that and denies that and listen to those who destroy, and not build up good things and the good of people.
She has listen to a wicked man and thus has lost her inheritances of the riches of the eternities, that would have been hers, had she been obedient to all of God's words and commandments.
It's a bad and sad day for Margi Dehlin's.

Cool story but I feel as though you really didn't listen to any of this video. Because the assumptions you made about her testimony weren't as she'd stated. It might have helped if you came here without your lecture already prepared. You might have been able to see her as a truly lovely individual with the struggles and successes we all have.
Common ground is easy to find if you aren't looking so hard to find the differences.

    • @scipro6340
      @scipro6340 7 лет назад

Lady at Large; Yes, I suppose you could look at it that way. And, yes, ... all of us struggle, even with life itself.
But the reason's I post and get into other people's faces, is not for my own aggrandizement, as you may suppose. I have no agendas other than stand for truth and for God, and for the prophet Joseph Smith, a prophet of the restoration in our times. I stand for truth, and sometimes I declare it like a trump.
A bit aggressive perhaps, but we are all looking at the eternities for the rest of our lives, and so, stirring one up to actually evaluate their lives and consider why they are here upon the earth at this time, and where they actually want to go throughout their eternities, seems the appropriate thing to do. As many seem asleep or sleep walking through their short probation time upon the earth.
Just think of people like Margi Dehlin, who having completed her probation here, now comes up for judgement and finds that she didn't do those things that are required to enter back into our Heavenly Father's presence again, and what a shock THAT would be. It's rather a bit late to make amends then, don't you think??
And THAT story would even be sadder, if that's possible to hear and bear.
The whole reason the Jesus Christ again formed his church anciently as recorded in Ephesians 2:19-20 and in Ephesians 4:11-12, is to provide a way to learn just why you are here, and just where you can work to go, and gain salvation and exaltation with your families and loved ones sealed to you. For that authority is there to help and do with all those goals.
That same church organization and authorities claimed, reside in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints which is upon the earth today. Again Prophets and Apostles resting on the corner stone of Jesus Christ, is once more proclaiming the Lord's gospel. And this time, it is to go far and wide, until the whole earth has had a chance to choose, who they will serve, ... Satan, or God.
Thus, Margi had a chance to read the Book of Mormon, the 'keystone' of that church of Jesus Christ, and as she and all, are invited to read and pray about that book, and see for themselves if the Church of Jesus Christ is indeed the true church of God again upon the earth.
Now, Margi must have done this, as she joined the church. Which means, .. that she received an answer personally from the Lord himself. And a no better truth or testimony of the truth can be had anywhere.
She has now recanted that answer from our Holy Father. She in effect, has called God a liar and the church of his a lie. By doing that, she has put herself in a very bad way. In fact, I'm not sure that things could get any worse for her. Maybe, perhaps if she was a murderer, and shed innocent blood.
Most, if not all 'apostates' don't actually realize just what they have done. And it's a super bad case for them. However, the door to repentance always stands open, that is, until life ends. Then repentance is said to become a much harder thing to do in the spirit world. Well, that's what I heard, never having been there myself to see. Ten times harder to obtain forgiveness, is the word.
Yes, this life isn't going to be easy, and if it were easy, we could never learn to overcome and develop growth. It's only by working against resistance that we become stronger and stronger until we have the power to overcome Satan and ALL of his persuasions to quit.
For Satan whispers constantly; "There is NO God, and thus, there is NO Satan, so ... party on dudes for tomorrow you die, and THAT'S the end thereof, and those who listen to these soul killing persuasions, lose their inheritances of the riches of the eternities that otherwise could have been theirs.
But if you persist and say in return, no, there is a God, well then, Satan will then say, okay, well, ... I have a lot of churches professing God, and perhaps we can find one for you that will fill your itching ears?
Satan is determined to get you, one way or another, and it's going to take all your powers and God's help, to overcome him.
And THAT is why the Book of Mormon is so important in our days. It is a book that is put out there before the whole world, as a test. Yes, it is a record of the Lord's dealings with another peoples on another land, but, it's greatest work, is to test the world. Any and all, are invited to pray about that book, and it's answer from above, either confirm a prophet and church of our days, or it doesn't. Have you ever heard of another book so put to that kind of test?? It is because of that reason, the most unique book in all the world. ( Book of Mormon online= sacred-texts.com/mor/bom.htm ) Read and pray for yourself.
Margi's position, again, is not unique. And Satan tries with all his might to sway anyone, who builds their foundation on a rock as Peter did in Matthew 16:13-20. Beware!

Not to be rude, or to pick a fight but that was tl:dr (too long: didn't read)
I have spent my life being pontificated to by 'well meaning' arrogant religious people. I'm not in that same place anymore. I was merely trying to point out, that you didn't watch a word of the video because you made assumptions about Margi's testimony that were contradicted by her own words. And when you sit on your high horse you miss the opportunity to build bridges and to find connections with people without the lens of judgement.
I wish you the best but my life is too short (and the only one I've got) to read your speech above.
Hope at some point you can look inward and see where YOUR OWN LIFE needs improvements and growth. You'd be surprised at how beautiful the world and people can be when you aren't looking for reasons to look down on others.

    • @scipro6340
      @scipro6340 7 лет назад

Lady at Large; Of course you meant to be rude.
And you didn't understand MY point either. I simply pointed out, that Margi put herself in a bad spot.
And IF and the Gospel of Jesus Christ and all it's powers are true, as the prophets and apostles of the church of Jesus Christ has proclaimed it, and Margi once knowing it was a true church because of the Book of Mormon, and now recanting and calling God a liar and the church a lie. Then whatever problems that she was going through before, she has now effectively multiplied it.
That's what I spoke to! While I can sympathize with her plight, she made it worse, by rejecting God's own testimony of that Book of Mormon which is a keystone of the church of Jesus Christ.
And, 'that' is not pontificating, oh ignorant one.

You seem to still be answering with assumptions that run contrary to what Margi said about her testimony from her own words. But I feel as though we have been talking way too much about someone who is quite capable of sharing her beautiful experience without our help or interpretation, so there is no need for you and I to be rehashing it.
I will leave this here, with a thank you to Margi for being willing to be open and share her life. It helps so many people!
And SciPro, good luck and best wishes in all your future ventures...oh pontificating one. ;)
