We have the pleasure of watching many teams of draft horses plow a field together. Percherons, Belgians, Haflingers, Mules in teams of two, four, and six. this is wonderful footage of these beautiful and powerful draft horse teams and their teamsters working together.
We meet 15 year old Shelby Hartgrewe plowing.
Other events you will see in this video:
Next we watch as competitors hand pick corn and toss into a horse drawn wagon.
Cedar shingles are sawed with power coming from a belt driven by a tractor.
Crushing stone for field lime in an old belt driven crusher.
Saw milling hardwood in a large band saw.
Tom Renner discusses a time when a vendor showcased a new implement costing $500,000. He explained that it was essentially equipment invented 100 years ago and the cost of the implements today, including the horses for power would only be $2500.
Lastly we hear from John Harryman and Chad Lamontagne representing the National Resource Conservation Service. They discuss the importance of soil health and farming techniques to preserve and/or improve it. Chad is a soil scientist and he shows us the different layers of soil in a pit and explains what is in them, how they evolved and what to do to make the soil healthy.

Thomas and Amos are getting that field plowed pretty quickly. Good dirt, good teams, good team work, and a farming community is doing a good turn. Many hands make happy hands. Texas

Amen brother just a salesman. "How far agriculture has come" means "how much profit we've made at the cost of the little family farm". They don't understand agriculture as they try to turn the land into a machine. Look at his smug face.
