there is the manta subs that will be assign to record "movement" in the depth of adversarial sea. since they will not be able to tell whether the detected object are either subs or just giant whales, they record everything. and then periodically send the data back to the navy intelligence. and the navy that will make sense with the data gathered. so the manta sub would act like a hidden "pinger" in the depth. probably using a sophisticated sonar tech that wont be audible to common underwater sonar sensors so they wont be caught while scanning their surrounding with that unique sonar tech. and positioning of those manta subs while laying low to gather data in relation with each others in the map will give ideas of the range movement of detected objects, so they could be identified whether they are in fact subs and not fishes.
