- Welcome back to Shadows of Doubt! In this video we FINALLY move up in the world and get ourselves a nice apartment! It turns out the building in this game is extremely buggy but I'm super happy with the end result. We finally have a place to call home in this brutal city.

@@cryptilli LOL yeah, he doesn't always read closely enough and he ends up making wrong assumptions for a while. He literally hovered over the button that said "open a folder with the location of your apartments" while he was looking for a button that would show you where your home is

Just in case anyone is confused, some vandalism cases have a "requirement" to "fill with trash." This is why the cases weren't completeing even after breaking multiple windows. It completed after the milk as the milk counted as trash (i think it has to be an item from outside the target's place to count.)

The house button on the top left of the map opens your house! You can route to it from there. You hovered over it when discussing that at 14:41

What I’ve found with the housing system is that the room you are in when you first open the decor menu affects the list of objects, with each room having its own unique furniture list. So I’ve been making sure to manually close that menu every time I want to decorate a different room, and by doing that I didn’t have to reload.
I think for the Vandalism cases you really need to check whether its doing damage or just filling the place with trash. I think that might be why it appeared bugged and the milk worked 😄

As far as the investigation with the individual with the initial "R". It said their interest was beer, so you could visit all the bars in town and ask the bar staff if they know that person. Although you don't have a picture, you have some details that form a description. Haven't had a case exactly like it, but have had cases where I presented 'unknown' photos and they said "That's not enough information for me to go off of", which implies you don't need all the info or a photo for them to identify someone.
Thank you Insym! Started watching you for Phasmo, ended up falling in love with your personality and style of presentation and anything you play is so engaging to watch. After I saw the first two videos on this series I just had to get this game and I'm loving it!
2:24:00 You might be able to check all beer suppliers in town(Grocery stores sell alcohol too), their security footage, and you should be able to get a number of very short people from that. With those photos you can ask around town until someone recognizes them by name and see if the name starts with R. Finally you ransack their place to find out how old they are.
Breaking their windows count as damage your task was to trash their apartment. There are multiple types of vandalism cases. The one you had last time that workrd pacifically asked you to break their windows.

I was going to wait until the end of the video to say this, just in case he already knew, but I keep stopping it to play the game myself, so; Insym, you can ram into the doors (run at them and right click before impact) to break them down while the tenants are trying to re-lock the door. You not only bypass needing a key/lockpicks, but you knock them out, too. It makes arrests SUPER easy, but also searching single-tenant apartments (you can cuff 'em if you need more time to search) for clues/things to steal.

P.S - Not sure if anyone already mentioned this but for the vandalism tasks you need to pay attention to what TYPE of vandalism is necessary. The case towards the end needed you to TRASH the place. That's why the milk worked when breaking windows didn't. Hope this helps.

I keep checking your videos each day to see whether you upload a new episode and I am always so happy when there is one.
Since I started watching these I bought the game and boy did my first case went interestingly.
I went to Kwama first who told me about the actual murderer whom I visited promptly. I tried getting into his house but got discovered and had to hide, and when I went back in, he was nowhere to be found. I immediately knew he was going for Kwama so I ran out the apartment and down one level, at which point I decided I'll take the elevator and opened the door. I was in such a hurry that I didn't realize the lift was not there in fact and one has to call it first, so I promptly fell around 9 floors to my death... Queue me waking up at the hospital and losing all the money I made thus far, I rushed to Kwama, knocked on the door like crazy, but his wife answered and Kwama was alive. I turned around trying to go out, at which point the security gate closed...I was like, what is this? I went back to Kwama thinking the worst and lo and behold, the murderer opened their door and was trying to get away, at which point, I arrested them.
All in all, not the best start, but 10 out of 10 would do it again :D
Yes please! This series just gets better and better, cant wait to get of work and watch this video with a nice little snack. Can't tell you how glad I am that Insym is enjoying this as much as we are.

They should really add co-op, would open the game so much more. Have your buddy/partner cause a distraction, or help solve cases with you as you look at a persons work place the other could go to there house to look for clues, would be tons of fun!

Why is it that Insym is sometimes illiterate? The Vandalism cases tell you HOW to cause the damage. Break windows, Littering, etc. The one he was working at 2:42:20 needs him to litter. THROW TRASH ABOUT!!!

