Europe itself shouldn't even be considered a "continent" since its geography is in no way seperated from Asia. That's why Eurasia is a mostly accepted term to describe the landmass.
Europe is a continent. Well actually the Indo-Europeans actually came from Eurasia and then migrated into the land of Europe many thousands of years ago
In my opinion, Turkey is geographically and historically connected with Europe. I mean, it’s historical ruins are representing the European culture (I know, those things weren’t directly built by the Turks but I’m talking about what they have today.) Also it’s climate pretty similar to other Balkanian and South European countries. But in the sense of culture, Turkish culture depends on where you live. If you live in the Western Turkey, it’s possible for you to see modern and liberal Turks, but when you go to the east, it’s being similar to other Asian cultures (But of course we should say that in Eastern Turkey, mostly Kurds live and their culture is more conservative than Turks). In the sense of genetics, well studies say that today Turkey Turks are between 40% to 45% European due to historical migrations from Balkans/Caucasus to Turkey. So I think it’s a uniqe country that includes both west and east but I wouldn’t mind if they join the EU because they are already part of the Europe in lot’s of categories (Sport, Law, Politics, History, Geography, Music, Art, Culture, etc.)

Half of Turkiye is in Europe, the other half is in Asia. It is exactly in Eurasia and neighbors with 3 regions. (Balkans, Middle East and Caucasus) The Bosphorus was formed later geologically. In other words, before the Bosphorus was formed, the northwest of Anatolia and Europe were not separate. On the other hand, some people say that Turks are not ethnically and culturally European. Today, the concept of Europeanness is based on Christianity, but Christianity is not a European religion. The real Europeans are the Greeks and the Latins in Italy. Because they established the European civilization. The Romans described people of Germanic and Celtic origin as uncivilized barbarians. People of Germanic and Celtic origin later became Europeans thanks to the Romans. No other people are European except the Greeks and the Latins (in Italy).

Europe is not limited to Western Europe and Turkey is not the only Turkic country with Ural-Alta roots in the European continent. It is also not the only Muslim country in Europe. In the continent of Europe, in addition to Turkey, parts of the territory of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, all the territories of the Republics of Tatarstan, Bashkiria, Chuvashstan, Kumyk-Balkar, Karachay-Cherkess, the Crimean Peninsula are of Turkish origin, and the countries of Hungary, Finland and Estonia are of the origin of the Ural Altai and the countries of Kosovo. , Bosnia, Albania, Chechnya, Dagestan and... As a Turk living on the Anatolian side of Turkey, I say that in most parts of Anatolia the lifestyle is almost the same as in most Turkic countries, there is little difference in terms of language and culture, among the commentators there are those who say: Turks are culturally European.😀
Had Christianity be a more dominant religion in the region, Turkey had long been accepted in the European Union. As a Dravidian who has lived in Istanbul, Turkey is neither European nor Asian. It's Eurasian. Even though some people of the country says they're Asian, they're really Asian. After conquering West Asia and Balkans, they could've married Greek/Balkanian women and the modern Turkish people could've got the blood of both Asians and Europeans. Eurasia but geographically mostly in asia and culturally mixed between european and asian Turkey is probably the most asian European country and the most european asian country but i think its more asian since historically they're from central/western asia
Albania, Kososvo and Bosnia suddenly left Europe when you said that. Turkey was a part of the Christendom for hundreds of years, we were at the heart of it. Furthermore, we are NOT a muslim country. WE ARE SECULAR. There are many countries in Europe who's legislation does not follow any religion.

