I liked how you showed the trailer after two years and kept it real and not fixing it up and then posting the video. I was surprised to see how the trailer looked still looks pretty good.
I like your sides. The anti rattle clip works! Just picked up a harbor freight trailer yesterday cheap, got it road legal today! Need to put on some sides and wiring update. Thanks for the info. Sorry to hear about all the theives... People!
Imagine that! Somebody trying to steal something in Spokane... what a news flash! Ha ha ha Yes, the red paint does fade! Might want want to do bedliner like you said. Like the tailgate latches, might do that. As for the plywood floor, go to HF & buy their bedliner then roll it on. Tip: prime the wood 1st. Good review!
I watched your previous videos a few years ago and really appreciate the review! Just purchased one of these today and plan on doing a similar build w/bed liner coat. I live in Spokane so good to know that I need to cover my VIN. Thank you for the update!
Thanks!. I'd rather be hassled by the cops for a partially covered vin than have it stolen. The guy tried to pull it off at the Nevada street Harbor freight store. I do keep a ratchet with socket in the suv just in case I do get stopped by a cop. So I can remove the jack.
I also lost my tongue jack seal on the top I went to Home depot to the chain link fencing dept picked up an aluminum fencing cap I think 1-3/8 fit nicely needed to tap it in with a hammer.
I watched both of these videos for this trailer and I really appreciate you took the time to put them together and post. Really cool you did this '2 years into it' video to show how it has faired. I just picked up a used on and while the paint is still in good condition I really don't like the red color. Will look into DIY rattle can painting options.
Thanks for showing this for us on youtube, still the best looking trailer on youtube. I'm about to rebuild my trailer and I'm going to model it after yours.
Thank you!. I have no clue why this comment is not showing on Mobile and only on laptop. I apologize for the late reply. Wifi does not exist where I live. If I did it all over again, I would have gone with a bed liner type of spray instead of the undercoating. I"m honestly surprised that I have no rust. I did lightly sand the paint for the undercoat to stick properly. The light protectors are a MUST in my book. I have to check if they make metal guards for the side markers too. Cheers!.
Are you going to refurbish it or anything like that? It just looks faded but other than that I'd say it's looking pretty good. I figured it look worse than it does. I can't believe that people would keep on stealing that little cap and trying t take the vin number off. What are they trying to do with it after?
Those are basic mop handle storage brackets. If you already have similar handles, take them to your nearest store and test fit to some mop hangers. See which one holds the best.
I love this build- mine is similar. I need to add a rack on top of this to carry 4 kayaks on top, and camping gear in the main compartment (like you have here). I’ve done it before, but wasn’t in love w my own design. Any ideas? I’d love the too kayak rack to be removable when need, as I mainly use the trailer for cargo (like your setup). TIA to anyone w ideas.
Nice Job Troy! Your videos are great. One thing that would be much appreciated would be if you could list sources for the part and materials, particularly those latches you bought and the LED steel protector cages! I think there's a way you can provide links in the video notes and if people buy them on Amazon using your link you earn a commission on the sale. Why not!?!? Anyway, thanks for the great content. One of the best, most functional, durable, and simplest rail builds for the HF trailer!!
The one's in video I can't find. The outfit went out of business due to medical issues I believe. I posted links down in the video but they are not the ones I used. Check the reviews and specs on it to see if it will work for you.
I've never had the frame bend. If I have the trailer fully loaded, the jack itself might be slightly angled. This is the second trailer this Jacks been on too.
What undercoating did you use? I planned on doing the same thing to my trailer and ordered several cans of Rust-Oleum Professional Grade Rubberized Undercoating... then I found this video!
I used the Rust-Oleum rubberized paintable undercoating. Look at 0:43 in the ORIGINAL BUILD video. It's my only major regret in this video. The undercoating never dries. It stays tacky. It can rub off easily. Of I done this all over again. I would have paid a little more and used a spray on bedliner in a can or a roll on bedliner product. ruclips.net/video/v_GqE6AqRbg/видео.html

Thanks for the kind words. I hope all works out with your trailer. I have nothing negative to report at the moment.

@@TroysHobbies Did you use presuarized wood? I was debating to use that or not.

I saw your video by chance where did you get your c clamps for your back hinge from vibrating on the road ?

Thanks. I do have the links in the original video in the card. I will copy them and post them over here on this updated video. Thanks again. 👍
Is the fact the undercoating/black paint on the frame wearing off because it wasnt sanded/prepped first?
@@MapesT no. I bought the wrong stuff. It remains wet. It's supposed to protect from rust.
Appreciate you keeping it real bro nice video
Thank you
Where did you get the trailer light protection boxes? Thanks.

How does your trailer jack hold up if you have any weight in the back? I just put one on mine and the entire frame twists and flexes.
I've never had the frame bend. If I have the trailer fully loaded, the jack itself might be slightly angled. This is the second trailer this Jacks been on too.

I think the stock wheels are only rated @ 55MPH, how are the bearings holding up and have you towed long distance over 55?
I keep them greased and I have towed long distance with zero issues.
Have you had any issues with those fenders breaking off?
No issues at all
How far from the corners did you put the stake pockets?
The locations are set by the manufacturer. All I have to do is bolt it together. 21" from the corners to the stake bolt center.
How did you get the hwy rims and tires? You just traded them in?
HF sent me two recall letters
Still looks good. I remember following along when you built those trailers.
Thanks David. I've fallen behind on upkeep. She'll good as new soon.
Bedliner why not get galvanized aluminum trailer.
Do you know the weight of the trailer empty?
Sorry, I don't.
Meth problem in Spokane
You sound like Robert Downy Jr.
I get that a lot. Downey Jr or Dan Aykroyd.