Since every citizen has their own photo and personalized features about themselves, I think they should add a way to customize your character (as far as appearance goes) instead of having no photo on your computer profile. That would make the game even more immersive and you can be part of the city as well. I hope we will see more episodes, this game is addicting 😂

1:22:17 Living in this corporate dystopia, a person with this synthdisk makes $25 every 2 hours which ain't bad as an entire day (24hrs/2) gives $300. A week of passive income is $2100 while a thirty day month is $9000. So for an entire year, a passive income of $109,000 ain't too shabby with the full upgrade. In terms of monetary potential, that synthdisk is probably worth enough to murder someone for honestly 😆(Also comment for the algorithm, not that it needs it lol)
Trying to decorate my apartment completely broke my game. :( I got stuck in my ‘F’ menu while trying to close the apartment decorating menu, but it was completely blank. All of my active cases were wiped clean and I couldn’t exit out of it, but could interact with the world even though the transparent menu was still on the screen. But only the things that you could left click on, and nothing that requires a right click. It couldn’t be fixed even when reloading an older save. I experienced every bug Insym had in this video prior to it breaking completely, too. Also, the keypad (which only appeared sometimes after picking it up and placing it again) on my safe just opened a blank note about an entry wound… I had to start a new world and I’m still so devastated about losing my previous world with 12+ hours of work that I haven’t touched the game for days now. To everybody thinking about trying to decorate your house… just don’t! Wait until the devs fix it! I’m glad Insym got it to work (mostly) and didn’t get any game breaking bugs like I did.

I'm enjoying the 1801 Lai Grove apartment but now I have to earn more cash just to put furniture in it because it bankrupted me!
I always send the elevator to floor 19 and then drop down the open shaft to leave because I have the no fall damage disk installed. Just remember to call it again on the ground floor before you leave because it's a long wait otherwise.
Business names seem to be randomly generated even with a seed so my pawn shop for example is called Explorer's Emporium and that Asian restaurant next door is called Flower in my game. Regardless of that though, it is so fun to be walking around the same city in my game while watching this on the other screen. Love it!
since you keep mentioning The Sims every time you start to decorate, I wouldn't even mind seeing you play it! Been absolutely LOVING all of these made-for-YT videos, please keep them coming!

Commenting on the security camera thing: they can be good for establishing alibis for suspects when you fail to find hard evidence. I once had that happen: no murder weapon, no fingerprint, no hint item, just trash dropped next to the victim by people walking past her. I searched through security cam footage of a nearby business and then suspected a couple of people for lack of alibi which I then used to gather eyewitness accounts. Then I arrested one of them based on the order of events I had written in sticky notes based on eyewitnesses and caught the murderer.
I hope the devs plan on incorporating some Noir Jazz into the soundtrack. Maybe some extended generic dialog to make NPCs feel more interactable.

Sorry to double post but it seems that printing documents makes noise, Insym! You can see the expanding circles around the printer, and a yellow sound icon appear near the lady which appears to mean she 'heard' the printer, and was coming over to check. I remember when you were tossing a vase before the same 'sound circles' appeared too.
Just a thing im pretty sure if the name shows up above a card its because u know the person / have the info in ur possesion that matches with the info you got. so you can just look them up in ur own book top left searching thing for example instead of going to the government building to get kwame since you already indentified this person you can look em up. When moving and putting everything in storage it does matter if ur on furniture items or the other things
I was watching this video and when you said ‘I’m sorry to anyone who clicked on this video expecting me to solve crimes and I’m just decorating my house’ and that but made me laugh because everyone who knows you, knows that you absolutely LOVE this part of games. Subnautica is a great example, you had an awesome base! I’ve been really enjoying this series, thank you for sharing the journey with us ❤️

