    Spot on advice!
I have been guiding alpine ascents, rafting, climbing, and Outward Bound throughout the lower 48 and Alaska and the Canadian West since 1996.
    Love your videos!

Although I’ve never heard it called an Alpine Start, this is a great tactic and explains a few things from tripping in my childhood. I thought my father was just being cruel LOL!
🎄Merry Christmas to you and your family. I’m looking forward to your videos in the coming year.

Sound advice, however the Alpine start means 0200 to 0400 in northern Canada in June and July a little later in August. I enjoy your videos, although we may differ on bush coffee preparation. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Exactly. In Maine if you’re doing an Alpine start alarm off at 3 am at the latest to be on the water just after 5 am with a group.

Found and really enjoying your videos. I live in Newfoundland and use the canoe for fishing moosehunting. Always hit the water at moose time.

Great to hear from you as I set out in the snow in Wisconsin enjoying my winter solstice fire.

When the goin’ gets tough, the tough get up early, make a good breakfast, pack up, and get after it. Alpine Start! ‘Baby Butt Crack of Dawn”. Luv it!

Merry Christmas Lisa an I have never heard it called a alpine start. But it sounds much nicer. I'm sure you can trick a few campers right off the rip with that alpine start before they even know what they agreed to. LOL.

A nice reminder for why we get out there. What a way to start the day!

Somebody better take your keyboard away before you give up all the secrets! Since I am running on 1 lung since having had COVID I started going on the water at 1st light. Wow have I been rewarded with breathtaking views. I get on, have the whole world to myself and get off the water before the heat, before the wind and before encountering traffic!

It really is the “magic hour”. Sorry about the lung and Covid. My husband ended up in hospital with Covid but thankfully recovered. I’m so glad you’re ok and finding a way to be out there on the water. What a way to start your day! Can’t think of anything better.

If you make me alpine it with bfast and coffee, we better be at the next campsite by 8am.

What is the "right" breakfast? I 'm guessing that people aren't very hungry. Thanks for the video.

It’s just plenty of hot food and coffee. Just don’t chug some water and pound a cliff bar and think you’re not gonna tank that morning.

If you’re gonna get people up that early you have to greet them with a nice fire and hot coffee. They eat after that, believe me.

I just realized, 3 minutes is not enough. Guess I’ll just go get another 3 minutes. 😎
