  • In my second video I set off to a beautiful lake in the heart of The Lake District in search of some Trophy Trout! - I hiked a several mile long trip with the weight and pressure of catching a fish being HEAVY on my shoulders from the last video!
Nevertheless I set off with high hopes and feeling confident that I'd hook up to some stunning fish and oh... I did alright! But not quite how I planned?!
I hope this video was a fun watch and a good example of me getting more confident behind and on the camera, I look forward to the next one!
    Equipment used:
Rod - La mostoque 1-7g spinning rod
    Reel - Daiwa ninja 3000
Lure boxes - LMAB small tackle box, LMAB hard bait tackle box
Lures - LMAB Finesse fillet craw 4 and 7cm, LMAB 7cm bleakshad, LMAB Køfi good vibe, LMAB Køfi perch 7cm
Tackle - LMAB jig, ned and offset tungsten hooks
    Thank you for watching!

Great Fish marra. Have to laugh I did exactly the same as you the other month . Brand new lure and hook , thought I'd clipped it on to my trace and threw it in the canal !!!! Stood there like an idiot looking at my bare trace, then at the canal, then back to my trace , then back at the canal, trying to fathom what I'd done.

Really nice work - did full justice to setting and the perch. Thanks for the gear list - very helpful except that I couldn’t work out which (Ned) soft plastic the best perch took. Would you mind letting us know, please?

Do you know the 'ping' method for getting off a snag with a jig? You may well do but if not. Point the rod directly at the snag, pull it taught, pluck your braid/line outward, hard, like plucking a big guitar string and as you let go push the rod forwards a bit (to create a little slack) do this in one smooth action and often the jig will release. You are looking to get the stretch of the flouro to snap backwards and that can shock the lure off the snag. Takes a little practice but works I think at least 50% of the time provided the hook isnt set too deep into whatever it is. Similar to the method used by fish when they shake your hook out, they pull and quickly let it slack causing the hook to move outward, although for them its instinctive not planned.

Ahh awesome! Thank you, well described too. Funnily enough I found a video describing this method after that session haha!

I never care how long my fish are and I’ve never understood why people do , it’s just the weights I’m bothered about if it looks like it’s 2lb mark I’ll get the scales out , anyway we’ll done and good luck for the future fella and look forward to watching more and , NEVER LEAVE THE SCALES AT HOME AS YOU NEVER KNOW 😂

Cracking little video got a question, is it a northern thing to call big perch a toad? Toads aren’t even big we’re I’m from we call them tanks firstly because it goes well with size and also the link to there nick name Sargents. Much more appropriate name I thing rather than a frog or a mushroom from mario 😂
