A surgeon I worked with a looonng time ago taught me to do a running vertical mattress suture to close a groin incision on aorto-femoral bypass surgery.
can your incision grow over the stitches after there was some swelling the first 3 days after the surgery? what will the Dr have to do if that happens to remove the sutures?
I have some bad habits that mean I'm often seeking stitches - considering just learning to suture my wound myself so I stop wasting my money and doctors' time

It is a good tutorial video o vertical mattress suturing
Looks like it makes a difference when removing the suture which end of the knot you cut.
where can you purchase those suturing practice pads? med student applying surgery this year :)
I got mine from SurgiReal.
My Doc went with only one knot for every stitch
They were barely "knotted" more like professionally tangled lol
But the scar is almost gone
great

It's totally possible to do at home, just make sure to keep everything sterile.
