I bought an ms250 for my replacement of a makita dcs520i that I've had for years. I'm really happy with it,even in stock form with a stihl chisel chain and 18" bar. I also run a ms441c and ms310,but the older I get the heavier they feel, lol. Most of my firewood is red oak or maple and no bigger than 22" in diameter so the ms250 will cut about 90% of what I need.
I bought a ms250 16 years ago, I have ran the hell out of it, in oak, hickory, pecan, gum,and pine, still runs great and nothing but stihl ultra oil has ever been in it. Just picked up a new one last week and ordered a new ms 261.
My neighbor gave me his 2005ish MS250C (toolless tension adjustment) after I felled and sawed up some trees on his property at his request. He was disgusted with his MS250C. It would not hold a chain tension setting and after it threw a chain he was afraid of it. I cleaned it up (removed about 6 ounces of oil soaked sawdust with brushes and dental picks in the bar channel, clutch cover and throughout). I replaced the 16" bar and chain with an 18" and it is a real workhorse. Prefer my 15% more powerful Husqvarna 353 e-tech for felling trees but the MS250C is a great downed tree finishing and branching aid. I think the stock Stihl chains cut better than the stock Hus'. But proper manual sharpening evens that difference. The Stihl "safety" flanges on the chain limit tip plunge cutting (I have 18" bars on both machines and sometimes fell large trees that require a plunge into the notch) that the Husqvarna chains do not suffer. I really like them both . . . but I wish Stihl would open their fly and sell through outlets instead of only dealers. I have no local Stihl dealer (closest one - 20 miles away - closed shop two years ago). I can get Husqvarna parts all over at box stores and the internet.
I was looking for a trim saw but true value didn’t have one in stock so I bought the ms 250 instead cause it was light and small enough. I just cut down a dead oak on the property, about the diameter of the bar, it did fantastic. Very happy with the purchase. I’ll see how it does up in a tree tomorrow.

Legendary lol. They are good saws, and all that most guys need for firewood. My favorite plastic case stock saw is the husky 450. It's the same specs as a 353 and has the easy to remove top cover for cleaning the air filter. You should try that 250 with some picco chain, the smaller saws really like it.
I still have a 025 from when they were introduced, dated fall 1989, it has gotten no service and still rips. Never got any problems. It has a better airfilter than the current models, no flimsy plastic piece but a real filter like the 026.
With all the videos on RUclips on how to start the MS250 I have a real hard time starting mine. Sometimes I can’t even get it to start. I’ve had it for a few years, but it only has about an hours worth of use on it. It’s got fresh non-ethanol, gas in it as well.
My 250 is about three years old with maybe 2 hours of use on it. With all the videos on this saw and how to start it I can never get mine to start. Not wanting to flood it, after 3 pulls on full choke (as recommended) I move it to the half choke position and pull till tomorrow without any pop. It’s got fresh non ethanol fuel In it too. I’ve had to use starting fluid last time I used it so it does run. Am I an idiot or what. I’d like to add that I’m a landscaper and start cold small 2 stokes all day. Weed wackers, backpack blowers, hedge trimmers, and even other chainsaws! All of them have priming balls on them.
Mine is hard to start plus im 77 yo bad shoulder... Does it pull easier without the bar. ...then possibility once warmed up...put the bar and chain on.... My MS 250 C has easy start. The MS 250 ( used) is tough to pull.. Any suggestion welcome

Salut! Deoarece are rezervoare 280 cu 180 ml.
