  • Hello!
The BSRA hosted a fantrip on February 19th, 2022 which used a DMA AN460LF, AN440LF ETB and an RTS to commemorate the farewell to the Trackless Trolleys. This video covers the first half of the trip, starting from the North Cambridge Carhouse to Aberdeen Avenue to Watertown.
I also wanted to give a big thank you to the Boston Street Railway Association for all their hard work into making this fantrip such a memorable and amazing event. The drivers and the organizers did a really good job and their work does not go under appreciated.
I hope you enjoy the video!
    Stay safe everyone!

The BSRA did a great job. It was also nice to see younger people like ourselves on the trip!

The MBTA runs it's system like Disneyland does. It's good for hobbyists with cameras but if you are using it to commute to and from work it ceases to be fun if it takes you two hours in each direction. This area had a better transit system one hundred years ago than it has now. Some of the old train stations have been converted into restaurants and ice cream shops (instead of waiting areas for passengers) and then there is the old Bedford rail line that has been converted into a bike path. They also shut down Mishawum Station on the Lowell line for some perverse reason, so now you have to walk several extra miles if you are trying to commute to that area.
Yes, there is some true intelligentsia planning things out for the MBTA.

What MBTA Boston could have done was replace the AN440 with XT40 AN460 XT60. Both will have batteries if needed to run I-90 NY Thruway Massachusetts Turnpike Big dig section

Someone better contact Seashore, and Sandtoft trolley bus museums, to save one for their trolley bus collections. Too bad, MBTA trolley bus fleet goes to the scrap. Latin America or the Soviet country's probably will use them for their existing trolley bus networks.

Apparently the MBTA is beholden to GM diesel buses. It is a lot cheaper to repair and inspect double wired electric buses. Chicago got rid of theirs in 1973. So Boston wants to imitate Chicago.
