Not sure if 10th gen supports it, but there is an Intel app called XTU (Intel Extreme Tuning Utility) that allows you to underclock (lower the wattage) of the CPU with a slight performance hit. Unfortunately you cannot undervolt 10th gen CPUs which normally helps with temperatures and doesn’t cost performance

@@techniqualities thanks for answer, i have one more question. I Wonder display quality of this notebook. Britghtnes level seems to a liitle bit lower than other gaming notebooks. I will use this notebook for work and studies too. Did you try browse in İnternet or reading articles in sunlight or under shade. How was screens performance?
@@YunusEmre-cv4dy I have a laptop that is not this one that I use as a student. It’s screen is about 300 nits so this is about 20 nits higher and since both have anti glare coatings it deals with sunlight and ambient light really well. Most gaming laptops besides a select few have 300 nit panels so you should be fine. I have had the laptop (Dell not this one) for well over six months and have never had an issue with screen brightness. Also good luck with your studies!
Would you recommend the Legion 5 with 3050Ti 95 Watt, Ryzen 7 5800H, RGB Keyboard, and 99% sRGB/165Hz panel or the MSI GF65 Thin with RTX 3060 Max-Q 75 watt and i5-10500H if both are at very similar price points ? I'm very conflicted between both. On the legion you get a better screen, processor, and I believe a better design, but on the MSI you get a better GPU (not sure if significantly better since it's Max-Q with a little above average TDP) and the MSI is 0.5 kg lower.
If you are into video editing work then go for legion thats well balanced for both editing and medium gaming. But if you are buying only for gaming targeting high fps on more than 1080p resolution then no doubt rtx 3060 makes a big difference.
I just bought this laptop but with an i7-10750. Its running games on low settings (Fortnite) at 90*c Cpu. Is that normal? I literally just bought it on the 21st.
For i7 10750h, it is completely normal. But if you are targetting lower temps you can disable turbo boost anytime. This would give -10 maybe -15 degrees but cause fps loss such games like CSGO, Fortnite etc.. I got the same variant of the laptop and I don't play competetive games so I use it with turbo boost off.

@@bluupbrr286 to be honest, the GP66 could be one of the best things from MSI in it's segment - it has inherited the good cooling system and the nice chassis form from the superior GE series, the good airflow system of the GE series, without the blinky stuff from GE66 (Aurora lightning, etc). Of course, other small minuses would be the lower refresh rate monitor, but I think most of us could live with 144Hz as well, right? :) (or the smaller battery, but on gaming...)
@@techniqualities for the right price, i feel like it could be the best laptop this year. I wanted to buy the GE66 last yeah but it was too expensive in my country ($3300 for the RTX 2070 SUPER). Compared to the US prices, that was way too expensive. The GP series on the other hand has always been much supported by both the customers and MSI. Thats is why i m hoping for the RTX 3070 GP66 to be priced around $2200. Its kinda like the GE66 RAIDER STEALTH and i really love the ‘toned down aesthetic’. Also i have only seen really bad 60hz displays, havent actually owned a gaming laptop. So i feel like even the 144hz would just impress me.
I have older version the 9th gen i7 and rtx 2060 and even with the fans on at full during gaming it was hitting nearly 100c. I ended up undervolting it to get cooler temps around 72c cpu and 70c gpu temps when playing the likes of cyberpunk for a few hours at a time. Like he said a cooling pad helps too. Good laptop though and good hardware for the price
would you say the upgrade to the i7-10750H is worth an extra $250 over the i5? the model is retailing for $1250 (i5) and $1499 (i7) in Canada - I mostly play SC2 and older games but would like to use this laptop for 4 years or more
Go for the model with the i5-10500H it is a 6 core 12 thread that boosts to 4.5ghz. Now days a 6 core will do just fine with most any game you throw at it. Most of the money should go to the GPU. The fastest thing to age on a gaming laptop is the graphics card. This review was for the model with i5-10200H which is only a 4 core 8 thread, which is bare minimum for gaming nowadays. I'd rather have a good i5 with a great GPU than a high end i7 with a lower GPU in a laptop.
@@MrR2185 does i5 10500H model has heat problems ? İ want to buy this notebook because of its weight , performance and price but im not sure is i5 10500H ok with rtx 3060
@@YunusEmre-cv4dy Hey Yunus, the 10500H is a fast CPU and does not bottleneck the 3060, they are fairly well balanced. It does get pretty hot under gaming loads, like in the 80c range, but laptop CPU's can handle much hotter temps than desktop CPU's. I believe they throttle at 95c. I plan on putting good thermal paste on mine soon because the factory applications are not that great, in my experience(for any laptop really). Also, this i5 is ever so slightly faster than the i7-10750H(also a 6 core 12 thread, like 10500h), so don't go for the i7, it is pointless. I've gamed on it a for a bit and very happy with the purchase...the laptop is VERY light for a gaming model and pretty compact, so great for travel. I upgraded the RAM to 16GB(Crucial ballistix CL16 3200mhz) and added a 2TB NVME for game storage.
I have an EVOO Gaming (walmart) laptop. Keeping all else equal, it has a desktop-variant GTX 1660ti and i7-9750H. Is migrating to this MSI with a laptop-variant RTX 3060 and i5-10500H a worthy step up? Now, how about for $200? That's the difference in $ of the MSI (bought on sale $850) minus the approx. $ I can sell the EVOO. According to UserBenchmarks, the 3060 (laptop) is a tad better than the desktop 1660ti (52nd vs. 60th place) and the i7-9750H is a good amount lower than the i5-10500H (176th vs 77th place). I'm just trying to determine if I should be looking to toss the EVOO or if it should be fine for another year or two... or wait for Black Friday 2021?
i have an evoo gaming laptop with a 1650 and i5-10300h and i got it for like 600$ flat. I would honestly just wait a bit longer since you'd still be paying about 900+ after tax and such for something that's only a bit better. I can see other higher wattage 3060 gaming laptops going for sale!
we will ask the Acer guys about this one, will let you know- but until then, keep in mind that the Nitro 5 AN515-45 (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H + RTX 3080 Laptop) is a very weak RTX implementation, only 85W 3080....
@@muhammedfarique5396 much better than the 1660Ti, and a bit better than the 2060. but we need to see (we will try, depends what samples Acer has in our region) how much better the 3060 compared to the 2060 in this case.
dude im thinking buying it from there too. Which model you have bought ? i5 10500H ? And what do you think about its performance in gaming and temperature?
4 Core Cpu with Rtx 3060 is the worst combination ever because it will result in Bottleneck. Usually normal users won't see the difference while using such laptop but when you pair a dedicated gpu with a appropriate Cpu (6-8 Cores) the performance will be huge. This laptop will perform like a 1660ti dekstop version. So don't get fooled by greedy companies laptop variants.
Haha. Stop throwing snake oil please. I have an i3 9100f Desktop (weaker than 10200H) paired with a GTX 1070 (stronger than the laptop 3060), and it doesn’t bottleneck. Most games today are more optimized to accommodate different configurations.
as much as I would like to say, just can't recommend something without testing it, hope we can have the more affordable ASUS and then having a more better overview.

