And to inflation hesitancy toward buying, which are all happening. Americans are buying as little as possible and have been this way all year. Not to mention the stock market value is more important to big corporate than feeding & clothing a community, so when sales stagnate and stock dips they will try to downsize to look like they are still successful. It would have been better for towns to keep their small businesses and not allow the big boxes to build. The target in oakland was doomed from the start. Every single time I visited there I observed someone trying to steal something or some kids trying to return stolen goods. Security would try to stop them but they would just run out of the store and the police would take forever to arrive.
I went to the Target on Folsom once -- its not even recognizable as a Target on the inside. Every refrigerator and sanitary product is locked up and you need someone to manually come and unlock it. And theres a tall gated fence around the store almost like in the middle of a warzone.
Awesome! Maybe the local Giant, Safeway, Walmart, Walgreens, Rite Aid, CVS, and 7-11 will also shut their doors and create the food desert the criminals deserve. Hopefully, the non-criminal residents in that neighborhood will rethink who they vote for and remove the soft-on-crime District Attorneys who have created this catastrophe.