turkey they called themselves secular country but the flag of the turkey it shows its Islamic dominant more than secular and lately there’s spreading the ideologies of Islam in Turkey become Islamic dominant which is bad to a lot of original religion of others before Islam. European should be careful with this country. The history shows what happened to the culture and history of others nation it should not be European country.
If Turkey isn't culturally, ethnically nor geographically similar to Europe then shall we just forget about the balkan countries? Turks have extremely a similar language to majority of the balkan states, not to mention the obvious ties with cuisine and general culture and traditions (i.e. the evil eye, woven lace etc). We have had such an immense impact on the southern and Eastern European counties it's crazy. The same can be said vice versa. Hungarians and Turks come from the name ancestors of Gokturks and majority of europeans are considered to have the Anatolian Farmer gene. If by ethnically you are talking about our looks, can you tell the difference between a Turk, Greek and an Italian? It seems not, considering that in recent times Michael Amato who is an Italian has been mistaken as a Turk and given the name "Turkish Quandaledingle". Percentage wise we have more blonde hair, blue eyes people than other southern European countries. If you go as so far to say it's because of religion, then Bosnia, Kosovo and Albania are not European. Besides, Turkey is constitutionally a SECULAR country with democratic and liberal values. We aren't Arab scums. Thank you xx.
@@balcamisis European civilization is based on 3 pillars, Greek Philosophy, Roman laws and Christian morality. None of them are present in Turkey, they belongs to another civilization with Islan as base. Why say that Turkey is not Europe bothes you? Why you need to be called european? Civilizationally you are not.
@@pedroledoux9779 The problem with your argument is that, no, we don't have Islam as a base for our civilisation. Again, and I encourage you to look it up, Turkey is a democratic SECULAR country. Turkey has officially been a secular country since its 1924 constitution was amended in 1928. This was later strengthened and entrenched with the wider appliance of laicism by founder Atatürk during the mid-1930s, as part of the Republican reforms. The current Constitution of 1982 neither recognizes an official religion nor promotes any. The principles of Turkish secularism, and the separation of state and religion, were historically established in order to modernise the nation. This is it, simple as. So by definition, we follow 2/3 of your criteria of a European country, the one that we do not follow is your rule about the Christendom which is because we are an atheist country. If you have a problem about countries in Europe who do not follow christian morals, then you also must have a problem with the muslim majority Balkan countries as well. We obviously follow "greek philosophy and roman laws, " we were at the epicentre of such ethics! Have you forgotten Turkey being the centre piece of both the East Roman and Byzantine empires? We share a deep and close philosophical (and genetic) tie with Greeks as well. I'm sorry but your argument does not stand.
Turkey is a secular country and many of our people are atheist and do not associate themselves with Arab practices. Our constitution forbids connecting legislation and religion. Until 2013, any religious headdress was forbidden outside of the home. Please educate yourself before commenting.

Ah okay, according to this nonsense and similar reasons, there could be many continents in the world. The Chinese continent, the Arabian continent, the Indian continent, the Greenland continent, which is more logical than Europe being a continent, the Siberian continent, the Italian continent, etc. I can easily draw boundaries by taking a pen in my hand. European imperialists love it. The biggest reason for this discrimination and denialism is that people living in the European region do not want to be on the same landmass as the rest of the continent. Other reasons are historical hostilities, Christian bigotry, Europeans considering themselves superior to other people, racism, ethnic and cultural differences, Europe seeing itself at the center of the world, etc. The real question is this: If you are not blind, how can you deny this and deceive yourself so easily when you look at the map and see a single piece of land from Portugal to Japan? If you write this geographical lie in geography books for hundreds of years, it should not be difficult to make the people there accept these lies since you have exploited and colonized almost all the continents of the world. If you say Europe has been a continent for hundreds of years, people will eventually accept it.

Turkey’s population is definitely Asian, Eastern Thrace was mostly populated by Greeks people, and even Anatolia ( Pontic Greeks at the western part on the Black Sea, and Smyrne and Constantinople (that have been Turkised to Istanbul and Izmir)) but because of the en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Population exchange between Greece and Turkey after WW2, most of the Anatolian Greeks had to go to the kingdom of Greece (same as the turks that have to leave rumelia) so in my opinion, Turkish people are from Asia and mainly have an Asian culture. However before the arrival of the Turks in Anatolia in 1300, greeks people (from bizantine empire) can be considered as Asian due to most of its population living in the eastern Anatolia (but also in mainland Greece, Egypt for a time with the hellenisation until the Muslim conquests and the balkans.) also culturally speaking, turkey as it is a predominantly Muslim country (except the one heavily influenced by the Ottoman Empire such as Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina) share mostly an asian culture
