What criminal wouldn't take a deal to pay the tax and a fine and you walk free with some of your assets and a clean slate. In a way the state is accepting that the biggest criminals cannot be convicted, The CAB is not unlike NAMA in that it cost a lot more to operate than it ever recovered. Like NAMA it turned out to be the least worst option. Although NAMA hid a lot of its poor performance by setting low property values when they were the only sellers in the market.
AIB employee walked out of court in Ireland with 111million! 5 times what these small timers handed over to CAB. Where's that documentary? And are CAB investigating him?? Ya