They are selling it here for €2400 in June 2021. Is that a fair price in a pandemic period? Or should I wait for a more reasonably priced 3080 laptop (I'm an animator and content creator - not a heavy gamer).
the i7 variant is about 3-5C more on Keyboard, in the rest, same noise. The good news is that it has one of the best ventilated D part, so with a normal laptop cooler you will not have any issues (either now is OK, just of course the I7 will be functioning always above 80-85C in games, especially when summer will come. We tested this model around 21,5-22C room temperature, so if you will have 25-26C in the room, things might become more hot. literally :)

In my country this msi gf65 and the Asus tuf dash f15. Literally the same spec. Except the Asus tuf have the latest Intel CPU and the msi have older CPU which do you think is better ? In term of overall build quality , thermal etc.
I think msi because it has 6 core and 12 thread so it will not bottleneck

just got this fantastic laptop, and wondering is there any way I can lower the CPU temperature to hover around 70-80 while playing games to preserve longevity?
Not sure if 10th gen supports it, but there is an Intel app called XTU (Intel Extreme Tuning Utility) that allows you to underclock (lower the wattage) of the CPU with a slight performance hit. Unfortunately you cannot undervolt 10th gen CPUs which normally helps with temperatures and doesn’t cost performance

im looking for under 2kg gaming notebook like that. I loved this model its price , mobility and gaming performance is outstanding but i wonder if i5 suitable with rtx 3060? Does it worth to give 200-300 more and buy i7 version?
I don’t think so. This one seems a sweet spot.
On the legion you get a better screen, processor, and I believe a better design, but on the MSI you get a better GPU (not sure if significantly better since it's Max-Q with a little above average TDP) and the MSI is 0.5 kg lower.
i am also confused which one to buy, please let me know when u goin to buy these?? and recommend me to buy which of them
If you are into video editing work then go for legion thats well balanced for both editing and medium gaming. But if you are buying only for gaming targeting high fps on more than 1080p resolution then no doubt rtx 3060 makes a big difference.
Screen and processor for the win

Some people say I5 10200 and rtx 3060 are bottleneck is that true?
It's a bottleneck with even 4 core i5 11400h
There's a 10500h version of this laptop which is 6 core
For normal gaming you barely noticed. It bottleneck for someone do heavy work like rending video and stuff but still not that noticeable.
would you say the upgrade to the i7-10750H is worth an extra $250 over the i5?
the model is retailing for $1250 (i5) and $1499 (i7) in Canada - I mostly play SC2 and older games but would like to use this laptop for 4 years or more
yes
get the i7 in case you do convert image to pdf, compile codes, processing images, this offers not much advantage in gaming.

4 Core Cpu with Rtx 3060 is the worst combination ever because it will result in Bottleneck. the i7 variant is about 3-5C more on Keyboard, in the rest, same noise.
