- LAREN - A thatched farm on Torenlaan in Laren was partly destroyed on Sunday afternoon by a major fire. The fire brigade pulled out with large equipment and managed to preserve a large part of the farm.
The fire burns out like a chimney fire around a quarter to two, but quickly spread to the thatched roof. Reed teams from Laren and Blaricum were assisted by colleagues from the Utrecht safety region. At around half past four the fire was under control and after-firing could start.

Het is toch altijd weer opvallend hoe beheerst, gecoördineerd en bewust de Ned. brandweer te werk gaat.
Dit itt de Amerikanen, waar iedereen maar een beetje rond lijkt te rennen zonder dat iemand het overzicht lijkt te hebben.
I think the difference is that American firemen are trained to be able to act on their own, to be independent, when need be. What happens to a fire crew if the "leader" is taken out? Does everyone stand around until a new leader is appointed?

The clips I see on Umess show the opposite: The wait for a commanding officer.
In NL, there is a commanding sub-officer on every pumper.
The first arriving on scene acts as commanding officer until the 'real' commanding officer arrives.
