this guy is deserves to name as legend of the watch maker in this century…i love his patient, and he always open stream live on his instagram when he doing watch
So much resourcefulness, creativity and originality! I especially love the ones that show other time-keeping systems. Reminds me of Masahiro Kikuno and his Temporal Hour watch. Kudos for starting a local watchmaking school too!
Hey Mark Lucky you to travel and meet Mr. Chaykin, the Joker have had one of my Grail watches cool interesting and fun, ever since I know about it. impressive pieces, love the cinema piece too. Great video. cheers
Of course I had to pause and go frame by frame on the notebook flipthrough. Admirable watchmaker with some very interesting pieces. I would definitely like to see a separate report on those clocks you mentioned at the end of the video, I'm always a fan of astronomical complications.
@12:40 - the Muybridge Horse-in-Motion , circa 1878 first every stop-motion movie made with a horse triggering strings connected to still cameras - to settle the debate of whether all four feet of a horse were off the ground at the same time while trotting... *Incroyable!* chaykin complication
Keep up the good work, another one of my favorite videos from your channel! There's something about Russian and Soviet era watches that I really enjoy but can't explain it. Would have loved to see footage of the Poljot/First Moscow Watch Factory before they shut down :(
Chaykin is a talented watchmaker. I particularly like their Carpe Diem watch & Jewish watch which has hands moving in reverse. I hope 🤞 you’ll do one ☝️ on Christiaan van der Klaauw also.
In August 1971 the U.S. Dept. Of defense paid $2.000.000.00 to Hamilton watch comp. for precision watchmaking equipment. This equipment was used in fabricating bomb and artillery shell fuses, aircraft timing gear, pinions and similar military components. Most Soviet watch manufacturing equipment has been supplied from the United States and Switzerland. In some cases the Soviets used copies of these foreign machines. Book reference: National Suicide by Antony C. Sutton.
Super cool video! Nice to see different matchmaking perspectives. BTW, the joker watch is my favorite 😀 Changing subjects Marc, since you've been covering other international manufacturers it would be great if you could fly to Japan to bring a fresh view of the Grand Seiko and Credor moving forward! Cheers
A very interesting video, thank you! However, I had the feeling it was a bit rushed and would have had a more natural rhythm if it had been divided in 2 episodes. There seemed to be too much content for just 16 minutes.
Why did you skip America's contribution to Russian watch making? Watchmaking was practically non-existent in Russia during the 18th and 19th centuries. Their watch industry began when the Communists took power. ALL the tools, machines, plans, processes, and procedures came from America in 1930, along with 21 American watch makers to teach them. This is what started the dynamic Soviet watch industry.
Next Tours RGM, U-Boat and Invicta cause I know a lot here including myself, really want to know if they truly are any Swiss Made Factories that they own. And please no one here act like you wouldn't want to know either we all do.
@@watchestv-com I agree. If you can someway somehow get Invicta to show Us their ''Swiss'' Factories it may actually debunk all those rumors. I happen to think Invicta makes a decent entry level watch for the price but their older stuff from the early to mid-2000's where their best yrs. I also believe U-Boat along with Sinn and or maybe even Seiko or Citizen?
Ah Dang it I want that Joker so bad now, yet there are so few of them 😭 going for double retail on pre-owned market. Green stitching and purple on the inside of the strap is dope
This is a fine example of creativity of Eastern European Countries . The communist regime squeezed this out from us. We can do a motorcycle from a chainsaw. With simple tools. Genius means simplicity. Bravo Chaykin I am proud of you and thanks for the video such nice story.
Certainly not up to Swiss standards, his finish/polish standards needs a lot of work. Of course that's to be expected when there are no watchmaking schools in Russia.
Didn't mention this, but there is indeed some room for improvement ;) but they will get there I'm pretty sure and some pieces are actually already very well executed in terms of finishing. Best to you
@@watchestv-com For sure. It would be a worthwhile investment to put his staff through a Geneva watchmaking school to develop best practices. Immaculate finishing and polishing is expected from demanding customers now-a-days.
@@watchestv-com OK so it wasn't just me to notice this. lol The clocks however looked fascinating and beautiful, I for one would enjoy an episode on these.
The joker watch has got to be one of the most hideous watches I've ever seen, most of his watches are a joke.He needs to go to Switzerland and learn refinement.
Chaykin is a magician. Would he be Swiss, the entire would adore him. I hope he continues and doesn't give up
There's unfortunately a bit of that... Thanks for the comment and best to you
Cedar Canoe - Russians don't give up.
Thanks You So Much For All This Information!!!!!! 😊😊😁😁😀😀😄😄😆😆

Fascinating video, Marc! Interesting, very talented watchmaker, maybe one of the most creative ones around.
What is interesting is that he dares to do things. Sometimes here people limit themselves too much! Best to you

That's nice of you, thanks a lot!
Very interesting watches! And the story behind Konstantin is pretty inspiring.
Original and inspiring, very true!

His watches are simply mind-blowing!!!!
A very talented and creative watchmaker. Personally I love the "Carpe Diem" watch. As always good video, Marc!
Keep up the good work Marc & crew. Very interesting portrait of a quite different watchmaker.
Very appreciated and yes we still have plenty of ideas and projects, just need to find the time to make it happen, but will get there, promise!!!

@@watchestv-com fantastic contribution Marc
This guy is awesome. If anything to be added, he could work a bit on the finishing, but really really creative
Yes, understand you on this, but they will certainly get there too, but takes time to develop these special skills and then at what price
Amazing and creative
Well summarised!

You can have your Pateks, Paul Newman Daytonas, tourbillons, and grand complications.
My grail is the Joker.
Great!!!!!!!
A must have timepiece the joker
I wish the host would just shut up and let the watchmaker talk instead
