Aye thats a cracking camera to buy. The video style is really good, a bit of chip chat, overview of what you are doing and actually getting to see the image you took is really good. Hopefully the new channel gets a bit more traction and it's worth your while to keep going. All the best
Ohhhhh you are one of us now lol. Try to underexpose by 1-2 stops. Then in LR open up just the whites and highlights. You will get great popping colors. Congrats on the M11. Excellent choice.
Great video. Congrats on the M11. It's a great camera. I had a D850 too. Sold all my Nikon gear for a Leica M and never been happier with the experience, process, size and find myself going out to take more photos and see and experience more.
Oooof. Love it ❤ Just (re)starting my journey back to slow, methodical and intentional photography. Looking forward to seeing more from you as you get to grips with it. Interesting point about waiting for the film to be dev’d. it’s weirdly frustrating but I do think that plays a role in the slowing down and patience of photography, totally get the “I’ve got a video to make” point though.
Stunning camara indeed. After your one camara one lense video and being a complete amateur I just bought a new Hassleblad 907 100c with a 55 2.5v. I might be taking shite photo's but I look good doing it. Your right the boys at London exchange were spot on. The tour books for the camper van in Scotland were spot on. My wife got me you pack for Christmas
Been a photographer since my teens in 1960's & certainly since digital which I took up in around 1898 & seriously in 2001 as they got more & more automatic even shooting manually which I did most of the time I slowly lost my mojo & needed to kick start it back so I sold all my Olympus & Canon stuff & switched over to Leica for that slowed down think about it photography getting the M11 within weeks of it coming out & then as an addition the M11M the day it was launched. My photography is focused on landscape & street so slowing down compositing better the M's are ideal. Especially with zone focusing. I am again enjoying my photography & has a more personal feel in the images especially when printed. I have added the SL3 & use my M lenses for primes & Leica Zooms as these are weather sealed & I can use filters for my landscape. Hope you continue to enjoy your M11.
I am just cogitating on picking up either a used SL2, and the 24-70, or to pick up a brand new SL2S with the same lens. Just to get me into the SL system. Sadly my eyes are not what they once where, and I love the M, but need a little help sometimes.
Enjoy your M11! I confess I didn’t get along with mine so recently sold it, leaving me with the Q2 as my only digital camera. I was hoping it would be closer to the Mamiya 7ii I had but stupidly sold when getting into digital about 20yrs ago. Sadly, it never fired me up the same way. I do have one rangefinder left - my first ever camera, a Ricoh 500G. Maybe it’s leaf shutters I like!
What made me laugh - "Chris, I used to love this part of shields as a kid" he say walking around with a Leica and his minder keeping a check on him - just in case.. 🤣 Leica images from any of their cameras are in a league of their own, I compare my Nikon to the Leica and the Leica makes me feel like going out and taking another image - the best images on my flickr site are taken on a Leica, not the Nikon, which is no slouch.
It's only "expensive" if it doesn't allow you to deliver what you want in terms of output. I've used film and digital Leicas (and other brands simultaneously) for a couple of decades. Ideally, you'll forget about the brand when the camera's in your hand and it becomes an integral part of you. If that doesn't happen, that might be the sign that it isn't be the camera for you. Having been a photographer for 50 years, I still shoot like I have 36 on a roll - even when shooting digital. Enjoy it.
Very nice - congrats. I got a Q2M last summer for many of the same reasons. It's not as manual as the M11 but not far off if you want it to be and being only B&W it also brings a different mindset and process. Keep looking at the M series but I suspect it's maybe not great to focus with 50+ Yr old eyesight, so maybe not for me sadly. Look forward to more videos with it. Enjoy.
I've also recently lost my photo mojo and went down the film route, tried the Mamiya 7II and loved it and have enjoyed using it and recently just got myself a Ricoh GRIII which stays with me every day and its making me enjoy photography again, also got myslef a full spectrum A7 and have enjoyed doing "Areochrome" style images with it. Planning to go to Japan later this year and will be visiting all the used camera shops and want to get myself a Contax T2
On the video it was the Summicron 35mm f2 version 5. The only other lens I have is the voigtlander 50mm 1.5 version 2 at them minute but I really like that lens too
