This is not really a rivalry to me. It’s just a contentious game that the marketeers in the SEC dubbed a ‘rivalry’ game to appease the fans of both bases giving up traditions they were already used to. You can’t put two puppies together, rub their noses and watch them fight only to then call it a rivalry. Still, As A&M has improved in the SEC over the years, these two teams have developed a great deal of respect for one another and both take this game seriously. It’s always a good game.
@deadmessengr Were you alive in the Mid 80's when we played A&M every year? Back then LSU was raiding East Texas so it was beginning to feel like a rivalry but the 90's rolled around and LSU had to stop the game because A&M was beginning to whip us regularly. Since they joined the SEC LSU got the better of them until the 7 overtime game at Kyle Field. Since then LSU fans have learned to hate them.
