Nice to see interviewee being pleasant and engaging, I have seen others and have been like' well you should know what I mean and how its done' but this young lady showed how to start the project and all the tools required, well done and thank you
How do you trace the pattern on to the fabric? Is there carbon paper on the back of the pattern.? You didn't show how to get the pattern on the fabric.
this is a good starter but I was taught to finish with a knot . What weight of wadding did the maker use as I have not come across using it in sashiko .
What would be the effect of using one of the thread conditioners on sashiko thread while stitching, to prevent snarling? There are so many different formulations, from silicone to beeswax and so on.
Hi. Would like to try this, it is so pretty. Where can I buy a beginning pattern, with instructions, needles and thread. You need indigo fabric and is that Egyptian cotton? Please let me know. Do you mark the stitches first so you know how long to make the stitches?
I bought some Indigo cotton napkins from Pier 1, perfect size for a pillow top. I measured straight lines 1/2” apart. I have found some stencils on Amazon for other patterns. Search “sashiko stencil”. I’ve never done this but I’m confident in practicing on the napkins. My local quilt store had no idea what I was talking about, so I’m glad this video was on my feed!!
pronunciation for sashiko is so westernized by the lady. Correct is to emphasize the first syllable then the last (almost a two syllable word). The “i” almost inaudible.