What you think about the magenta cast? Loved my Leica cameras in the past for their natural yet vibrant colors but the m11 colors is drained in magenta and harder to edit to a natural look.
Suppose I find a similar thing shooting portra, feel like it’s always got a bit of a cast. Don’t think I noticed it in these pics I took but maybe it will become more of a pain further down the line into ownership
Both the camera and lens is used. It’s the summicron 35mm f2 v5. I do love it but it has some pretty bad issues with lens flare which shows a lot more on next weeks video when I’m using it on my MP shooting film.
@@JustSloanes thank you for explaining. I am a Q shooter, as well as the Q Monochrome. I do love the Q2M more than the ‘regular’ Q2 but I can help myself keep watching tons of stuff about the M system. Reading, watching, searching and some more of all of it. Can’t wait to see your follow-up video. In the meanwhile I wish you happy shooting and beautiful photographs to keep. Thank you. 🙏
My Leica M2 is 61 years old in mint condition. I'm betting the M11 will not be going in 20 years or even 10. The camera may still work but the battery will be discontinued. I believe batteries for the M240 are unavailable. Leica doesn't allow third parties to produce compatible batteries. Film is not so dear after all. Cheers!
Not true. I just ordered brand new Leica batteries via Leica spare parts for M9. Btw, M experience is something out of this world. Enjoy my M11 and M11M every time i take a picture. Taking photos with M is mesmerising, pure joy and pleasure .
I'm currently on mint: D850, D810, D750, D70. Sigma art Primes & Zooms & a few Nikon Primes *Large, heavy gear but joy to use..tactile & high quality. Leica, only interests me - in monochrome. Leica Rangefinders are for me NOT ergonomic at all. ●Camera I've most enjoyed ever, was a Canon 6D, it's only 20mp & just so simple to use & beautiful colours & photos (within its semi basic dynamic range). I'd like a mark ii version - tilting screen. ●Canon 6Dii, is very affordable & a bargain. ●Sadly people trust too much in monetary investment for high quality images but that's NOT how Photography works. •nowadays buying used gear is the very best option, bargains everywhere, if patient to find. ●Clearly i still favour DSLRs but if i were to go full Mirrorless, would be either: Nikon Z7, Z6ii, Sony A7Cii - each are excellent
Well i had the X100VI which has the same OVF but it still has the autofocus etc and as much as i loved it, its still not quite a Leica in terms of feel. Wanting to use the camera is a big part of it to me and I couldnt justify that amount of money for a 9 year old camera. That said, i would definitely recommend the fuji cameras though, i loved the X100VI and i love my X-T5. I think im the issue, not the cameras haha
Enjoy. And don’t try and justify it. You can’t really. I consider the Leica m as good for the soul and mental health. That’s how I justify the money. Has helped me disconnect from work and stress very well.
Leica's are very nice cameras. But its nice to know for folks that don't have the bucks to spare, you can fulfill all your photographic aspirations for a lot less money.
I could almost guarantee you will not keep the camera. I’ve used them and they’re an absolute pain in the arse as far as getting decent photos with decent sharpness. If you want a camera that you can quickly turn on pointing the direction press the shut and lock on focus any of the M cameras are not going to do that for you avoid them at all costs.
@@JustSloanes Fair reply. As long as you know what you are in for. I know quite a few people who jumped into the M family from Sony and regretted every day until they sold the the M and went back to Sony. Sony is not better, but the luxury of quick auto focus for some is a must. Me personally, I got rid of my M as I wanted near instant focus lock when on the streets as I found I was missing focus on lots of shots and they were useless.

beautiful photos and nice walk at the coast. thanks for that and your impressions. looking forward to see more results and impressions with the M11.
You got a great deal! I’m with you on manually focusing with the rangefinder patch, something special about it.
Oooof. Love it ❤

You just need a thumbs up then the purchase on the body is really comfy. Great camera, lovely colours, and, of course, some exquisite glass.

These were all shot on the v5 35mm summicron f2. Nice lens, has a bit of a flare issue but other than that I love it
Oh very cool and nice shots. I am trying to figure out which 35mm or 28 mm to purchase to add to my kit.

Yeah i suppose thats always going to be the problem with anything digital. Luckily my Leica MP will still be working by then and my Nikon FM2

You could have taken the m11-p…with the proper lenses, it just offers a better experience than any other camera. I just bought the 35 apo summicron…
Wouldn't an XPro 2 not give you best of both worlds (cheaper at least but gives you the option of OVF)? Nice photos from the Leica though
