It looks nice; however, for a regular N52, I think the regular rotors and brakes are fine even with regular fbo...I had to upgrade my brake set up to the 335 because I'm pushing more power with the supercharger
This is a very common misconception, the stopping difference is never “that” much different between oem and bbk upgrades. Main benefit is the heat dissipation!! That’s why almost every track driver upgrades theirs.
I noticed you didn’t put the retaining clip back on the caliper, are you noticing any chatter or anything while driving without them? It is a cleaner look and I’d like to do so as well as long as there’s no issues
the size of the piston inside the caliper makes a difference is braking force. bigger caliper, bigger piston, bigger pads and bigger rotors equal more surface area being pressed on by the pad. this equals better stopping power
full retrofit was about $500 for calipers, paint, rotors, pads, stainless steel brake lines, and fluids etc. braking power is WAY better. bits hard and smooth
Few questions: 1. Why did you choose only to do the front calipers? (Yes, I know 80% of stopping is front wheels, but why not do the rear as well? - Then there's also the parking brake concern.) 2. Is there a need to upgrade the master cylinder & reservoir? 3. Did you code the computer for the new rotors? If not, why? For those who want to do this upgrade: Make sure you have 18" wheels or larger. 17" is questionable and 16" won't fit this size rotor-caliper combination.
1. It’s significantly more work for not much more stopping power. On the E9X platform you can’t just swap the rears because the parking brake ordeal. 2. There’s no need to upgrade the master cylinder, it’s the same across the 328, 335, etc. 3. You do not need to code anything if you just do the front swap, although to my knowledge you can choose to code to give you a more precise brake feel. I’ll say mine feels great regardless.
Just a question, getting ready to do my 335i swap on my car. Do you need different caliper bracket bolts or will the same ones work on the 335 brakes? Great video!
@@IzzyE9X I’ve seen threads online that says the rear calipers are a direct bolt on for the 330i, E91, E93, and all AWD models since they use the larger rear parking brake setup meaning you won’t have to convert the horseshoes and parking brake issues
Great work! and the most enthusiastic 328i owner I've ever seen! I just bought a pair of front calipers waiting to be installed. However I still need to buy the motors, what exactly should I looking for in terms of dimension and type?
the 335i pads are much wider and longer, the rotors are also hugely wider. the piston on the caliper itself is also much larger meaning the surface area of pad that is pressed against the rotor is larger. the difference in braking is day and night, especially with the stainless steel lines.
eBay used for about $100, cost about $30-50 to restore them (sanding, prepping, painting. all in all about $150. one of the BEST upgrades I’ve done hands down
Awesome video man! Was thinking of doing this to mine. I’ve read that when doing this mod, you need to have the Performance Brakes option coded to get the most out of it. Did you get this done or it’s already good enough without? Also, can the old 328i caliper bracket be reused? Or I need to buy a new one?
Note for anyone doing this: The front’s are an easy plug and play, but the rears will not fit unless you get the 335 ebrake setup. I repeat, THE REAR CARRIER from a 335 will not fit to a 328
Have you had any experience with an acura zdx? I was initially looking at bmw e92 but the ZDX presented itself to me.. im still in love with how the e92 looks but the acura is definitely the smarter long term move.

@@josephsarach6872 yeah you right; I didn’t know any better and was advice to do it
Damn, this is a good video and love you listed all the car mods in the description. Just subscribed
thank you ❤️
have u done performace mods? ecu dyno tests hp ways
unless you count my throttle tune, nope! fun car to drive that’s peppy, handles insanely well and looks/feels very modern was my build goal
Is the caliper bracket interchangeable? Did you pull the caliper bracket off the 328 brake caliper and put it onto the 335 brake caliper?
You don’t gotta do none of that bro it’s a direct bolt on from the 335i
hi do the 335 calipers bolt to same bracket as your origanal ones
do you know if it works with a 328xi?
I noticed you didn’t put the retaining clip back on the caliper, are you noticing any chatter or anything while driving without them? It is a cleaner look and I’d like to do so as well as long as there’s no issues
Are the rotors and callipers too big for 17 inch wheels? I have to switch to 17 during winter😭
Yeah they are the calipers rub on the inside of the wheel
It's not about the size of the caliper. What matters is the swept area of the total pad surfaces.
the size of the piston inside the caliper makes a difference is braking force. bigger caliper, bigger piston, bigger pads and bigger rotors equal more surface area being pressed on by the pad. this equals better stopping power
How much did this retrofit cost? Is the braking significantly better?
What about the rears are those not possible to swap?
full retrofit was about $500 for calipers, paint, rotors, pads, stainless steel brake lines, and fluids etc. braking power is WAY better. bits hard and smooth
Please tell me where i can get the msport fender liners. I cant find them at all
Did you do rears or only front?
I only did the front because doing the rear requires you to mess with the parking brake cable, etc.

Does this mod restrict what wheels you can get
Is this just as plug and play for a 320 or just 328
@@xuay2865 320i should be the same thing - no difference.
What are the size for the front and rear rotors?
nice. are the rear the same? as the 328i? wouldn't be worth the change over? definitely will be doing this to my 328i
from what ive read fronts are plug an play, the same. but rear ones depends if you got AWD or RWD. AWD is different for rear.
the rear require you to do some more work because 335 parking brake is differently routed. only the front is plug and play
Do the 335xi calipers also fit on a 328xi?
Are the rear calipers the same between the 335 and 325?
Just a question, getting ready to do my 335i swap on my car. Do you need different caliper bracket bolts or will the same ones work on the 335 brakes? Great video!
Where can I buy separate calipers for my 09 n52 coupe ? Somebody put me on please
Are the rear 335i brakes also bigger than the rear 328i brakes or is it just the front??
the rear brakes are bigger/better on the 335i, but they rear brake swaps is more intensive due to the parking brake
@@IzzyE9X I’ve seen threads online that says the rear calipers are a direct bolt on for the 330i, E91, E93, and all AWD models since they use the larger rear parking brake setup meaning you won’t have to convert the horseshoes and parking brake issues
I Want To KnowIf That 335 calipers Feet Exactly On 328
can this be done with stock wheels?
I have 18 inch wheels, so I’m not sure
What year is your 328i & what year 335i brakes are compatible?
can you please give me the link to the brake lines? or give me the part number of it?

huge upgrade! breaking power feels insane

thank you! any equivalent to the 335i dimensions is what you’ll need to look for.
Where did you get the calipers.,
eBay!
The pads are about the same size. I dont see this doing anything but adding weight.
the 335i pads are much wider and longer, the rotors are also hugely wider. the piston on the caliper itself is also much larger meaning the surface area of pad that is pressed against the rotor is larger. the difference in braking is day and night, especially with the stainless steel lines.

You waste more money on upgrades than the car itself lmao
Yeah upgrading the stopping power of a car is a waste of money.
I’ve never felt more safe in my BMW than after I did this upgrade. It allows you to push your car to its limit while not dying. Worth every cent 💯