Been absolutely loving this series! One of my side jobs in my own version of New Amsterdam involved finding someone with a specific salary (something like ~150k ¢r) whose name started with a J and had some other identifier I don't remember. The task was to vandalize their apartment. I was rifling through the government database and found someone who matched the description finally, looked up his address in the directory, and paid him a visit. Knock on the door and he opens up, seems like a nice older gentleman. He gives me his name and even offers to let me tour his apartment for no charge. His apartment is quite small - basically a living room with an attached kitchen and a small bedroom, so it's unlikely this is the guy. I wait until he moves to his bedroom and I rifle through his things and find a SyncDisk and an upgrade vial, score! I feel like this is the guy, but I keep digging and find his employment contract. He works part time for like ~30k ¢r a year. Woops. At this point he catches me snooping around so I just bolt out and don't think too much of it.
... until I go to install the SyncDisk, and realize it's the one where you can make 2¢r for advertising Starch Kola to someone (or I think 6¢r if you sell someone a Starch Kola.) So here I am, taking a side job to cause harm to someone, I find who I think is the target, realize it's not them, *rob them anyway*, then come to find out the guy is probably ready to retire and keep himself afloat by making a few coins here and there with what would effectively be a side job. Guy had probably saved up the cash to buy these things to kick off his retirement.
Obviously the game is all procedurally generated so nonet of this was scripted but the power in games like this is having a baseline game that is fun and interesting enough, that then gives you the opportunity to create storylines in your own head. This is also something Phasmophobia, Barotrauma, and tons of other games have in common - you're rolling the dice to find those truly amazing scenarios, but you don't mind rolling because the base gameplay is fun enough to keep you interested.
Anyway, I wouldn't have had this experience without you and your playthrough so cheers for that mate! I'll see you on the streets of New Amsterdam.

Cameras are so annoying if you don't know how to deal with them. But there is a easy way to! I won't give it right away unless you do read more. Their detection works just like npcs. Be sneaky.
Whats a good way to conceal yourself?
All you have to do is turn off the lights in the room and your flashlight. Then the cameras will easily not spot you.
Though its a bit annoying when you can't see, you gotta juggle the flashlight.
This doesn't work for lasers.
Also Insym I have the same bug as you where no murder cases would pop up. Like happened twice in two different cities. Something has to be broken but who knows what.
perhaps murders are taking place but you're not being notified of it?

Had to pause the video at 1:50:06 to type this comment. First of all, I love the length of these videos, watching Insym solving crimes for 2-3 hours is better than any CSI or Sherlock Holmes episode. Also, the main reason I wanted to type this comment is that I love seeing Insym struggle with pronouncing Greek last names(papageorgiou for example)! This game and the content you give us Insym, is everything I wanted. I'm having so much fun, I'm seriously considering buying this game to support this awesome dev!

For the case you're asking for advice on: I haven't played the game myself, I've just watched your videos, so I'm not sure this works, but: you could try looking in the medical building for medical records and learn people's ages from there. Then you could pretty easily single out who it is.

Remember to READ the assingment next time :P. On the last vandalism case it specifically said to cause dmg by filling the house with trash, luckily you did for some reason do the whole milk thing so you still got the job done by accident.
@INSYM in the map window there's a House icon at the left side. You actualy did put your mouse over it a few times xD
ALSO just press F1 to open the search window. EVERY info you ever found is kept there. (when you were looking for Kwame, for example)
I think sometimes the game bugs if you rush and don't do things in order. So, you need to identify a person before throwing the food at them. Also, I think you can reach the gov database from another computer, which is just nearby the one you use, but it's much easier cause you don't have to beat up an employee to get there😅
So far. I've just been... borrowing stuff to pawn later.
They should have a case where you get framed then you have to figure out who framed you clear your name all without getting caught by the police.
Honestly, this is a really good idea, I’d love to watch Insym try to figure out who framed him 😆
The reason the Vandalism case didn't trigger until you threw the milk is because it was to fill the apartment with Trash! There are 2 types of Vandalism : destroy and dump trash. It was written in the case info

I've actually solved a stolen item case after there were no finger prints! I pretty much just checked all of their friends until I found the item with the owner's fingerprint still on it.
I, uh, did end up being killed by the security system while I was stealing it though, and the injuries were bad enough they they took all of my money, and then I had to break back into the apartment to steal the item back again... So it wasn't really worth it. But it's possible if you don't bumble through it like I did!
I'm responding as I go, so hopefully you don't just figure this out later in the video, but the button to open up the info for your apartment is second down from the top on the map screen. In between "center on your character" and "open information about current location" (paraphrased, can't remember the exact terms used)
Ok another fun tip I've figured out--pretty much every computer in City Hall outside of the first entryway can access the city records (so I think it's every Enforcer office and medical ward office). A lot of times employees will log in and walk away from the computer, and you're not trespassing if you're in the reception area, so you can really easily find a computer with the database up and use it without anyone bothering you. It's a little OP, I wouldn't be too surprised if that's changed later...
I think if you place new clean flooring you can get rid of the roches😅.. also I love this series can't wait see you playing it finished
