Deep in the north of South America, where Colombia meets the Caribbean Sea and Venezuela, lies La Guajira-one of the most enigmatic and untamed regions on the planet.
It's a land filled with desert landscapes, giant sand dunes, and remote ranches!
The only people who live there are the indigenous Wayuu, who have ruled this area for thousands of years in their own way.
Many Colombian laws don’t apply here!
It's a land of extreme poverty.
There is almost no water, no food, and no jobs.
Many children die every year due to these harsh conditions.
This desperation makes the area a dangerous place for curious tourists, with increased risks of robbery, assault, and other serious crimes.
Local police warned me for my safety to only travel with a professional tour guide and a car.
However, I chose to trust an unofficial agency and a local, who agreed to take me through this lawless, deserted land with his broken bike.

Loved all the stone balances when the kid was selling you bracelets too. My father runs the European stone stacking championships in my home town. Look up Elaf fest if anyone is interested in stone balancing too!

You should check out c90 adventures on youtube. He did a bunch of videos where he traveled from Alaska to Argentina with a Honda C90. He goes here too. I can wholeheartedly recommend his videos if you like this type of stuff.

Never get in the sea that you dont know and that locals are not swimming in unless someone can fish you out. Rip current can take you out and you cant out-swim it. Only way out of rip current if you get taken back is to stay calm swim parallel to the beach and try to come back to shore in another spot.hopefully you still have energy to come back . I learned this from when i was a young boi.

One time in Sri Lanka a tuk tuk driver blew his tires and I could tell it would ruin his week to have to afford a new one. I feel bad when a local is taking me somewhere remote for cheap and their vehicle ends up getting damaged. I always try and take care of them when that happens.
