Thank you for your honest and heartfelt talk about Hamburger Hill. My uncle was one of the few that survived that awful battle. And it was when he realized that we had no place in Vietnam to begin with. It changed him in good and bad ways….that is a lot of trauma for anyone to have to endure. Thank you for being so respectful and honest in your explanation of what went on there. It means a lot…because too many people don’t know the real story, they only know the watered down version that US schools teach. I watched my uncle live through abject horror from PTSD and luckily I got to see him come back from that experience by getting the proper care. But it was years later that he actually got any help, because back then they didn’t know a lick about PTSD…they just said that he was “shell shocked” and pretty much said he was on his own. He had horrible flashbacks for years…due to the guilt he felt and the agony he lived through, when so many of his brothers in arms didn’t make it out of there alive. 😢 I’m loving your entire series, but this video really touched me on a personal level. ❤✌🏻
andrew thank you for documenting the tribes of my country, i’ve been curious but know nothing about them. I’m part Tai, wondering if you will ever come by then! keep it up!!
I have done a shoot with the Tai on BEFRS before. Amazing people and probably some of the best food I have had in this country. Will definitely get back there soon enough as i'm planning a trip to the North.
I totally expected you to say "a-peace!" at the end. An excellent video. I enjoy getting to learn even more culture and history of these beautiful areas and you have a wonderfully pleasant voice to listen to!
2:25 Yummo. I love frog. I’ve had it homemade a few times by my family back in Vietnam. Try it, it tastes like chicken. Best way is to fry it with curry powder, lemongrass, chill and garlic. Can’t go wrong. I miss it so much. That don’t sell it here in Australia unless you go to a French restaurant, but they make it the Western way. I prefer our Asian marinations better.
I love frog. It is such an underrated meat. Huda is a very good beer. Far better than all of the Saigon beers. I went to Hamburger Hill in 1996 as an 18 year old and was amazed by just how much detritus was still there. There was very little vegetation back then.
This is a great video! Thank you for traveling there and showing us. It’s too bad you didn’t see and holes or trenches in the ground that the American Soldiers may have left behind.
A bite more context to the battle of hamburger hill. The objective of the battle was never really to capture and hold the hill. But to kill or capture the 2 battalions worth of NVA infantry that had infiltrated south Vietnam during the tet offensive. Who where in the process of exfiltrating back over the Laotian border approximately 1 mile to the west and had subsequently dug in on and around the hill
Then, the young American and Australian men came to Vietnam to die. These days, they come to Vietnam for uniqueness of food and entertainment. What a difference do a few politicians can make. So, cast your vote carefully.
This is the kind of content I want to watch, culture, history and food to better understand others. Great video!

Love the format, content and shots man! Would be even better with higher quality camera. 👍
Thanks. Yeah the action can struggles with low light in the eating scene. One day I’ll work out how to shoot that kinda thing well when solo.
@@Andrew_Fraser Amazing that you're able to do all that solo!
You have in a short video nailed how pointless the war was great video

Then, the young American and Australian men came to Vietnam to die. These days, they come to Vietnam for uniqueness of food and entertainment. What a difference do a few politicians can make. So, cast your vote carefully.
