I have encountered a similar problem on the WM-3, the stop button cannot release after pressed. The problem is bigger than your TPS-L2, one mecha component is broken (plate lock, p / n: 3-557-513-00). I have made modifications and the results are satisfactory. It can fully function as usual.
@@farlord9264It could be more than that, he might have to replace the all the old rubber out of there. Most importantly, the pinch roller. Why? Because I've been getting distortion and had to dig in deep to find the problem. I've had to remove almost all the washers and gears to put the brand new tires on. And in the process, I've lost one e clips that goes to that other wheel that moves the belt. The plastic wheel-one. I'm still fixing mines now. I'm also trying to replace the pinch roller tire but the axle is tightly stuck. And worse, I still go more to fix.

Thanks for your comment, and I'm glad you managed to keep it alive!
The light on mine turns on but nothing spins - what should I do?
That's a good sign.. you just need to replace the belt
If the motor doesn’t work just spray some wd 40 in the motor and let it work inside. Works perfectly

Nearly took me the whole two to three months attempting to get everything restored.
Still not out of the woods yet.
How did you fix the "pressing stop"-thing? I'm having trouble trying to find out the issue.
Where did you source the screws for the walkman?
Great effort bro, i like the Headphone warning,😁. Im too Big fan of SONY walkmans, Owning 4 different models
Do you do mail in servicing? I cant find anywhere to send in my tps-l2
Maravilloso!!
Mi walkman fue reparado sin embargo funciona pero reproduce la musica a revolucion algo lenta me dicen que es el motor que solucion puede tener?
It can be a speed setting or a belts
Si la cinta de goma es muy gruesa puedes tener problemas. O el resistor de velocidad no está regulado.
