Yes, those are the 2 primary orders that teams run the race, since the anchor leg is almost always a guy because you would be asking a female to have to outsprint a male on the last 100 otherwise, the other 3 spots are where most teams have any difference and FMFM is the best if you have a female who is noticably better than the others since she will not lose as much distance on the opening lap and it is always easier to regain distance from behind if you are not too far behind, you always see the opponent and act like a greyhound chasing the rabbit in a greyhound race.

To put something into persepective, the last chase group finished with a time of roughly 3:42. The 1600 meter world record, held by Hicham El Guerrouj, was run in 3:43:13. He could have single-handly beat their entire relay team, and they were running 400's. Kinda crazy to think about.
