This P-47N-15 became a nightmare for me to fly, really performed bellow the other Thunderbolts that i've played in the lower tiers. Still don't know why i''ve bought back in the day, i've could say this and the F9F Cougar are some the worst fighers that i've research and played in WT.
Not gonna lie I really enjoy the technology of this time, with the very last gen of iconic fighters in 44-45. I admit though this thunderbolt was quite difficult to do well in, its EXTREMELY heavy and clunky at times, but it definitely gets fast after a while. I do enjoy all the Thunderbolts, but I would personally choose the P-47D-28, even though its technically inferior
Clipped wings improves the roll rate and maneuverability, a bit more speed at lower levels, some at higher alts but less noticeable, increased visibility (cause those tips don't block the view), dive speed, and acceleration. It's why it effectively became the standard of all aircraft, the larger wings on the N were a product of needing more range and counteracting some of the drawbacks of clipped wings (like decreased surface area). And the N feels sluggish cause it's a lot heavier than the D-25 by several thousand pounds if I recall right. Though the roll rate also depends on where exactly and how much fuel your bringing - you bring a full load cause of where the wing tanks are and all it actually kinda screws it, but if the min load keeps it in the center tanks or you use it up, it gets back up there. Also, have to be smart about it, and know how to use flaps, but while it's better at boom and zoom, P-47 can dogfight some of the single engine planes, especially when some players are really dumb and try and turn fight it at higher speeds that it's actually better at than their plane (like all those fools that think it's a good idea to have an A6M as fast as they can get it). Especially some planes that are slow in to turns that it can beat them in to it so you get an angle, take a shot, then turn back off and gain distance cause get far enough out it can take a head on better and those 8 .50's can chew things up, especially when your used to them and can open up on planes about 1.5 km out and score hits.
They need to reduce the fuel load on the thing and make it where at min fuel the weight is only in the centerline tanks. That'll make the P-47N truly worth it. Long wings mixed with 2800 horsepower and reduced weight-if the min fuel gets reduced that is-it'd be a beast. but that min fuel is what is really tanking the P-47N. If they just kick that down, the plane would be so much more better
This plane's main crippling weakness is that, due to the increased weight, the climb rate is absolutely abysmal. It's turbocharged engine and long wings full of fuel clearly give away the P-47N's historical role as a high-altitude, long-range escort fighter. It's a dedicated BnZer with poor climb and unremarkable low altitude performance, making it very unsuitable for Air RB battles where rapidly climbing from sea level to medium altitude in the first few minutes is the name of the game. There are no air to air combat scenarios in War Thunder where the D-28/D-30 wont be the better option. I think the P-47N might be better and played more often with an Interceptor spawn.
Good lord yes spade and play this plane everyone, it's great and very handy. I use the ground target belts and they work pretty dang well for all around use and I think they actually excel at killing bombers, but I know it can be debatable. Full disclosure though, I play the heck out p-47s and they are some of my favorites particularly the 2 P-47M planes in the US tree (Ugly Duckling and the Polish model) so I know many players feel 2 or 3 P-47's are plenty and good one you , play what you enjoy. I enjoy playing vehicles from 3.0 to 5BR more than I like messing with my modern top tier planes and tanks.
My problem with the P-47 is the firepower. Yes, it has a lot of .50 cals but they rarely get kills in head-ons. All US planes with MGs have that problem for me.
With MEC you can use WEP constantly. It's weird you don't use it as it's a plane you really do need to use MEC to properly fly it, otherwise you're just screwed by the auto radiator control setting it to 0% with WEP.
The other day i did a 2v1 against two fw190s and then in the same match reversed a bf109f4 and defeated him in scissors by using the flaps alittle, pretty capable, just have to watch the roll rate and predict where theyre going to go
Could you do a video on the M14/41 (47/40) that's in the war bond shop for this season? I got a 50% off coupon for it last year and I had a ton of fun using it to grind the first three ranks of Italy :)
Should I buy rhe av8? I have only been playing for 3 days but I have managed to get my hands on rank 3 us planes and was wandering if the av8 is a worth it investment. I’m really enjoying the game and I think it would really help me out
I still dunno why the 5.0 P-47 is at that BR... iirc the ONLY difference is its propeller being larger. anyways, it's only a valid 'kill-steal' if the enemy is on fire or literally in the middle of getting lit-up by a teammate. otherwise it's always free game.
I had no idea this thing was made for the pacific theater?! Is it told in the “n-15” even though N is typically for “night fighters”. Was it also only used for the marines cos I don’t see an arresting hook?
@@YukarisGearReviews that’s the thing tho, Air Force became a thing after WW2 and n typically is used for night fighting aircraft such as the F6F-5N and F4U-1N. Granted those weren’t night fighter designs just modifications.
1000lb bombs are so annoying in low-mid tier grb when all my german casemates cant do anything but stare at the bombs as they drop, at least the russians gave their casemates dshk and the americans always have .50s to have some hope.
IMO the P-47N-15 is pretty much as anti-meta as it gets, it has great high speed control and maximum speed but very poor climb compared to its peers and insane energy burn.
The guns are WAAAAAAY too far apart for me. Your convergence zone is the size of a marble compared to the other P-47’s. I would argue it’s worse in almost every possible way. The roll, climb, and manueverability are all worse than other P-47 models. You’re also littered with fuel tanks. Funny how this is meant for high altitude but it can’t climb fast enough to reach high altitude
gaijin make the model unstable.. that is not proper for the airplane.. especially the early ones.. and super heavy like they are bombers heavy .. in reality the p47 was not that bad as the game present them ... i believe that gaijin intentionally made worst the US tech tree than it was in reality and they buff the soviet russian tanks..
Worst P-47 in the tech tree tbh. It's slow and doesn't climb and turning ability is nonexistant. And then there is the habit of stalling the wing and going into unrecoverable spin... Yes, at high alt it could perform but getting there takes longer than the average match.
The P-47's don't get enough love. They all can be good, but people don't know how to exactly play them

The 25m timer has not been nice to the 47s
Also the fact that most fights are at lower alts nowadays
The p47 *is* one of those planes that can continually use WEP with the help of mec, and it doesn’t sacrifice much performance, if any, to do so.
