  • In this week's edition of All Access, we take a trip to Dallas, Texas for a behind-the-scenes glimpse at an SMU men's basketball practice. Follow along as Hall of Fame basketball coach Larry Brown leads his team through the 'Iverson Drill.' In this individual shooting/scoring drill, players will start along the wing and then, one at a time, sprint hard across the top of the key and just beyond a cone set up on the floor.

FR though! I waz a huge Iverson fan in high school and I remember reading about those 2 always butting heads and was always nervous it would ruin what they had going and now the rest is history. Gotta love Brown and AI, both matured in such an awesome way. 🏀 4life

Iverson is a play/series where 2 stagger screens are set for an off ball player to run across the court. It stresses the defense by either slowing the man defending the offensive player running off the stagger screens enough to give space for a shot/drive or forces them to commit to switching on the stagger screens opening the door for mismatches/miscommunications. Larry Brown ran this for Iverson when he was with him in Philadelphia. I run a version of this series with my youth team. Easy to teach/execute and it highlights how we can force adjustments and then take advantage of those same adjustments.
