- It can be SO FRUSTRATING when your horse won't GO.
Constantly using stronger aids, whips, spurs, and MORE LEG doesn't usually help in the long term.

Oh, and thank you for addressing this kind of horse. There are hundreds of videos on the horse with too much go, very few on the horse with too much whoa
Totally describes my half draft horse. And your advice is spot on! I’m inspired!
Karen, I learned about your Dressage Naturally classroom through the magnificent trainer and teacher Liesbeth Jorna.
You must have worked so hard to get where you are now, and what a gift you have for explaining what you do, with knowledge, love and humour. Thank you. Also on behalf of the horses I play with 😊. They do go, by the way... thanks to this advice. 😁
You inspire.
You are very welcome! I’m glad you are enjoying the fruits of my labor 😎😍
Great and thoughtful advice, thank you! 🐴🩷
Grazie :)
My horse is definately the “loves to do nothing” horse 🤣 I will work on rests and see if it helps
Thanks for this Karen. My horse recently began stopping out hacking even in company sometimes. He never used to. Have to get off and lead him each time. Hoping to get through it that way but it's turned into quite a bit of walking for me! Not sure if im reinforcing it by getting off. Would be grateful for your thoughts, thanks
It's not something I would be able to give a great answer to over YT but I would pay attention to everything... when, where, how long until., when heading out or heading home, time of day... and what happens if you get back on, and is there any hint of this behavior in other circumstances, etc
Check for pain, tack, etc
Keep a journal and see if you can start connecting any dots.
@@KarenRohlf thanks Karen will do
My boys terrmed laid back but is he?
Is he sour?
Is he bored? Too clever? I.just dont know anymore. I still love him and ask that i can understand him.
Hes had many near misses in his life.
Hes just hard to motivate. I cannot work.him out. Is it pain?
He seems to like long reining, hanging out with me in general but not under saddle. I ride nareback with same results.
He only enjoys food and when we stop to chat with a person on a ride. He goes out slower than comes home.
Hes better in company with other riders but i hardly get this. ive tried not pushing, im a competent rider who isnt nervy. My other horses do not do this. he just grinds to a halt or walks back to the tack room. Ive come to the conclusion he must have a physical problem.
